Jack Adam Mumm, infant
Jack Adam Mumm, infant son of Adam and Ann Mumm of Wahpeton, N.D., died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Innovis Healthcare in Fargo, N.D.
Although not yet born, he was a beloved member of the family and a joy to his parents and sister, Marley.
They were only able to hold and cuddle him a short time, but they could not have loved him more. Now he is in heaven where he can be held and cuddled and loved by God, but he will live on in their hearts forever.
A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 26 at the Willow Creek Chapel (920 Third Avenue North) Wahpeton at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Alan R. Werth officiating.
Jack Adam will be forever loved by his parents, Adam and Ann Mumm, Wahpeton; a Guardian Angel to his sister, Marley and deeply missed by his grandparents, Paul and Liz Mumm, Wahpeton, and Richard and Marge Dudek, Minneapolis, Minn., and an extended family who will always hold him in their hearts.

E. Celeste Kvarness, 84
E. Celeste Kvarness, 84, DeLamerre, N.D., died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Twin Town Villa, Breckenridge, Minn., under the care of Riveredge Hospice.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural DeLamere, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday also at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
E. Celeste Martinson, daughter of Edgar and Clara (Friskop) Martinson, was born June 14, 1925, in a farm house near DeLamere. Her father died when she was 12 years old. She attended school at Hall No. 1 until eighth grade. She went on to DeLamere High School, and graduated from Milnor High School in 1942. Celeste worked for several area women and also at the DeLamere Café. She married
Arnold J. Kvarness on June 24, 1945, at Milnor, N.D. They were married
nearly 55 years and made their home on the same farm of her birth. The couple spent their lifetimes farming. Arnold died May 16, 2000.
Celeste was a member of DeLamere Lutheran Church and was a member of their Ladies Aid. She was presently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural DeLamere.
On June 26, 2008, Celeste was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. She lived at the St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge until September 2008, when she moved to Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge while undergoing treatment for cancer. Celeste had several hobbies, gardening and yard work being her favorites. She also loved baking apple pies, making lefse, scrapbooking, puzzle books and in her younger days, ice skating. Celeste kept a guest book and always had it ready for company to sign.
She is survived by: four daughters, Ardyce (Leonard) Smith, Miles City, Mont., Jeannine (Dean) Guida, Buffalo, Minn., Marie (David) Piper, Casselton, N.D., and Laurie (John) Schwan, Aberdeen, S.D.; one sister, Alice Schlotfeldt of Wahpeton N.D.; 12 grandchildren, David (Shannon), Christine and Valerie Smith, Nick (Michelle) and Greg Guida, Rachel (Bill) Line, Allison and Megan Piper, and Kyle, Kevin, Katie and Kory Schwan; and seven great-grandchildren, Bailee, Lainey and Kordt Smith, and Macie, Grady, Brylie and Aubrie Guida.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and husband Arnie.
Kirstin Cantler-Booke, 11 months
Kirstin Cantler-Booke, 11 months, Fairmount, N.D., died peacefully in the presence of her family Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Innovis Health in Fargo, N.D.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 31 at Living Waters Lutheran Church in Fargo.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery
in Fargo.
Kirstin Elizabeth was born Jan. 16, 2009, to Andrew Booke and Sydney Cantler in Fargo. She brought much joy and happiness to all those in her life. She will be forever in our homes and our hearts.
To all those who knew Kirstin: she was truly an Angel on earth and we know in our hearts that she is Top Angel in heaven.
Kirstin is survived by: her parents, Andrew Booke and Sydney Cantler, Fairmont; grandparents, Chris and Dawn (Wahlen) Cantler, Abercrombie, N.D., and Richard and Cindy (Schoephoerster) Booke, Wahpeton, N.D.; great-grandparents, Jacque and Duane Frisinger, Ron and Betty Cantler, Charlie Booke, and Dennis and Diane Bellet; and many aunts and uncles including her special uncle and godfather, Chase Cantler, Abercrombie, and uncle Dennis Booke, Hankinson, N.D., and special family friend, Norma Nosek.
She was preceded in death by: her great-grandfather, Stan Wahlen, and great-grandmother, Margaret Booke.
Regina Haas, 98
Regina Anna Mrachek Haas, 98, Lidgerwood, N.D., died Dec. 25, 2009, at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, N.D.
Mass of Christian burial and a celebration of life will be held in the spring at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lidgerwood.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Frank Family Funeral Home in Lidgerwood.
Memorials may be made to Dakota Estates, Lidgerwood.

Caroline Landert, 67
Caroline Landert, 67, Great Bend, N.D., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at her residence under the care of Riveredge Hospice.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. Anthony Ahrendt officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, N.D., at a later date.
Caroline was born April 15, 1942, in Worthington, Minn., to Carroll and Lillian (Redinius) Karn. She grew up and attended school in Kensal, N.D., and graduated from Kensal High School in 1960. She moved to Everett, Wash., where she raised her children. She also worked as a manager for various Winchell’s Doughnuts in the Everett area.
In 1995, Caroline moved back to Mapleton, N.D., where she worked as a cook in the Mapleton School District for 10 years. During that time she was also a loving caregiver for her father. In 2004, she made her home with her daughter, Billiette and her family near Great Bend.
Caroline is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend and a past active member of Westminster Presbyterian in Everett. She enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, going for drives in the countryside and traveling. She was always known as a giving and caring person.
Caroline is survived by: her children, Cindy Cochran, Alexandria, Minn., Dean Suko, Fargo, N.D., Janet (Bob) Grenz, Hankinson, N.D., Georgia Suko, Moorhead, Minn., Billiette (Bill) Peebles, Great Bend, Mark (Barb) Opsal, Farmington, Minn., Marcie Thompson, Eugene, Ore.; her 12 grandchildren; her many great-grandchildren; her brothers, Darrell (Linda) Karn, Buckeye, Ariz., Herman (Jeralyn) Karn, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her sister, Leanne (Joe) Stanley, Mapleton.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Carroll and Lillian Karn.

Margaret A. Pankow
Margaret A. Pankow, 85 of Fargo, ND formerly of Hankinson, ND passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Essentia Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Belford Lutheran Church, rural Hankinson, ND with burial at St. John’s Cemetery, rural Hankinson. Visitation will be Monday, September 1, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at St. John’s Belford Lutheran Church. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Margaret Amanda Pankow was born October 16, 1928 in Red Lake County, Red Lake Falls, MN, the daughter of Mike & Tina Mickelson. She grew up on a farm near Plummer, MN and graduated from Plummer High School in 1946. After graduation she went to teacher’s training in Red Lake Falls. She then taught at various rural schools and also taught at Oakley, MN, Mahnomen, MN, Sauk Rapids, MN & Moorhead, MN. In 1959 Margaret received her bachelor’s degree from MSUM by attending night & summer school.
On February 24, 1968 she was united in marriage to Rueben Pankow at St. John’s Belford Church. After their marriage they farmed in rural Hankinson, ND and she continued to teach in Moorhead. Rueben passed away November 14, 1985 and she moved into Hankinson in 1986. In 2012 she moved to Fargo.
Margaret was very active in her church, she served as president of LWML. She liked to help others, gardening vegetables & flowers & sharing God’s bounty with others. She liked to be kind to others and was supportive of various charities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Rueben; sisters: Mildred & Eleanor; brothers: Lawrence & Luverne.
Margaret is survived by her in-laws: Esther Pankow, Hankinson, ND, Arnold & Marge Pankow, Wahpeton, ND, Lorraine Pederson, Lake Park, MN & Carolynn Pankow, Castle Rock, CO and several cousins and many nieces, nephews & friends.
