Irene Weiss
NECHE, N.D. -- Irene F. Weiss, 89, Neche, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her daughter's home in Columbia Heights, Minn.
Irene F. Rawson was born Nov. 12, 1910, the daughter of Thomas and Carrie (Lawrence) Rawson, in Fleming, Sask., where she attended school. She attended business college in Moosomin, Sask. She married
Henry Weiss on Oct. 26, 1931, in Regina, Sask. They farmed in the Neche and Pembina, N.D., areas. They retired in 1968 and spent winters in Arizona. Henry Weiss died March 5, 1984.
She is survived by a son, Marvin (Elly), Roseville, Calif.; a daughter, Shirley (Morris) Werzel, Columbia Heights; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Pearson, May Powers and Clara Richard; and brothers, Gerald and Cecil.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Neche United Methodist Church.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Neche Union Cemetery.
Floyd Howard
SHEYENNE, N.D. -- Floyd R. Howard, 92, Sheyenne, formerly of Minnewaukan, N.D., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Lutheran Home of the Good Sheperd, New Rockford, N.D., where he had lived since August.
Floyd R. Howard was born Aug. 21, 1908, the son of Harry and Martha (Geske) Howard, in Riggin Town-¨ship, Benson County, N.D. He attended school in Riggin Township and Minnewaukan. He married
Stella Prinzing on Oct. 11, 1928. They lived in Lallie Township, where they raised cattle, sheep and farmed. They moved to Minnewaukan in 1946. Stella Howard died Dec. 7, 1997. He later lived with his son Duane (Orpha).
He is survived by sons, Duane (Orpha), Sheyenne, and Larry, Ray, N.D.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou; and a brother, Wilson.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Presbyterian Church, Minnewaukan.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Hillside Cemetery, Oberon, N.D.
Nina Semmens
LUVERNE, N.D. -- Nina Semmens, 95, Fargo, formerly of Luverne, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Bethany Homes, Fargo, where she had lived since April 1997.
Nina Marie Jacobsen was born Sept. 14, 1904, the daughter of Andrew and Magdalena (Hawkland) Jacobsen, in Griggs County, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Luverne. She married
James Semmens on Sept. 14, 1924, in Cooperstown, N.D. They lived in Litchville, N.D. They moved to West Fargo, N.D., in 1985. James Semmens died in 1993. She moved to Moorhead in 1994.
She is survived by daughters, Corrine "Pat" Opdahl, Bismarck, Doris Sand, Fargo, and Janice (Earl) Strinden, Grand Forks; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jacob, Cooperstown.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, LeFerne Beglau; and a sister, Doris Watne
Services: 10 a.m. today, Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany Homes.
Burial: 2 p.m. today, First Lutheran Cemetery, Litchville (Hanson-Runsvold, Fargo)
Carol Hennager
Carol Hennager, 57, Stevens-¨ville, Mich., formerly of Grand Forks, died Thursday, June 21, 2000, in Northwestern Medical Hospital, Chicago, Ill.
Carol Lynn Hagen was born Feb. 27, 1943, the daughter of Ole and Tharetha (Boyd) Hagen, in Grand Forks, where she attended school. She married
George Hennager on Oct. 31, 1960, in Grand Forks. He died Oct. 21, 1993. She moved in 1993 to Stevensville, where she worked for the Elder Bermen Department Store.
She is survived by a son, George (Ellen Dickson), South Bend, Ind.; daughters, Annette (Jim) Garrison, Stevensville, Lori (Darrell) Smith, South Bend, and Cindy Peters, Grand Forks; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janice (Lauren) Simonson, Elaine (Dave) Soul, both of South Sioux City, Iowa, and Grace Hagen, San Diego.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald; a daughter, Georgine; a grandson; her parents; a brother, Calvin "Corky"; and sisters, Rita, Opha, Maxine, and Judy.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Norman Funeral Home, Columbia Road.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services all in Norman Funeral Home.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
Beatrice McIntosh
HANNAH, N.D. -- Beatrice McIntosh, 97, Hannah, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon, N.D.
Mary Beatrice Elsberry was born March 31, 1903, the daughter of Elisha and Margaret (Watts) Elsberry, in Rock Lake, N.D. She attended school in Rock Lake and Egeland, N.D. She moved to Spokane, Wash. She married
Athol McIntosh on June 19, 1930, in Spokane. They moved to Hannah, where they farmed.
She is survived by a son, Donald (Vera), Hannah; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Bland and Frank; and sisters, Dora Elsberry and Kathleen Balfour.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Hannah Presbyterian Church.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon.
Burial: Hannah Cemetery.
Annie Stoltman
MINTO, N.D. -- Annie Stoltman, 84, Minto, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Unity Medical Center, Grafton, N.D.
Annie Ruzicka was born July 8, 1916, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Zeman) Ruzicka, in Prairie Centre Township, Walsh County, N.D. She attended school in Veseleyville, N.D. She married
Steven Stoltman on Oct. 29, 1940, in Veseleyville. They lived near Minto, where she was a cook in the Minto school. Steven Stoltman died March 12, 1998.
She is survived by daughters, Lizz (John) Forbord, Grafton, Janice (Larry) Sieg, Moses Lake, Wash., and Kathy Monson, Burnsville, Minn.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Claudia (Jerome Grandbois) Ruzicka, Fargo.
She was preceded in death by brother, Charles; and sisters, Aurelia Houdek and Marie Schanilec.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.
