Inga Berg Hill
Funeral services for Inga Berg Hill, 82, Hankinson, were held on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hankinson. Pastor Phyllis Hagen officiated. Mrs. Hill died on Monday, July 15, 2002 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Inga Ealenor Livrud Berg Hill, daughter of Halvor and Anna (Sunde) Livrud, was born May 31, 1920, in Belview, Minn. She grew up and attended school through the eighth grade in Belview. She then moved to New Effington, S.D. with her family.
In 1946, she married
Einar Berg and they lived on a farm near New Effington. Einar passed away in 1962.
On May 31, 1964, she married
Harold Hill in Victor, S.D. They resided in Hankinson. Harold passed away on August 23, 1994. Inga continued to live in Hankinson. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Rachel (Dale) Wawers, Enderlin; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Einar Berg; her second husband, Harold Hill; and one sister, Gladys Rey.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Joshua Graupmann, Todd Wawers, Paul Graupmann, Norman Carlson, Kenny Anderson and George Knutsen.
Music was provided by organist Paul Buckhaus with special music my Naomi Fogderud.
Interment at Brandvold Cemetery, rural Victor, S.D.

Kenneth M. Opheim
Funeral services for Kenneth “Ken” M. Opheim, 82, Bismarck, were held on Monday, July 15, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Reverend Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. and Reverend Dr. Bradley R. Stoltenow officiated. Mr. Opheim died on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 in a Bismarck hospital.
Kenneth M. Opheim, son of Otto and Louise (Iverson) Opheim, was born September 26, 1919 in Fertile, Minn. He attended school at Fertile, graduating from Fertile High School. He then attended mechanics school in Chicago. He worked at Douglas Aircraft Corporation in California.
On April 30, 1944, he married
Katherine Zagortz in Long Beach, Calif. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In January 1947, they moved to Bismarck where they have since resided. Ken worked at the Bismarck Airport as an aircraft mechanic and then began working at Quality Builders Lumber Company where he worked for 35 years, including 25 years as manager. He retired in 1985. Katherine died in 1991.
On February 18, 1995, he married
Marlys Schmidt Haugeberg in Bismarck. Ken was active in the Sons of Norway and was a lifetime member of the Lloyd Spetz Post #1 American Legion. He also belonged to the International Lutheran Laymen’s League and was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Board of Lay Ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys Opheim, Bismarck; two daughters, Sandy (Wayne) Johnson, Garrison, and Mary Weber, Madison, Wis.; one son, Kenny (Shar) Opheim, Spirit Lake, Iowa; three stepsons, Brad (Corie) Haugeberg, Minot, Jarvis (Darci) Haugeberg, Huron, S.D., and Ross (Jan) Haugeberg, Lisbon; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Truman (Irene) Opheim, Fertile, Minn.; one sister, Florence Johnston, Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Katherine Opheim; and one sister, Opal Ausen.
Interment at First Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, Minn.

Lydia A. Sletmoe
Funeral services for Lydia A. Sletmoe, 93, Enderlin, were held on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Mrs. Sletmoe died on Sunday, July 14, 2002 at Lisbon Medical Center Nursing Home, Lisbon.
Lydia Roesler, daughter of Edward and Anna (Berndt) Roesler, was born on April 24, 1909 in rural Leonard. She attended rural school near Leonard.
On November 21, 1935, she married
Gustave A. Sletmoe in rural Leonard. They farmed near Leonard until 1974. In 1966, they moved to Enderlin.
She is survived by two sons, Norman (Carmen) Sletmoe, Leonard, and Gerald (Mary) Sletmoe, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; one daughter, Sharon Motter, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; one son-in-law, Eugene Camas, Embden, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gustave Sletmoe, who died August 29, 1983; one daughter, Elvera Camas; and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bunn Sletmoe.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Kurt Sletmoe, Kevin Camas, Stephen Sletmoe, Norman Motter, Allen Motter and Brian Kotschevar.
Music was provided by organist Joan Schlecht and soloist Sylvia Schlagel.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Forest E. (Frosty) Wills
Funeral services for Forest E. (Frosty) Wills, 78, Enderlin, were held on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin. Reverend Larry Guenther officiated. Mr. Wills died on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Forest E. Wills, son of Guy Hugh and Mary Ethel (Hager) Wills, was born on November 8, 1923 in Sedalia, Mo. He attended school in rural Sedalia, Mo. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Forest then worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Sedalia for a few years. He moved to Linton, N.D., where he established Wills Construction Co. He then moved to Enderlin where he also operated Wills Construction Co. In September 2001, he entered Maryhill Manor, Enderlin. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Chapter and Commandry, and El Zagal Shrine. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by one brother, Virgil (Edna) Wills, Sedalia, Mo., and one sister, Dorothy (Alvin) Niederwimmer, Sedalia, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pauline E. Pace.
Music was provided by organist Verna Armstrong and soloist Don Stansbery.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Jake E. Wipf
Jake Elvin Wipf, 74, Lisbon (formerly of Chaseley), died on Monday, July 15, 2002 at the North Dakota Veterans Home.
Jake Elvin Wipf, son of Joseph and Susanna (Kleinsasser) Wipf, was born on January 26, 1928 on his parents’ farm near Chaseley, where he grew up and received his education. At an early age, he worked as a farm hand and later joined the armed services. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea as a rifleman from August 1951 to August 1953. He earned the United National Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Purple Heart Medal. After his honorable discharge from the service, he worked for various construction firms in North Dakota.
He is survived by one brother, John Wipf, Havre, Mont.; five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, Joe, Elmer and Albert Wipf; and sisters, Emma and Katie Wipf.
Mr. Wipf requested that his body be donated to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.
Interment at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery
at a later date.

Phyllis Grant
Former Englevale school teacher Phyllis Grant, 94, Hillsboro, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 in Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home.
Phyllis Ester Pierce was born July 27, 1907, in Page, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Fargo and later attended Minnesota State University Moorhead and taught school in Lynchburg and Englevale. She married
Lars Grant on August 26, 19356. They lived in Walcott, N.D., Felton, Minn. and Borup, Minn. before moving to Hillsboro in 1946. He died in 1993. She is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Her funeral was held on Tuesday, July 2, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Frank G. Hagen
Frank G. Hagen, 76, Mesquite, Nev., died Friday, June 19, 2002 at his home in Mesquite. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Frank G. Hagen, son of Einar and Gena Hagen, was born on November 17, 1925 in rural Walcott, N.D. During World War II, Frank joined the Navy serving with the Seabees in Guam and Okinawa. Among other enterprises, he traveled as a truck driver from coast to coast.
He is survived by his wife, step-daughter and grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon (Kathleen) Hagen, Fargo, and Arthur (Evelyn) Hagen, Lisbon; two sisters, Myrtle Larkin, Kansas City, Kan., and Luverne (Richard) Hutchison, Hillsboro, N.D.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas, Elder and Grover Hagen; one son and one daughter.

Gary W. Rourke
Funeral services for Gary W. Rourke, 55, Barstow, Calif. (formerly Osnabrock, N.D.) were held on Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Dovre Lutheran Church, Osnabrock. Mr. Rourke died on Thursday, June 27, 2002 at his home in Barstow.
Gary W. Rourke, son of Leslie and Doris (Nelson) Rourke, was born July 2, 1946 in Langdon, N.D. He attended rural schools near Osnabrock and graduated from Osnabrock High School. He attended UND until he went into the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Following his discharge in 1969, he attended NDSU, graduating in 1974.
On June 12, 1971, he married
Beryl Plath in Davenport, N.D. The couple farmed in Eastview Township of Cavalier County. They then moved back to Fargo and he got his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics in 1989. The couple then moved to St. Paul, Minn. where he taught at the Century College. In July 1998, he moved to Barstow, Calif., where he was the administrator of the Barstow Community College until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl Rourke, St. Paul; two sons, Gavin and Ryan Rourke, both of St. Paul; one daughter, Tara Rourke, St. Paul; his parents, Leslie and Doris Rourke, Osnabrock; one brother, Keith (Lynelle) Rourke, Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Leonard Heck, Charles Ottem, Larry Schrader, Larry Koles, Craig Kram and Earl Sanders.
Military rites provided by the Osnabrock American Legion Post.
Interment at Union Cemetery, Osnabrock.
