Jerald H. Hilleson
Funeral services for Jerald H. Hilleson, 60, Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Veblen, S.D. were held on Friday, May 17, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Veblen, S.D. Reverend Suzanne Benidt officiated. Mr. Hilleson died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Fayetteville, N.C..
Jerald H. Hilleson, son of Howard and Evelyn (Engnes) Hilleson was born on October 15, 1941 in Marshall County, Veblen, S.D. He grew up in rural Veblen, and graduated from Veblen High School in 1959. He then enlisted into the U.S. Army on September 6, 1960.
On November 7, 1960, he married
Virginia Anderson. He served with the Special Forces and the Green Beret in Vietnam, Thailand, Germany, Fort Bragg, N.C., and achieved the highest enlisted rank of Sergeant Major. He then retired from the service on November 30, 1984 at Fort Bragg, N.C., and they lived in Fayetteville since his retirement. Jerald was a member of the Veblen American Legion Eddie Robertson Post #76.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia K. Hilleson, Fayetteville, N.C.; four daughters, Carol Joe (George) Bryant, Alexandria, Va., Jerrilynn (Neil) Robinson, Waxhaw, N.C., Stephanie Carson, Charlotte, N.C., and Cindy (Warren) McLamb, Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Gregory Hilleson, Gwinner, N.D.; two sisters, Diane (Dennis) Schuder, Lidgerwood, N.D., and Cheryl (Howard) Kath, Lidgerwood, N.D.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Hilleson and Evelyn Rein..
Pallbearers for the funeral were Steve Hagenson, Charles Guy, Keith Guy, Jeff Olson, Harlan Hilleson and Ronald Haaland. Honorary Pallbearers were Darrell Olson, Aaron Anderson and Gerald Heitmann and members of the Veblen American Legion Eddie Roberts Post #76.
Music was provided by organist Vivian Monson and soloist Joan Anderson.

Roland W. Lindemann
Funeral services for Roland W. Lindemann, 81, Enderlin, were held on Friday, May 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Mr. Lindemann died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at his home near Enderlin.
Roland W. Lindemann, son of Reinhard and Adeline (Flath) Lindemann was born on December 14, 1920, rural Lucca, N.D. He graduated from Lucca High School. He had served in the U.S. Army and was discharged September 25, 1943. Rollie farmed near Enderlin, retiring from farming in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Reinhard Lindemann, Jr., Earl Lindemann, and John Lindemann.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Paul Lindemann, Ryan Lindemann, Jarrod Lindemann, Paul Lindemann, Gary Lindemann, and Virgil Warner.
Music was provided by organist Joan Schlecht and soloist Sylvia Schlagel.
Interment at Lucca Cemetery.

Wilma E. Vosburg
Memorial services for Wilma E. Vosburg, 80, Lisbon, were held on Saturday, May 18 at First United Presbyterian Church, Lisbon. Reverend Beth Conrad officiated. Mrs. Vosburg died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Lisbon Medical Center Nursing Home.
Wilma E. Martin, daughter of William and Gertrude (Johnson) Martin was born on April 14, 1922, at rural Lisbon. In 1930 Wilma moved to Cogswell, N.D. with her family. She attended school in Forman N.D. graduating in 1940. In 1945 she moved to Vancouver, Wash.
On June 14, 1945, she married
Woodrow W. Osborne in Vancouver, Wash. He died March 5, 1953. She married
Robert E. Vosburg on October 3, 1954 in Lisbon. He died in February 1988. In 1946 they moved to Bristol, Va., then Florida and Tennessee. Wilma returned to North Dakota in October 1953. She worked at the Fountain Inn until her marriage to Robert. She helped raise four grandchildren. She was a member of Friends and had served on the Food Pantry Board until 1992.
She is survived by one son, Douglas B. Osbourne, San Diego, Calif; and one daughter, Mary A. (Dana) Headley, Manteca, Calif.; and one sister, Enid Martin, Lisbon. She was preceded in death by her husbands Woodrow Osbourne and Robert Vosburg, daughter Billie, and one sister, Vyrlee Barringer.

Verne A. Belzer
Funeral services for Verne Allen Belzer, 68, were held on Friday, May 3, 2002, at First Church of the Nazarene, Minot. Pastor Scott Mehlhoff officiated. Mr. Belzer died Monday, April 29, 2002.
Verne Allen Belzer, son of Arthur and Marje (Seelye) Belzer was born on August 17, 1933, at Elliott, N.D. He was raised and educated in Big Bend Township of Ransom County. They family made their home at Lisbon for eight years and then Regent for two years. Verne Graduated from Regent High School in 1951. He attended Northwest Nazarene College from 1951-1954. He was drafted into the US Army in 1954, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1956. He served in the reserves until 1962.
On December 26, 1955, he married
Ruth Hatlestad, at the Church of the Nazarene in Velva, N.D. He returned to Northwest Nazarene College, where he graduated in May of 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion. They moved to Cut Bank,
Montana, where he served as Pastor of the Nazarene Church. In 1960, he was ordained and they moved to HIllsboro, where he served as pastor. Verne also served the Nazarene congregations in Ray and Beulah. The family moved to Velva in 1962, where he worked on various missile sites for the Minot Air Force Base. In 1964, they moved to Minot, where he was employed with Farmers Union. In 1967, he began employment with Radio Clinic of Minot, and purchased the business in 1977 and operated the business until 1988. He had been employed with Medical Arts Clinic, Rochester Armored Car, and True Value Hardware, and most recently as a clock repairman at Rick’s Jewelry. Verne was a longtime member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene, and he served on the church board, as a Sunday School superintendent, Adult Sunday School teacher, church secretary-treasurer and usher.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Belzer; three sons, Sid (Denese) Belzer, Rod (Tracey) Belzer, Rick (Tracy) Belzer; two daughters Lamica (Delynn McDaniel) Belzer and Millicent (Scott) Grosz; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; Twenty-one foster grandchildren; one sister, Karen Mangum, Nampa, Idaho, six brothers, Norman, Wesley, Gordon, David, Charles, and Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Gilbert McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were Verne’s family, friends, and the members of the Church of the Nazarene Casketbearers were Verne’s Siblings.

Duane E. Nelson
Funeral services for Duane E. Nelson, 66, Hitterdal, Minn., were held on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal. Pastors Jim Hulberg and Jill Steichen officiated. Mr. Nelson died on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, after a battle with cancer.
Duane Elmer Nelson, son of Elmer and Gladys (Reams) Nelson, was born on January 24, 1936 in Lisbon, where he grew up and attended school.
On June 8, 1954, she married
Beverly Jensen at North LaMoure Church. They made their home in Valley City where Duane worked for the State Highway Department. He served in the U.S. Army and also worked at McCurley’s Auto Body Repair. In 1971, they moved to Hitterdal where Duane worked for Modern Auto Glass in Fargo, drove truck, and later owned Nelson Body Shop in Hitterdal. He also worked for American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead for many years. He retired in 1993. He was active in the Hitterdal Area Lions and the Firemen. He was also a Boy Scout troop leader and was the caretaker at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Nelson, Hitterdal; three sons, David (Sherry) Nelson, Hitterdal, Tom (Debbie) Nelson, Dilworth, and Eric Nelson, Fargo; three daughters, Barb (Chuck) Agnew, Mahnomen, Minn., Krista (Steve) Dauner, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Sonya (special friend, Troy Goergen) Nelson, Moorhead; two sisters, Maxine (Burton) Langerud, Hawley, Minn., and Shirley (Al) Moreland, Grand Forks; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son (in 1971).
Interment at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Hitterdal.

Florence Wright
A graveside memorial service will be held for Florence Fairbanks Wright, former Lisbon resident, on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Florence passed away on February 11, 2002, in Bismarck at the age of 103.
All friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
Margaret C. Anderson
Funeral services for Margaret C. Anderson, 78, Gwinner, were held on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Gustaf Adolf Lutheran Church, Gwinner. Reverend Liz Engel officiated. Mrs. Anderson died on Sunday, May 12, 2002 at her home in Gwinner.
Margaret C. Bratlie, daughter of Haakon and Mabel (Nelson) Bratlie, was born on January 20, 1924 in rural Lisbon. She attended rural Lisbon School and Lisbon High School. She worked at the Penney’s store in Lisbon for a few years before her marriage.
On December 7, 1945, she married
Clair S. Anderson in rural Lisbon. In 1960, they moved into Gwinner. She operated the Gwinner Lanes restaurant for about a year. She then operated the Corner Cafe in Gwinner for a few years. She later cooked at Melroe Manufacturing in Gwinner for several years.
She is survived by one son, Sylvan (Lynn) Anderson, Gwinner; one daughter, Myrna Anderson, Mansfield, S.D.; one brother, Oscar (Julie) Bratlie, Lisbon; three sisters, Mildred Otto, Saratoga, Calif., Minnie (Ken) Stroh, Lisbon, and Marilyn (Don) Hock, Lisbon; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clair Anderson, who died May 9, 1978; and one brother, Norman Bratlie.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jim Hock, Rick Hock, Paul Stroh, Jay Stroh, Bob Bratlie and Kevin Bratlie, Clyde Bratlie and Randy Bratlie.
Music was provided by organist Naomi Vincent and soloist Julie Johnson.
Interment at Gwinner Cemetery.

Lois A. Anderson
Funeral services for Lois A. Anderson, 70, Dilworth, Minn., were held on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home Chapel, Moorhead. Mrs. Anderson died on Sunday, May 12, 2002 in her home in Dilworth.
Lois Ann Sours, daughter of David W. and Theresa E. (Jorgenson) Sours, was born on January 17, 1932 in Lisbon, where she grew up and attended school.
On January 3, 1951, she married
Vernon L. Anderson in Webster, S.D. They lived in Fargo before moving to farm near Glyndon, Minn., where she raised four children. They moved to a small farmstead near Hawley, Minn., where she stayed until her husband, Vernon, passed away on December 30, 1998. She lived in Dilworth until the time of her death.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Theresa) Anderson, Thief River Falls, Minn., Scott (Sheri) Anderson, Barnesville, Minn., and James (Diane) Anderson, Dilworth, Minn.; one daughter, Patricia Anderson, Dilworth; one step-daughter, Connie (Robert) Simon, Rapid City, S.D.; one brother, John (Nancy) Sours, Lisbon; four sisters, Darlene Enockson, Lisbon, Judy Spencer, Eden Prairie, Minn., Connie (Donald) Miller, Enderlin, and Laurie (Neil) Olerud, McLeod; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
