Marion Ola Anderson
Funeral services for Marion Ola Anderson, 80, Litchville, were held on Monday, October 22, 2001 at High Prairie Lutheran Church, LaMoure. Reverend Gayler Korsmo officiated. Mrs. Anderson died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at her home near Litchville.
Marion Ola Shaw, daughter of Ralph and Laura (Page) Shaw, was born on October 13, 1921 in Millinocket, Maine, where she grew up and attended school. After graduating from Sterns High School in Millinocket, she attended nursing school in Somerville, Mass., graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1942.
On November 21, 1942, she married
Palmer Anderson in Somerville. The couple lived in Somerville until moving to the Litchville area in 1951. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the hospital and in the nursing home in LaMoure. For the past 20 years, Marion and Palmer have wintered in Apache, Junction, Ariz. Marion was a member of High Prairie Lutheran Church, where she was very active, serving as Superintendent of Sunday School and President of Ladies’ Aid. She was a long-time 4-H leader and taught Farmers Union classes in the area.
She is survived by her husband, Palmer, Litchville; three sons, Stephen (Ellie) Anderson, Littleton, Colo., Richard (Kaylyn) Anderson, Litchville, and David (Sandy) Anderson, Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Randi Lee Anderson, Fairfax, Va., Julie (Jeff) Klein, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Christine (Ernie) Wiese, Littleton, Colo.; one brother, Page Shaw, and one sister, Barbara Elliot, both of Millinocket, Maine; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Amos Klein, Philip Klein, Matthew Anderson, Melissa Anderson, Emily Anderson and Rebecca Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Marion’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Margaret Sandness.
Interment at High Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, LaMoure.

Mary M. Lewis
Funeral services for Mary M. Lewis, 71, Fargo, were held on Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo. She died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Mary M. Walz, daughter of Christian and Mathilda (Schick) Walz, was born on June 22, 1930 at Pettibone, N.D. She grew up and was educated at Pettibone. She attended high school at Jamestown. She then moved to California.
On August 20, 1947, she married
Ed Liberda in Jamestown. He died in a plane crash in January 1958 in Maryland. Mary and her two children, Louise and Ed, moved to Jamestown.
On July 1, 1960, she married
Robert J. Lewis in Jamestown. Bob and his three children, Mike, Danny and Karyn, along with Mary and her two children, moved to Fargo. In 1963, they started Lewis Truck Lines and moved to Lisbon where they lived until 1984. In 1984, they moved the headquarters for Lewis Truck Lines to Fargo and moved with the family as well. Mary served as vice-president with Lewis Truck Lines and worked until March 2000, when she was diagnosed with cancer. She was very active in her church in Lisbon and at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo. She was a member of Homemakers Club and the Business and Professional Women in Lisbon. She was a member of the RCCC and the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association. After moving to Fargo, she joined the Soroptimist Club and served as its president. She also served on the Cass County Development Association as a board member and with Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND as a board member and had also served on an advisory board. In 2000, she became the first and only woman to receive the Pioneer Carrier Award from the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Lewis, Fargo; four sons, Ed (Nancy) Liberda, Fargo, Mike (Maureen) Lewis, Gilbert, Ariz., Danny Lewis, Fargo, and Bob (Lhonda) Lewis, Jr., Fargo; three daughters, Louise (Earl) Johnson, Fargo, Karyn (Bob) Fulton, West St. Paul, Minn., and Beth (Todd) Mairs, Fargo; four brothers, Ruben (Grace) Walz, Jamestown, Marvin (Linda) Walz, West Fargo, Bob Walz, Seattle, Wash., and Thom (Denise) Walz, Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Elsie Cuffe, Seattle, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Liberda; one brother, Gene Walz; one sister, Leona Walz; and grandchild, Christian Lewis.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.

Lawrence M. Weiler
Funeral services for Lawrence M. Weiler, 87, Forest Lake, Minn., were held on Monday, November 5, 2001at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Forest Lake. Mr. Weiler died Monday, October 29, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; one son, Richard Weiler, Prior Lake, Minn.; two daughters Judith (Tim) Vaughn, Cambridge, Minn. and Rebecca (Tom) Somers, Minnetonka, Minn. six grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Fanlsing, Midland, Mich. and Loretta (Edward) Madsen, Port Richie, Fla.; and one brother, Robert (Beverly) Weiler, Dickinson.
Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

Marion A. Anderson
Marion A. Anderson, 87, Sandy, Ore., died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 in Sandy.
Marion A. Jones was born to Earland Marion (Miur) Jones on October 20, 1914 in Buffalo. She attended and graduated from Valley High School, Valley City in 1932.
On November 14, 1934, she married
Elwood Anderson. In 1957, they moved from Valley City to Lisbon. In 1978, they moved to Sandy, Ore.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood Anderson, Sandy, Ore.; two daughters, Claudia Richman, Redmond, Ore. and Karen Duke, Klamath Falls, Ore.; one son, Gene Anderson, Sandy Ore.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Klima
Funeral services for Mary Klima, 89, LaMoure, were held on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure. Father Julian Kupisz officiated. Miss Klima died Sunday, October 28, 2001 at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes.
Mary Klima, daughter of Frank and Mary (Homolka) Klima, was born March 18, 1912 in Gresham, Neb. In 1918, she moved to Merricourt, N.D. and attended grade school, later attending and graduating from Edgeley High School, Edgeley, in 1929. After high school, Mary attended Ellendale Normal School, Ellendale, and Dakota Business College, Fargo. She worked at Corwin-Churchill Auto Dealership, Fargo, as a bookkeeper. The then moved to LaMoure and worked for Farmers Co-op Creamery as a bookkeeper. In 1953, she was elected the LaMoure County Treasurer and held the position for 34 years, retiring in 1987. Mary became a resident at the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure in January 2001. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure.
She is survived by one sister, Helen Roth, Verona; one sister-in-law, Ruby Klima, laMoure; and nine nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, one niece and two nephews.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Charles Struble, Doug Smith, Tom Christensen, Gary Kraft, Shawn Smith and Jason Jones.
Music was provided by organist Sue Goehring and guitarist Norm Goehring.
Interment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edgeley.

Donna Jean Zuege
Memorial services for Donna Jean Zuege, 42, Milnor, formerly Nekoosa, Wisc., were held on Saturday, November 3, 2001 at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Milnor. Reverend Arthur Larson officiated. Ms. Zuege died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 following an automobile accident near Lisbon.
Donna Jean Zuege, daughter of Dale and Edna (Stevens) Zuege, was born on January 16, 1959 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. She grew up and attended school in Nekoosa, graduating from Nekoosa High School in 1977. She worked various jobs in the Nekoosa area before moving with her children to Milnor in 1996. While living in the Milnor area, Donna worked at J & M Printing, Gwinner; the Milnor Improvement and the Hillside Motel and Convenience Store, both in Milnor. She also worked at the Pizza Ranch in Lisbon. She was also a member of a local dart league in Milnor.
She is survived by two daughters, Brandi (Lonnie) Dekat, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Danielle Zuege, Breckenridge, Minn.; one son, Jeremy Zuege, Wheatland, Wyo.; her mother, Edna Zuege, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; three brothers, Michael (Judith) Zuege, Wisconsin Rapids, David (Nancy) Zuege and Steven (Melody) Zuege, all of Nekoosa, Wis.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were Laura Gibbon, Mitch Gibbon, Tim Thayer, Karla Rall, Harold Sands and Jean Haugen.

Ellis Wiltse
Ellis Wiltse, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, died Thursday, October 25, 2001. He is the brother of Wilma Schultz.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 9, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church, Lisbon.
Melvin Doss
Funeral services for Melvin Doss, 80, Edgeley, were held on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley. Pastor Alan Eppen officiated. Mr. Doss died on Friday, October 26, 2001 at the North Dakota Veteran’s Home, Lisbon.
Melvin Martin Doss, son of John and Alwina (Prahl) Doss, was born on March 4, 1921 in Edgeley. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Edgeley, graduating from Edgeley High School in 1940. He attended ND State School of Science. On October 16, 1942, he enlisted in the Army Signal Corp where he served until February 21, 1946 with the 4025 Signal Service Group in the campaigns of New Guinea, the Southern Philippines and Luzon, attaining the rank of T/3. Following his tour of service, he returned to North Dakota and farmed south of Edgeley.
On July 9, 1960, he married
Violet Klima at Edgeley and they continued farming until 1978 when he went to work for Farmers Union Oil Company. He retired in 1995 and moved to the North Dakota Veteran’s Home in Lisbon in 2001. Melvin was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, being baptized on April 1, 1921 and confirmed on April 14, 1935. He served as clerk for Golden Glen Township for 20 years and served on the boards Land O’ Lakes and the Credit Union.
He is survived by one stepdaughter, Lona (Richard) Mathern, Edgeley; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet Doss in 1999; one sister, Esther Hartman; and one brother, Erwin.
Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.

Milton Whitmore
Memorial services for Milton Whitmore, 74, Finley, N.D., were held on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at Hope American Legion Hall, Hope, N.D. Mr. Whitmore died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 in Union Hospital, Mayville.
Milton Whitmore, son of Dewitt and Amanda (Mitchell) Whitmore, was born on August 12, 1927 in Hope. He grew up and attended school there.
On October 19, 1950, he married
Joanne Nelson in Clifford, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged, he returned to the Hope area, where he began farming. Milton owned and operated the Gamble Store, was Chief of Police, Head of City Maintenance, all in Hope. In 1972, he began driving semi for the Melroe Company, Gwinner. Milton moved to Finley in 1989 and retired from trucking in 1990.
On December 4, 2000, he married
Bonnie Juran. The couple made their home in Finley.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Whitmore, Finley; two sons, Garth Whitmore, Crystal, Minn. and Gregory (Laura) Whitmore, Grand Forks; three daughters, Gail (Tyrone) Hauge, Finley, Gen (Robert) Weest, Austin, Tex., and Glorianne Whitmore, Brooten, Minn.; one stepson, Michael Juran, Fargo; one stepdaughter, Rachael Anderson, Lisbon; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one brother, Mason (Joyce) Whitmore, Hope; two sisters, LaDonna Whitemore, Fargo, and Nellie (Dwight) Foss, Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donavon Whitmore.
