Andrina M. Gylland
Memorial services for Andrina M. Gylland, 85, Morris, Minn., were held on Monday, April 14, 2003 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Breckenridge. Joen Blouin officiated. Mrs. Gylland died Friday, April 4, 2003 at St. Francis Villa, Morris, Minn.
Andrina Marie Jorgenson, daughter of George and Bessie (Berg) Jorgenson was born on April 10, 1917 at home in Viking township, Richland County, N.D.
On December 23, 1927 she married
Sanford Gylland in Fargo. They made their home on the farm near Colfax. They engaged in farming from 1927 to 1974, when the moved to Wahpeton, and later to Breckenridge. He passed away on April 22, 1998.She was a member of the breckenridge Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by two sons, David (Connie) Gylland, Branson, Mo., and Dwight (Maureen) Gylland, Breckenridge; two daughters, Susan (Ervin) Smith, Dickinson, and Shiela (Cliff) Vickerman, Morris, Minn.; two sisters, Phyllis Jorgenson, Lisbon and Lois Christenson, Richfield, Minn.; and one brother, Clair (Nancy) Jorgenson, Hebron, N.D.; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Alma L. Gross
Funeral services for Alma L. Gross, 94, Enderlin, were held on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Mike Toomey and Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mrs. Gross died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Alma L. Gross, daughter of Herman and Bertha (Trapp) Janz was born on September 22, 1908 in rural Enderlin. She attended rural Enderlin School, Fingal High School and two years at Valley City State University.
On October 14, 1934, she married
Clarence Gross, in Lucca, N.D. She taught in rural Enderlin for three years. They farmed near Enderlin until 1974. She moved into Enderlin in 1987. She entered Maryhill Manor in 1997. She was very active in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lucca as an organist, Sunday school teacher and in Ladies Aid. He died in 1987.
She is survived by one son, Denis (Ellen) Gross, Enderlin; three grandchildren; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Danny Gross, W. Allen Gross, Sidney Gross, Randy Buhr, Erling Janz, and Lyle Janz.
Music was provided by organist Gretchen Hoy. Special music - Claudia Janz, Carolyn Gringer, and Lynelle McGregory.
Interment at Salem Cemetery, rural Alice, N.D.

Larry R. Mairs
Funeral services for Larry R. Mairs, 61, Lisbon, were held on Saturday, April 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Norman Anderson and Reverend David Killeen officiated. Mr. Mairs died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Larry R. Mairs, son of E. Russell and Vivian (Robins) Mairs was born on January 28, 1942 in Lisbon. He attended rural Lisbon and Lisbon High School, graduating in 1960.
On June 30, 1963, he married
Helen Dietzler in Milnor. Larry farmed near Lisbon. He also bred and raised quarter horses for 25 years. He has served on the Ransom County Fair Board for 15 years. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren camping and horseback riding.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Mairs, Lisbon; two daughters, Kerry (Mike) Cooper, Lisbon and Kristy Mairs, Lisbon; two sons, Robbie (Holly) Mairs, Lisbon and Ritchie (Stacey), Stirum; five grandchildren, Brandi and Nick Cooper, Harley, Madison, and Macy Mairs; one brother, Dean (Judy), Lisbon and one sister, Vicky (John) Adolf, Bismarck.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ryan Mairs, Jeff Adolf, Mark Adolf, Jim Prante, Jerry Prante, Jay Prante, Gary Ordahl, Bruce Ordahl, Jamie Ordahl. Honorary pallbearers were Ransom County Fair Board Members and close friends.
Music was provided by organist Norma Kjos and soloist Brad Lambrecht.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Ernest Adolf
Funeral services for Ernest Adolf, 77, Fairmount, N.D., were held on Thursday, April 17 2003 at First English Lutheran Church, Fairmount. Reverend Ronald Carnicom officiated. Mr. Adolf died Sunday, April 12, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, Minn.
Ernest Adolf, son of Chris and Esther (Vierkandt) Adolf was born on March 24, 1926 at Lisbon. He attended school in Lisbon and later worked for Nelson Construction in Lisbon. Ernie enter the U.S. Army and served in Korea.
On November 7, 1954, he married
Beverly Schlader. They moved to Fairmount in 1957. He worked for Luick Construction until 1978 when he went to work for Fairmount School until 1998. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Fairmount, and the Milton E. Stevenson American Legion Post No. 106.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Adolf, Fairmount; three sons, Richard (Brenda) Adolf, Fairmount, and David Adolf, Fairmount, Paul Adolf, Hankinson; two daughters, Sandra (Fred) Frederickson, Carrington, and Janet (James) Burlison, Fairmount; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Carlblom, Jamestown, Christine (Frank) Himebaugh, Lisbon, and Esther Vogel, Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Elvin.
Interment at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount.

Mildred A. McLaen
Funeral services for Mildred A. McLaen, 77, Rutland, N.D., were held on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Nordland Lutheran Church, Rutland. Private family committals will take place at the Rutland Cemetery, Rutland and the Standing Rock Cemetery
of Fort Ransom, at a later date. Mrs. McLaen died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, Minn.
Mildred A. Hilde, daughter of Albin and Dagney (Gregor) Hilde was born on February 6, 1926 near Lisbon. She moved near Fort Ransom where she grew up and attended Preston Grade School, Fort Ransom, Enderlin and Lisbon High Schools. She sang in the Fort Ransom mixed chorus, a capella choir in Enderlin and played with the 4 Spots Dance Band for several years.
In 1945, she married
Clinton Hanson in Verona. She later moved to Rogers, N.D., operated a cafe there, then moved to Fort Ransom, operated a cafe and was also employed at the Dinty Moore Cafe in Lisbon. She married
Clayton McLaen, Rutland at Webster, S.D. on November 28, 1956 and has resided in Rutland ever since. She was an ambulance volunteer for 14 years, secretary for Rutland Consolidated School until it closed and grade school librarian, assistant high school librarian, office worker, hot lunch and bus route coordinator at Sargent Central High School in Forman. She also worked briefly as an announcer at KDDR radio station in Oakes. Millie sang at numerous weddings, funerals, church and community functions. Millie was an American Legion Auxiliary member since 1958, North Dakota Company “B”, Custer’s Memorial Calvary since 1967, and Fort Ransom State Park Sod Busters Association member since 1983. She also was the church organist at Rutland Baptist church, took part in Uffda Days and Community Club plays, and music for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton McLaen, Rutland; one daughter, Vicki (Linc) Jepson, George Mills, N.H.; four sons, Jay (Maureen Andrew) Hanson, Minneapolis, Minn., Jesse (Lisa Kudelka) Hanson, Hensler, N.D., Dale (Lisa Wicktor) McLaen, Rutland and St. Paul, Minn.; Dennis (Lori) McLaen, Rutland; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons;one sister, Dorothy Long, Greeley, Colo.; one brother, Roy (Joyce) Hilde, Fergus Falls, Minn.; and one sister-in-law Verna (Gilbertson) Hilde, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Constance Hilde Obritsch and one brother Albin Hilde, Jr.

Irene L. Sullivan
Irene L. Sullivan, 86, of Lisbon, N.D., died Saturday evening, April 19, 2003 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Irene Rice was born September 27, 1916 in Lisbon, N.D., the daughter of Willard and Josie Rice. She graduated from Lisbon High School and married
Vernon Sullivan on August 17, 1936 in Lisbon. They farmed near Lisbon until 1958, and moved into Lisbon, where they owned and operated Sullivan’s Bar. They also operated a resort for five years on Dead Lake, near Dent, Minn.
Irene was a lifetime member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Her faith and devotion were an inspiration to all of her family and many friends. Irene had many happy memories with her husband Vernon. Fishing at the lake and spending winters together in Arizona were her highlights. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irene will be remembered for her kind heart and loving arms. She had the gift of making everyone feel welcome and special. She accepted others just as they were. Her quick wit, spunk, and her adventurous spirit were often the center of family gatherings.
Irene is survived by two sons, Don (Darlene), Albert Lea, Minn., Jerry (Colleen), Bella Vista, Ark.; five daughters, Sharon (Lee) Wall, Crookston, Minn., Pearl (Larry) Dziuk, Underwood, N.D., Kaye (Alden) Kempel, Stirum, N.D., Jody (Jim) Hauge, Leith, N.D., Pat (Steve) Cole, Lisbon; two brothers, Willard Rice, Arizona, Tom (Kay) Rice, California; two sisters, Mildred (Tom) Ballinger, Arizona, and Darlene Berger, Northfield, Minn.; 28 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents, Willard and Josie Rice, infant brother, Curtis, sister, Pearl Kuchera, great-granddaughter, Josie Anderson, and twin great-grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel Wall, and granddaughter-in-law, Joleen Hauge.
Funeral services were be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon. Burial will be at the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon, N.D.
Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kenneth N. Kenyon
Funeral services for Kenneth N. Kenyon, 62, Fort Ransom, N.D., were held on Friday, April 25, 2003 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Englevale. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mr. Kenyon died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Kenneth N. Kenyon, son of Nichols and Emma (Dick) Kenyon was born on August 29, 1940 at Valley City. He attended rural Elliott school, Elliott High School and graduated from Lisbon High School. Kenny served in the National Guard.
In May of 1964, he married
Ellen Louden. On July 14, 1989 he married
Jane Stroh Lambrecht in Jamestown. Kenny worked for Berube’s in Lisbon. He worked for Bob-Cat in Gwinner for ten years. He owned and operated the Fort Ransom Locker for 14 years. He then farmed with his brother near Fort Ransom and Englevale. He had been Fire Chief in Fort Ransom, served on the Fort Ransom City Council, was a member of the Sportsman Club and served on Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Council.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, Fort Ransom, three daughters, Janelle (Ryan) Rufsvold, Jamestown, Teresa (Robert) Olson, Fort Ransom, Amanda Olson (Brett Meidinger), Billings, Mont. one step-son, Chad (Lynnette) Lambrecht, Englevale; two step-daughters, Genene (Mark) Aabrekke, Milnor, and Kris Lambrecht, Fargo; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Larry (Shirley) Englevale. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jill Rufsvold.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Philip McDaniel, Bob McDaniel, Brad Dick, Steve Sibley, Tim Dick, and Lawrence Dick, Jr..
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl, with special music by Joel Dick, Marsha Huether, and Brad Dick.

Keith A. Wiest
Funeral services for Keith A. Wiest, 36, West Fargo, were held on Monday, April 21, 2003 in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mr. Wiest died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 in a traffic accident near Wagon Mound, N.M.
Keith A. Wiest, son of Joe and Marilyn Wiest was born on November 9, 1966 in Maddock, N.D. Keith grew up in Edsmond and Jamestown, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1986. He started driving truck for Wiest Truck Line, Inc., Jamestown from 1987 to 1988 and again in 1990 to 1992. Keith later moved to Fargo and began working for Magnum Trucking of Fargo.
On September 9, 1994, he married
Lisa Doeling in Carrington. They moved to West Fargo in 1995. Keith started to drive truck for Integrity Windows of Fargo in 1996.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, West Fargo; one son, Harrison, at home; one daughter, Brooklyn, at home; his parents, Joe and Marilyn Wiest, Velva; grandmother, Lena Ganje, Velva; brother, Christopher Wiest, Velva; three sisters, Julie (Willis) Barr, Shonah Wiest and Jackie Metzen all of Lisbon; father and mother-in-law, Gene and Lori Doeling, Bordulac, N.D. brother and sister-in-laws, Gene (Denise) Doeling, Fargo, Debra Doeling, Jamestown and Christa (Bryan) Beach, Coon Rapids, Minn. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Jason, grandparents John and Kathrine Wiest, grandfather George Ganje and aunt Judy Wiest.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
