Roy Lundby
Roy V. Lundby, 82, 901 University Ave., died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at home.
Roy Vernon Lundby was born Jan. 18, 1918, the son of Carl and Clara (Haugen) Lundby, in Grand Forks, where he attended high school. He joined the North Dakota National Guard on April 1, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army until Nov. 20, 1945. He returned to Grand Forks, where he owned and operated several restaurants, including The Great Northern Cafe and Roy's Cafe. He retired in 1972. He married
Gertrude Dunnigan on June 10, 1947. She died Feb. 20, 1998.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Alex) Scott, Norcross, Ga., Linda (Tom) Suitt, Roxboro, N.C., Barbara Sobolik, Mandan, N.D., Kristi (Gerald) Ness and Katy (Brian) Gerstner, both of Grand Forks; sons, Larry, Wayne, Patrick (Thomia), and Jerry (Laurie), all of Grand Forks, and Michael (Barb), East Grand Forks; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Engquist, Forest Lake, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Sobolik; and a brother-in-law, Edgar Engquist.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, South Washington St.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. today, with a 3: 30 p.m. rosary, and one hour before services, all in the funeral chapel.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.

Mary Carrington
BELCOURT, N.D. -- Mary Carrington, 62, Belcourt, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, in Trinity Medical Center, Minot.
Mary Margaret Carrington was born Feb. 5, 1938, the daughter of James and Eva (Swain) Carrington, in Metamora, Ill. She graduated from high school in Piken, Ill. She attended college for one year at North Dakota State University, Bottineau, and one year at Mary College, Bismarck. She was a nurse's aide at the Illinois State Hospital, Bartonville, Ill., and then had temporary part-time jobs. In 1971, she returned to the Turtle Mountain, N.D., area. She worked for Queen of Peace Monastery, Belcourt.
She is survived by brothers, Tex and Ben, both of Belcourt, Norman and LeGrande "Joe, " both of Pekin, and Eugene, Green Valley, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt.
Burial: Church cemetery

Marlyn Knight
FINLEY, N.D. -- Marlyn J. Knight, 61, Finley, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at home.
Marlyn Johnson was born Feb. 25, 1939, the daughter of Conrad and Winnie (Baker) Johnson, in Hope, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Pillsbury, N.D., and graduated from high school in Hope. She married
Ronald Knight on Sept. 28, 1958, in Hope. They lived on the Knight Farm near Page, N.D., before moving to Colgate, N.D., where they farmed until moving back to the Knight Farm. In 1970, they moved to Finley, where she worked for Finley Variety Store.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Cindy (LeRoy) Richards, Fargo; sons, Keith (Joanie), Arnold, Neb., Kevin and Lyle (Jenny), both of Finley, and Roger, Valley City, N.D.; four grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Erdmann, Hope, and Marlys (Bill) Jacobson, Finley; and a brother, Conrad (Darlene), Valley City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Delborn Erdmann; half sisters, Kathy Malme and Arlene Bonawitz; and a half brother, Clifford.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Assembly of God Church, Finley.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Finley.
Burial: Finley Cemetery.
Barton Johnson
GLENFIELD, N.D. -- Barton J. Johnson, 50, Glenfield, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in Carrington (N.D.) Health Care Center.
Barton Jay Johnson was born April 17, 1950, the son of LeRoy and June (Johnson) Johnson, in Kensal, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Glenfield. He graduated from high school in Glenfield-Sutton in 1968. He farmed with his dad and brother, Jon, near Glenfield, and was a dealer for Mycogen Seed Co. He married
Iris Aasness on Oct. 1, 1983, in Glenfield.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kayla, at home; sons, Jay, Kent and Ross, all at home; his parents, Glenfield; brothers, Robert (Jan), New Hope, Minn., Brach (Marian), Bismarck, and Jon (Sherry), Glenfield; and a sister, Julie (LeRoy) Haase, Monango, N.D.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Midkota High School, Glenfield.
Visitation: Noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, N.D.
Burial: Glenfield Cemetery.
Frieda Goetz
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Frieda Goetz, 99, Thief River Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Frieda Amelia Eberl was born Sept. 9, 1901, the daughter of Anton and Christina (Kupferschmidt) Eberl, in Dubuque, Iowa, where she attended school. She worked at Roshek Brothers Department Store in Dubuque. She married
the Rev. William Goetz on June 15, 1937. They lived in Dubuque, Clinton and Tripoli, Iowa. In 1959, they returned to Dubuque. The Rev. William Goetz Sr. died Jan. 26, 1964. She moved to Thief River Falls in 1997.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary (the Rev. John) Jorgenson, Middle River, Minn.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Jr.; sisters, Alvina Eberl, Christine Berg and Lilly Fettkether; and brothers, Anton and Edwin.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Funeral Home.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour before services in Green Funeral Home.
Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque.
Tyrone Hammargren
Tyrone "T-Bone" Hammargren, 31, 820 S. 19th St., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in Altru Hospital.
Tyrone Hammar-¨gren was born Jan. 18, 1969, the son of Floyd and Sharon (Wilson) Hammar-¨gren, in Cambridge, Minn. He grew up and graduated from high school in East Grand Forks in 1987. He worked at Skinner Roofing, MC Roofing, Northern Potato and American Crystal Sugar, East Grand Forks.
He is survived by a daughter, Tyra Ann Hipsher, Grand Forks; his mother, Sharon Hammargren, Grand Forks; his father Floyd (Sally), Park Rapids, Minn.; sisters, Tamara Hammargren, Grand Forks, and T (Jeff) Durbin, Crookston; brothers, Troy (Laura), East Grand Forks, and Trace (Pam), Grand Forks; a half sister, Missy Mueller, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; and his grandmother, Myrtle Wilson, Hillsboro, N.D.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Arnold Wilson and Gilbert and Evelyn Hammargren.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
