Juliet Godfrey
LANGDON, N.D. -- Juliet Fetsch Godfrey, 99, Langdon, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Maple Manor Care Center, Langdon, where she has lived since 1995.
Juliet Schiestel was born Jan. 21, 1901, the daughter of John and Veronica (Oldheiser) Schiestel, in Langdon. She married
Joseph Fetsch on June 27, 1923, in Wales, N.D. She lived in Wales, Mt. Carmel, and Langdon. Joseph Fetsch died Feb. 2, 1945. She married
James Godfrey. From 1992 to 1995 she lived in Osnabrock, N.D.
She is survived by a son, Lloyd (Marie), Billings, Mont.; a daughter, Blanche (Tom) Welbaum, ElCajon, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Isabelle Fetsch, Langdon; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Godfrey; sons, Dale and Owen; daughters, Mae Mendelsohn and Joyce Johnson; a brother, Lawrence; and sisters, Edna Slama and Aurelia Uhrich.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Langdon.
Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Brooks Funeral Home, and a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service in the church.
Burial: St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Wales.
Theresa Lavoie
Theresa J. Lavoie, 53, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Langdon, N.D., died of cancer Aug. 27, 2000, in Tucson.
Theresa J. Hoffarth was born March 10, 1947, the daughter of Michael and Frances (Schuler) Hoffarth, in Langdon, where she attended school. She married
Bill Lavoie on June 14, 1968, in Langdon. She worked in Boston for two years with the Gillette Razor Co. They then moved to Tucson. She was a pre school teacher and helped her husband in his business, Nighthawk Systems, Inc.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Paula, Tucson; her mother, Grand Forks; and brothers and sisters, Dennis (Janet), San Diego, Mary (Vernon) Moore, Alexandria, Va., Al (Mary Jo), Cass Lake, Minn., Lou Wagner, Alice Dacus, Deborah (Robert) Demmers and Steven (Julie), all of Grand Forks, William (Sharon), Monticello, Minn., Mathias (Amelia), Apple Valley, Minn., and Michael (Janelle), Wahpeton, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services: Were held in Tucson.
Burial: Holy Hope Cemetery, Tucson (Adair, Tucson).
Earl Hedde
REYNOLDS, N.D. -- Earl E. Hedde, 58, Reynolds, died Thursday, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Earl E. Hedde was born Jan. 7, 1942, the son of Ervin and Evelyn (Hovet) Hedde, in Grand Forks. He grew up and attended school in Buxton, N.D. He graduated from high school in Climax, N.D., in 1959. He attended North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, N.D. and received a degree in auto mechanics. He served in the Air National Guards from 1962 to 1968. He worked in auto mechanics and began farming in 1965 near Buxton. He married
Lorrene Christenson on Jan. 13, 1968, in McVille, N.D. They lived and farmed near Buxton. In 1972, he started farming with his brother in the Buxton and Reynolds area.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Brian, Buxton and Kevin, Grand Forks; a daughter, Lynelle Hedde, Reynolds; his father and stepmother, Ervin (Lillian), Buxton; and brothers, Richard (Beverly), Connecticut and Elroy (Sandi), Buxton.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and a sister, Carol.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Salem Lutheran Church, Cummings, N.D.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Salem Cemetery, Cummings (Knudsvig-Baker, Buxton).
Mary Lundon
Mary Lundon, 95, Apple Valley, Calif., formerly of Crookston and Ada, Minn., died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital, Apple Valley.
Mary Calahan was born April 16, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Connors) Calahan, in Blooming Prairie, Minn. She married
David Lundon on Nov. 7, 1928, in Ada. They farmed in the Ada area until 1952, when they moved to Crookston. She cooked at almost every restaurant in Crookston. After retiring she baby-sat and cleaned houses. In 1968, they began spending winters in California. David Lundon died in 1979. She moved to California in 1988, and lived with her daughter.
She is survived by sons, Dave (Doris), James (Eleanor) and John (Joy), all of Crookston, and Mike (Mary), St. Peter, Minn.; a daughter, Florence (John) Donaldson, Apple Valley; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth; brothers, Arthur, Thomas, Francis and Norbert; and a sister, Elizabeth Reppeto.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: 4: 30 p.m. Monday, Ada Cemetery.
Evelyn Peterson
CROOKSTON -- Evelyn Peterson, 88, Crookston, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston, where she had lived since June.
Evelyn Leona Lindberg was born Dec. 2, 1911, the daughter of Israel and Evelina (Sjodin) Lindberg, in Roseau, Minn., where she attended school. She helped out on the family farm and did child care for families. She later took care of her mother. She then moved to Crookston. She married
Nelson Peterson on July 7, 1937, in East Chicago, Ind. They lived in Crookston. She worked at Bethesda Hospital, Crookston and Bethesda Nursing Home. She later worked for Riverview Hospital until retiring in 1986. She continued to work part-time at the hospital and also had daycare in her home. Nels Peterson died in 1991.
She is survived by daughters, Myrna (Paul) Andrews, Duluth, and Gayle (Thomas) Greer, Fargo; a son, Jerry, Crookston; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Grace Lindberg, Roseau, and Dagmar Jasper, Crookston.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Laurence, Algot, Enock, Mahlen and Israel Jr.; and sisters, Myrtle Buchanan and Dorothy Nelson Eavens.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Evangelical Covenant Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church. Memorials are suggested to Evangelical Covenant Church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
Allen Hanson
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Allen Hanson, 63, Thief River Falls, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo.
Allen Duane Hanson was born Feb. 3, 1937, the son of Hans and Naomi (Althoff) Hanson, in Red Lake County, Minn. He attended school in Thief River Falls. He worked as a laborer on several farms in North Dakota. He joined the U.S. Army, where he continued his education, and was active for 22 years. He was stationed in Germany, Vietnam, Korea and the United States. He retired in 1976 and returned to Thief River Falls. He spent winters in Brownsville and El Paso, Texas.
He is survived by a daughter, Vicky Sunner, Portland, Ore.; sons, Dale, Gresham, Ore., and DuWayne, Portland; and sisters, Margie Prestebak, Shirley (Leonard) Yonke and Norma (Clarence) Swanson, all of Thief River Falls, and Idella Rewertz, Plummer, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harvey and Harold.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Green Funeral Home Chapel, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today and two hours before services all in the funeral home.
Burial: Presbyterian Cemetery, Brooks, Minn.
