Desmond E. Wadeson
Funeral services for Desmond E. Wadeson, 80, West Fargo, N.D., were held on Monday, March 31, 2003 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo. Mr. Wadeson died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Desmond E. (Dez.) Wadeson, son of William and Mary Wadeson, was born on March 17, 1923 at Alice, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Alice. He moved to Fargo and began his 53 years of employment with cook Sign Company.
On June 28, 1952, he married
Marie Schafer in Fargo. In 1958 they moved to West Fargo. He was a member of the Wildlife Club and the West Fargo Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Wadeson; two daughters, Deborah (David) Ludwig, Fargo and Laurie (Bruce) Haukedahl, Detroit lakes; six step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Jerome (Marion) Wadeson, Enderlin, Donald (Bernice) Wadeson, Fargo, and Richard (Jackie) Wadeson, Alice; sisters, Joyce Hetland and Beverly (Basil) Lovell, New Hope, Minn. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Spieker and son-in-law, James Brandser.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo

Vivian C. Swanson
Funeral services for Vivian C. Swanson, 81, Oakes, N.D., were held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Oakes. Father Mathew Pamplaniyil officiated. Mrs. Swanson died Tuesday, April 1, 2003.
Vivian C. Wilcox, daughter of John and Hazel (McDonald) Wilcox was born on August 30, 1921 in Lisbon. After graduating from Stirum High School, she earned a degree at the Interstate Business College in Fargo.
On October 22, 1941, she married
Harvey A. Swanson in Stirum. The couple farmed in the Stirum area until their retirement in 1974, when they began spending the winters in Yucaipa, Calif. In 1984, Vivian and Harvey moved to Oakes. Harvey passed away at Oakes Good Samaritan Center September 9, 1997. Vivian continued to live in the Good Samaritan until the time of her death. She was a farm wife, homemaker, mother, business manager, and overseer. She was an active member of the St. Vincent Parish in Stirum and the St. Charles Parish in Oakes.
She is survived by three sons, Lee (Sandy) Swanson, Gilbert, Ariz., Donald (Dianne) Swanson, Covina, Calif., and Greg Swanson (Kurt Roe), Placitas, N.M.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Anna Bonnett, Oakes. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Dean Swanson, Eric Swanson, Nick Vena, Roy Bonnett, Larry Urbach, and Wayne Jacobson. Honorary pallbearers were Dana Swanson, Christine Vena, Willis Nelson and Nelma Nelson.
Music was provided by organist Linda Roney.
Interment at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Oakes.

B. Dorothy Sutton
Funeral services for B. Dorothy Sutton, 91, Lisbon, N.D., are being held on Monday, April 14, 2003 at the United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Miss Sutton died Sunday, April 6, 2003 in Evanston, Wyo.
B. Dorothy Sutton, daughter of Harvey and Ellen (Oleson) Sutton was born on May 29, 1911 in Lisbon. She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Lisbon. Following graduation, she attended two years of college at Jamestown College before returning to Lisbon where she worked. She then went to work for the United States Government in Washington, D.C. with the Civil Service for Alcohol and Firearms Tax Division working in Washington, Nebraska, Chicago, Ill. and Minneapolis, Minn. Dorothy retired after 30 years of service in the early 1960s. She returned to Lisbon and spent time in Evanston, Wyo. to be near her family and then returned to Fargo. In 1997 she moved to Evanston. She is survived by her brother, Norwood “Sut” Sutton, Evanston, Wyo.; a niece, Pam Sutton, Salt Lake City, Utah; nephew, Keith Sutton, Evanston, Wyo.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Roy W. Rydquist
Funeral services for Roy W. Rydquist, 86, Spokane, Wash., were held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, Wash. Mr. Rydquist died Friday, March 28, 2003 at Spokane.
Roy W. Rydquist, son of Charles and Neva Rydquist was born on April 23, 1916 in Turton, S.D. and moved to a farm in Englevale at a young age. He graduated from Cleveland Consolidated High School in 1934 and moved the next year to Helena, Mont., where he worked at the Eddy Bakery Co.
In 1938, he married
Marcely Gregg at Great Falls, Mont. Prior to World War II, Mr. Rydquist moved to Seattle, where he worked at the Boeing Airplane plant After the war he moved to Creston, Mont, and lived in the Flathead Valley for more than 20 years. He ran his own dairy farm. In 1960 he moved to Missoula, where he worked at a variety of construction businesses and became a custom home builder. In 1981 he moved to Spokane, where he was the facilities manager for ISC Systems Corp. He retired in 1984 and continued to do finish carpentry and custom cabinet work for several years. She died in 1997.
He is survived by three sons, David (Karen) Rydquist, Rapid City, S.D., Dennis Rydquist, Seattle, Wash., and Gregg (Vicki) Rydquist, Great Falls, Mont.; one daughter, Jody Chambers, Spokane; one sister, Lorraine Wood, Lisbon, two brothers, Orville, Wahpeton and Bill, Woodside, N.Y. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his his wife, parents, one sister, Ruth and an infant brother.

Arvin A. Amundson
Funeral services for Arvin A. Amundson, 80, Maryhill Manor, Enderlin, were held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Enderlin. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mr. Amundson died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Arvin A. Amundson, son of Andrew and Hannah (Hanson) Amundson was born on March 1, 1923, in rural Enderlin. He attended rural Enderlin School.
On November 1, 1944, he married
Margaret L. Olerud, in Fort Ransom. They lived in Enderlin until 1949 when they moved to Seattle where Arvin owned Arvin A. Amundson Excavating. They returned to Enderlin in 1957, living on a farm until 1971 when they moved into Enderlin. He worked for Mayo Construction and Collins Construction both of Fargo. Arvin played in the band, Brooder House Four, for several years. He was a member of the Enderlin Senior Citizens. He was a member of Fillmore Lutheran Church, rural Enderlin. She died June 25, 2000.
He is survived by one daughter, Melinda Treitline, Thief River Falls, Minn.; two grandchildren and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ordell Hilde, Dale Munson, Glen Fuhrman, Ken Treitline, Zach Treitline, and Mark Sax.
Music was provided by organist Verna Armstrong and soloist Jack Armstrong.
Interment at the Enderlin cemetery.

Olive Margaret Wunder
Olive Margaret Lindvall Wunder died in a convalescent Hospital in Manteca, Ca. on March 27, 2003. It was her 89th birthday. She was born in Milnor, ND on March 27, 1914. She was the last of nine children born to Frank and Inga Lindvall.
Olive was preceded in death by her husband David Wunder and their three eldest sons, Donald, Darrel and James. She is survived by two sons, Larrie and Marlin Wunder and three daughters, Mary Levi, Laura Morales and Anna Malek. They all reside in Copperopolis, Ca. She also had in excess of eighty grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Wunder family lived in Lisbon, ND until 1957 when they moved to Hayward, Ca. They relocated in 1987 to Copperopolis, Ca., which is a small community in the scenic Sierra Nevada foothills. She was surrounded by her children and many grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on March 30, 2003 at The Lake Tulloch Bible Church in Copperopolis where she was a member.
Lester L. Loomis
Funeral services for Lester L. Loomis, 89, Lisbon, were held on Saturday, April 19, 2003 at United Method Church, Lisbon. Reverend Beth Conrad officiated. Mr. Loomis died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Lisbon Area Health Services Nursing Home.
Lester L. Loomis, son of Frank and Eva (Blimka) Loomis was born on April 9, 1914 in Date, S.D. He graduated from Lisbon High School. Lester was an original member of the 294th N.D. National Guard Army Band in 1946.
On November 18, 1936, he married
Olive Lohr, in Dickey, N.D. They farmed near Lisbon until 1961. They lived in Edgeley where he managed UBC until 1963. They moved to Valley City where he worked at UBC until 1965. They returned to Lisbon where he was the assistant manager of UBC until retiring in 1975. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Charles) Klemetson, Gwinner, and Donna (Gene) Gardner, Englevale; one son, Terry (Rita), Lisbon; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Brad Dick, Dan Carter, Rick Mairs, John Welton, Bob Nelson, and John Rotenberger.
Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloists Mary Madsen and Peggy Larson.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Bryce G. Walock
Funeral services for Bryce G. Walock, 77, Horace, were held on Monday, April 21, 2003 at Horace Lutheran Church, Horace. Reverend Tim Johnson officiated. Mr. Walock died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Bryce G. Walock, son of Bernard and Loretta (Davis) Walock was born on February 14, 1926 at Elliot, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Elliot. He worked near Elliot as a painter and did farm repair work with his father and brothers. Bryce then entered the U.S. Army in 1944 where he was stationed in France and Germany until his discharge in 1946. He returned to Elliot and began painting with his father until moving to Fargo in the early 1950s. He worked as a painter for businesses in the Fargo area. The majority of that time was with Henning’s Painting and Decorating. On June 17, 1956, he married
Marlyn Peterson, in Englevale. They moved to Horace in 1966. He worked with his son for the past ten years as a painter. Mrs. Walock died September 25, 2002.
He is survived by one son, Shane (Rhonda) Walock, Horace; one daughter, Sherri (Dwight) Horning, Fargo; four grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Betty) Walock, Fargo; two sisters, Doris Huether and Alice McDaniel, both Lisbon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlyn Walock, and four brothers, Lawrence, Tom, Wilbert, and William.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Gary Brewer, Delwood Mammenga, Roger Mammenga, Jim Brewer, Larry Brewer, Randy Huether, David Walock, and Bert Walock. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren: Chad and Ben Walock, Chris and Jenni Horning, nephews and nieces, Bob Walock and everyone in attendance.
Music was provided by organist Joanne Lee and soloist Pam Beckius.

Dr. James Vagneur
Funeral services for Dr. James Vagneur, 85, Jamestown, were held on Friday, April 18, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Reverend Tern Anderson officiated. Dr. Vagneur died Monday, April 14, 2003 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
James Vagneur, son of Louis and Mary (McMurdo) Vagneur was born on July 4, 1917 in Aspen, Colo. He attended veterinary school at Colorado State and graduated with his veterinary degree in 1941.
On Thanksgiving day 1943, he married
Marjorie Qual in Lisbon. He then pursued his Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Michigan from 1946-1948. They moved to Jamestown in 1952. Dr. Vagneur co-founded the Southwood Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Bieri in 1961 and practiced veterinary medicine until his retirement in 1997. He was honored as Veterinarian of the Year in 1980. Dr. Vagneur was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stockmen’s Association, AVMA, NDVMA, Livestock Sanitary Board, Sons of Norway, Dance Club, Jamestown Elks, Shriner’s, Lion’s Club and Retired Teachers, all of Jamestown. He served as President of the NDVMA and was a delegate to the AVMA National Convention. He also was a member of the Health occupations Committee at the Vocational Center.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie, Jamestown; two sons, David Vagneur, Minneapolis and Jim (Connie) Vagneur, Jamestown, and one daughter, Coralyn (Doug) Armstrong, Tacoma, Wash.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Allen.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
