Fred Lambrix
CROOKSTON -- Fred G. Lambrix, 85, Crookston, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks.
Fred G. Lambrix was born Dec. 23, 1914, the son of Albert and Isabel (Chene) Lambrix, in Monroe County, Mich. He attended school in Wyandot, Mich. He married
Opal Bergum on Dec. 28, 1940, in Ecorse, Mich. He worked in retail his whole life. He co-owned and operated Fred and Larry's Party Store, Rockwood, Mich. He retired in 1976 and moved to Maple Bay, Minn. They spent their winters in Pharr, Texas. They moved to Crookston in 1998.
He is survived by his wife; sons, David (Cindy), Houston, and George (Gayle), Carleton, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Howard (Dorothy), Trenton, Mich.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Archie and Lawrence; and sisters, Ruth and Diana.
Services: Were held in Fertile, Minn.
Burial: St. Joseph Catholic (Fredrikson, Fertile).
Lt. Col. Kenneth Jackson
Lt. Col. Kenneth E. Jackson, 55, 3003 Legend Lane, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at home.
Kenneth Edward Jackson was born Sept. 14, 1944, the son of William and Virginia (Anderson) Jackson, in Norfolk, Va. He attended school near Columbia, S.C. He received his bachelor's degree from the Citadel Military Academy, Columbia. He joined the U.S. Air Force on Sept. 15, 1967. He served during the Vietnam War. He married
Jill Scott on Jan. 4, 1977, in Warrensburg, Mo. He received his master's degree through the Community College of the Air Force in 1982. He commanded a ground launch cruise missile squadron in Germany from 1986 to 1988. He moved to Grand Forks in 1988 and was commander of a missile squadron for the B-1B Bomber. From August 1990 to August 1992, he served in support of operation Desert Shield/Storm. He retired from the Air Force on Aug. 31, 1992. He owned and operated Mailboxes Etc., on Gateway Drive from 1992 until 1997.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Scott and Gavin, both of Grand Forks; his father, Columbia; and a sister, Linda (Jeff) Dahlin, Columbia.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kenley.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Norman Funeral Home, Columbia Road.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Burial: Sunset Hill Cemetery, Warrensburg.
Military rites U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, Grand Forks Air Force Base.
Alvina Jorgenson
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Alvina B. Jorgenson, 83, Grafton, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, in Unity Medical Center, Grafton.
Alvina B. Thompson was born Feb. 10, 1917, the daughter of Sam and Bella (Erickson) Thompson, in Grafton, where she graduated from high school. She attended business college in Grand Forks. She worked at the State School in Grafton. She married
Otto Jorgenson on June 11, 1941, in Grafton. She worked at JC Penney, Grafton, until her retirement in 1977. Otto Jorgenson died May 31, 1978.
She is survived by daughters, Beverly Halvorson, Grand Forks, and Lana Jorgenson, Fargo; a son-in-law, Dennis Weaver, Fargo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Weaver; a son-in-law, Larry Halvorson; and brothers, Clarence and Henry.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Grafton Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
Agnes Boyle
NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. -- Agnes Boyle, 86, New Rockford, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, in Carrington (N.D.) Health Center.
Agnes B. Dyrness was born Feb. 19, 1914, the daughter of Martin and Laura (Peterson) Dyrness, in Brantford, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Emmett Boyle on March 26, 1940. She worked for Super Valu. They farmed near Rockford until 1953, when they moved into New Rockford. Emmett Boyle died Feb. 11, 1995.
She is survived by sons, Tom (Nancy), Brainerd, Minn., and Marty (Patty), Bismarck; daughters, Patricia (George) Poff, Espyville, Pa., and Rebecca (Bruce) Byrum, Spearfish, S.D., and Jennie (Dan) Laber, Rhinelander, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Zetter, Sheyenne, N.D., and Ellen (Chester) Meier, Jamestown; and brothers, Myron, Allentown, Pa., Kenneth (Dorothy), Eugene, Ore, and Roger (Halia), Cottonwood, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; and brothers, Leonard, Edwin, Rudolph and Truman.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford.
Visitation: 1 to 6 p.m. today, Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in the church.
Burial: St. John's Cemetery, New Rockford.
Gustav Ruther
CROOKSTON -- Gustav "Gus" Ruther, 83, Crookston, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Gustav Ruther was born July 9, 1917, the son of Henry and Anna (Von Holdt) Ruther, in Beltrami, Minn., where he attended school. He farmed and raised horses in the Melvin area until 1961. He married
Clara Gulleson on Feb. 12, 1961. They moved to Moorhead, where he worked at Cass Clay Creamery in Fargo. After a year, they moved to Crookston, where he worked at the fertilizer plant. In 1964, they moved to Garfield, Wash., where he worked as a custodian at Pullman University. He retired in 1980 and they moved to Rutland, N.D. Clara Ruther died in 1994. In 1997, he moved to Crookston, and was living in Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home.
He is survived by a sister, Alice Dale, Crookston; a brother, Herman, Moorhead; sisters-in-law, Dora Ruther, Moorhead, and Dorothy Ruther, Minneapolis; and a brother-in-law, Harvey Kruse, Fargo.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Kruse, Elizabeth Miller, Edna and Loretta; a brother, Theodore; and a brother-in-law, Ted Miller.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Crookston.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Joseph Blair
Joseph A. Blair, 75, Grand Forks, formerly of Watertown, S.D., died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Beach, N.D., as a result of an automobile accident.
Joseph A. Blair was born July 29, 1925, the son of James and Laura (Rose) Blair, in New Bedford, Mass. He moved to North Dakota with his family. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II, where he received several awards including the National Defense Service Medal, American Theater Service Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal. He also received the Presidential Citation Award for bravery. After his discharge he moved to Grand Forks until re-enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned to North Dakota until 1958, when he moved to Montana, where he did ranch work. He married
Sonya Semenza in 1963, in Bab, Mont. In 1972, he moved to Grand Forks, where he owned and operated the Garden Hut of Grand Forks. He moved to Watertown in 1989.
He is survived by sons, Curtis, in West Virginia, Joseph (Julie), Helena, Mont., and Todd (Cynthia), Watertown; daughters, Brenda (Maynard) Werre, Buxton, N.D., and Laura Blair, Grand Forks; and 18 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Wight and Fox Funeral Chapel, Watertown.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today and before services in the funeral chapel.
Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown.
Military rites: Frank H. Adams Post 750 of the VFW.
Jack Fischer
LAKOTA, N.D. -- Jack Fischer, 69, Lakota, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in Good Samaritan Center, Lakota, where he had lived since Oct. 6, 2000.
Jack Fischer was born May 8, 1931, in Casselton, N.D., where he grew up and attended school. He worked for the Ford dealership in Casselton. In the early 1960s, he move to Michigan, N.D., where he worked on area farms. He retired in the 1980s.
He is survived by sons, Allen (Denise) Fischer, Minneapolis, Jack (Terry) Ham, Deerwood, Minn.; daughters, Debra (Tim) Spahn, Minneapolis, Denise Fischer, Long Beach, Calif., and Doreen (Tyler) Mummert, Casa Grande, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a half brother; and three half sisters.
Graveside services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Leo's Cemetery, Casselton (West, Casselton).
