Jerome Gangelhoff
Jerome F. "Jerry" Gangelhoff, 60, Alta Loma, Calif., formerly of Grand Forks, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000.
Jerome F. Gangelhoff was born March 31, 1940, the son of William and Sophia (Northway) Gangelhoff, in Grand Forks, where he graduated from high school in 1958. In 1964, he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as an operations engineer. He married
Linda Stewart on Sept. 13, 1974. She died April 22, 1995.
He is survived by brothers, Theodore (Linda), Fargo, William (Shirley), San Mateo, Calif., and Harold (Mary Ann), Grand Forks; and sisters, Deloris (Daniel) Smith, Grand Forks, and Pearl (Paul) Johnson, Hibbing, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer; and sisters, Eva Harpster and Evelyn Donnelly.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 6: 30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Burial: Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery.
James Brower
CROOKSTON -- James H. "Jim" Brower, 81, Crookston, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
James H. Brower was born in Eldred, Minn., where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to the Crookston area. He married
Grace Trask on Jan. 14, 1947, in Crookston. They farmed with his brother, John, near Eldred. He retired in the late 1990s.
He is survived by his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Jenny DeYoung.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.
Military rites: Crookston Veterans Council.
Mathody Slominski
Mathody "Matt" Slominski, 84, Parkwood Place, Grand Forks, formerly of Ardock, Minn., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Mathody Slominski was born Oct. 17, 1916, the son of John and Emma (Walski) Slominski, in Ardock. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Idaho. He married
Rose Bishop on Nov. 20, 1939, in Warsaw. He worked in Chicago for International Harvester and Armor's Packing before moving back to the Ardock area in 1943. He farmed and worked campaigns for American Crystal Sugar at the Oslo beet dump and worked for more than 20 years for Western Fruit Express.
He is survived by a daughter, Jeannette (Ted) Stoltman, Thief River Falls; sons, Fred (Marie), and Ardell, both of Ardock; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond, Concord, Calif.; and a sister, Madeline LoIacono, Chicago.
He was preceded in death by a son, James; brothers, Tom and Ted; and a sister, Rafina.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Warsaw, N.D.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.
William Hallameck
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- William "Bill" H. Hallameck, 92, Thief River Falls, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in Littleton, Colo.
William Henry Hallameck was born Oct. 12, 1908, the son of Emery and Anna Hallameck, in Kinbrae, Minn. He lived in southern Minnesota until 1919, when he moved with his family to St. Hilaire, Minn. He attended school in Fulda, Minn., and St. Hilaire. He moved to Washington, D.C., in 1927. He went to Lambert Field in St. Louis and received instruction in flying. In June 1928, he received his pilot license and returned to fly for Huffsmith Flying Service, Grand Forks. He married
Grace Richards on June 5, 1933, in Red Lake Falls, Minn. They moved to Thief River Falls, where they farmed and raised turkeys. In 1941, they moved to Red Lake Falls, where they farmed until their retirement in 1977. They lived on the farm and in Thief River Falls.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert, Englewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Hallameck, Littleton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Emil; and sisters, Molly Hallameck, Louise Engen, Agnes Crawford, Cecelia Hallameck, Josephine Hallameck and Julia Hallameck.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Alma Heine
Alma R. Heine, 94, Salinas, Calif., formerly of Grand Forks, died Nov. 20, 2000.
Alma Rosine Olsen was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Wells County, N.D. She attended high school and college and taught school in North Dakota until 1928. She married
Irving Oehler in 1928. They moved to Portland, Ore. He died in 1934. She returned to North Dakota, where she taught school. She became deputy register of deeds for Sheridan County, N.D., until moving to Grand Forks. She continued her education and worked for the North Dakota Mill and Elevator Co., where she was manager of the advertising department for 25 years. She married
Robert Heine in 1965. They moved to Denver. In 1971, they retired to Green Valley, Ariz. Robert Heine died in 1974. In 1990, she moved to Salinas.
She is survived by sons, Donald Oehler, Bellingham, Wash., and Gerald Oehler, Salinas; stepdaughters, Luella Stocker, Green Valley, and Roslie Grund, West Bend, Wis.; stepsons, Robert Heine Jr., Drayton, N.D., and Wayne Heine, Tucson, Ariz.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman, New Salem, N.D.
Memorial services: Were held in Salinas.
Burial: Garden of Memories Cemetery
(Healey, Salinas).
Roy Holth
CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Roy C. Holth, 81, Carrington, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Carrington Health Center.
Roy Clarence Holth was born March 6, 1919, the son of John and Tressa (Greitl) Holth, in Barlow, N.D. He attended school in Foster County, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for four years during World War II. He married
Helen March on Sept. 20, 1947, in Carrington. They farmed in the Barlow area until moving to Carrington in December 2000.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Candus (Rod) Haas, Yakima, Wash.; a son, John (Claire), Carrington; a daughter-in-law, Diane Holth, Rugby, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Mary Sinkler, New Rockford, N.D.; and brothers, Norman, Los Gatos, Calif., Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., and Fred, Port Angeles, Wash.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles; and five sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Federated Church, Carrington.
Visitation: Noon to 5 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday all in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
Burial: Barlow Cemetery.
Military rites: VFW McCreary-Bonderud Post No. 3524 of Carrington.
