Helen Peck
CROOKSTON -- Helen "Dolly" Peck, 65, Crookston, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Helen Ann Peck was born July 8, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Prodahl) Weiland, in Euclid, Minn., where she grew up. She graduated from high school in Crookston in 1952. She married
John Peck on July 9, 1953, in Euclid. They lived in Euclid and later in Fort Knox, Tenn. They moved to Crookston, where she worked for several businesses including J.R. Simplot and the Northland Lodge. She also worked for Northwest Collections until her retirement in 1997. She later worked at Crookston Ampride.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Rhonda (Gary) Paulson, Wyoming, Minn., Kimberly (Jeff) Moberg, Minneapolis, Theresa (Thomas) Johnson, Faribault, Minn., and Jean (Thomas) Halland, Fosston, Minn.; sons, Douglas, Russell and Thomas (Vicky), all of Crookston, and Richard, Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Pat (Richard) Gust, Menomonie, Wis., Gen (Don) Ostercamp, Anoka, Minn., and Jean (Dick) Fontaine, San Jose, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Donnan Garry, Long Beach, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Garry; and an infant brother.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
James Murphy
James D. Murphy, 62, Peru, Ind., formerly of Grand Forks, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2000, at home.
James D. Murphy was born Dec. 1, 1937, the son of William and Agnes (Thompson) Murphy, in Grand Forks. He married
Barbara Venice on Sept. 21, 1957. He served in the U.S. military from 1956 to 1959. He was a retired supervisor of Nipsco for 28 years. He formerly owned Shamrock Seed and Feed.
He is survived by his wife; sons, J. Kevin and Scott, both of Peru., and Kerry (Janice), Syracuse, Ind.; daughters, Kathy (Robbie) Conner, Kelly (Doug) Feller, and Karla (Jeff) Sinkovics, all of Peru; Kim (Stu) Thompson, Peoria, Ill., Kristy (Phil) Lane, Mexico, Ind., and Koleen Murphy, Hopkinsville, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; brothers, William, Wichita, Kan., Raymond, Grand Forks, Thomas, Manvel, N.D., Ronald, Fisher, Minn., and Dennis, Bemidji; and sisters, Susie Gaines, Denison, Texas, and Peggy Tillman, Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Charles Catholic Church, Peru.
Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Military Rites: VFW and American Legion. Memorials are suggested to Miami County Cancer, St. Charles Parochial School Trust Fund, or Wabash-Miami County Home Hospice.
Olive Murphy
LARIMORE, N.D. -- Olive Murphy, 95, Larimore, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in Northwood (N.D.) Deaconess Health Center.
Olive Mary Frederick was born Aug. 7, 1905, the daughter of Charles and Carrie (Engen) Frederick, in Boise, Idaho. She moved with her family to Mountain Home, Idaho, and Erskine, Minn., where she graduated from high school. She married
Maurice Murphy on Nov. 28, 1928, in Crookston. They farmed in the McCanna, N.D., area until 1973 when they retired and moved to Larimore. Maurice Murphy died May 2, 1975.
She is survived by a son, William "Spud" (Bette), McCanna; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom, White Salmon, Wash.; and a sister, Nina Robertson, Devine, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a brother; and four sisters.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Stephens Church.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Brown Funeral Home, Larimore, with an 8 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, St. Stephens Church, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
Beverly Butterwick
Beverly J. Butterwick, 71, Pipestone, Minn., formerly of Grand Forks, died of cancer, Aug. 4, 2000, in Woodbury, Minn.
Beverly J. Smith was born Jan. 9, 1929, the daughter of Claud and Bessie (Ditmeyer) Smith, in Pipestone, where she graduated from high school in 1946. She married
Darrell Butterwick on Aug. 13, 1949, in Pipestone. They lived in Pipestone until 1953, when they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. In 1960, they moved to Montevideo, Minn., and to St. Paul in 1961. They moved to Grand Forks in 1970. In 1972, they returned to Sioux Falls. In 1984, they returned to St. Paul. In 1989, they moved to Pierre, S.D., and returned to St. Paul in 1993.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Valerie (Robert) Miller, Brainerd, Minn., and Deborah (Mark) Hubbell, Salem, Ore.; a son, David (Mary), Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; and a sister, Helen (Joseph) Carson, St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Cleona Atwood, Iola Sutter, LoRayne Palm and Marjorie Hildebrand.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Peace United Methodist Church, Pipestone.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: New Woodlawn Cemetery, Pipestone (Hart-¨quist, Pipestone).
Charles French
OAKWOOD, N.D. -- Charles French, 87, Oakwood, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in Good Samaritan Center, Park River, N.D.
Charles French was born Sept. 1, 1913, the son of Homer and Clarinda (Campbell) French, in Oakwood, where he attended school. He worked on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 10, 1942, to May 17, 1946, during World War II. He returned to Oakwood. He married
Florence Osowski on Sept. 24, 1946, in Minto, N.D.
He is survived by his wife; children, Mary (John) Eng, Minneapolis, Greg, Grand Forks, Charlotte (Frank) Foley, Huntsville, Ala., and Michael and Peter, both of Oakwood; six grandchildren; and sisters, Cecila Sass, Tacoma, Wash., Theresa Murphy, Seattle, and Agnes Stewert, Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tony.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakwood.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and 8 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Tuesday, all in Henriksen-Kamrowski Funeral Home, Grafton, N.D.
Burial: Church cemetery.

Anna Zinter
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Anna Zinter, 89, Thief River Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls.
Anna Zinter was born June 25, 1911, the daughter of Karl and Clara Fredericke (Liersch) Zinter, in Parkers Prairie, Minn. She moved with her family to St. Hilaire, Minn., in 1912, where she attended school. She worked as a housekeeper in Minneapolis-St. Paul. She later returned to Thief River Falls, where she worked in the Sewing Department for Arctic. She also worked for Stordahl Trucking as a bookkeeper.
She is survived by two nieces.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Esther Beiswenger and Hedweg "Hattie" Steumke; and brothers, Adolph, Emil, Arthur, Carl, and William.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, St. John Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls (Green, Thief River Falls).
