Agnes Behm
Funeral services for Agnes Behm, 90, Valley City, N.D., were held on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 in St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City. Reverend Gerard Braun officiated. Mrs. Behm died Sunday, April 20, 2003 at Mercy Hospital, Valley City.
Agnes Steidl, daughter of Anton and Rosella (Schlegel) Steidl was born on April 15, 1913 at Fingal, N.D. She grew up near Fingal and attended school there.
On November 23, 1932, she married Joseph Behm, in Fingal. The couple farmed near Fingal and later farmed near Verona. They retired and moved to Valley City in 1966. Mr. Behm died December 10, 1968. Agnes continued to make her home in Valley City.
She is survived by one son, Joseph (Jean) Behm, Valley City; two daughters, Dorothy (Robert) Werran, Clifford, N.D., and Joan (Norman) Jewett; one brother, Edward Steidl, Valley City; two sisters, Elizabeth Wurzer, Washougal, Wash. and Cecelia Connelly, Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother.
Interment at Old Holy Trinity Cemetery, near Fingal
Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Olive L. Loomis
Funeral services for Olive L. Loomis, 91, Lisbon, were held on Monday, April 21, 2003 at United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Reverend Beth Conrad officiated. Mrs. Loomis died Friday, April 18, 2003 at Lisbon Area Health Services Nursing Home, Lisbon.
Olive L. Lohr, daughter of Daniel and Alida (Breaw) Lohr was born on April 15, 1912 in Sheldon. She attended school in Sheldon and Buttzville, graduating from Enderlin High School.
On November 18, 1936, she married Lester Loomis, in Dickey, N.D. They farmed near Lisbon until 1962. Olive worked at the N.D. Veterans Home for several years. They lived in Edgeley before returning to Lisbon. He died April 16, 2003. Olive belonged to Homemakers Club, Birthday Club and was active in the United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served on the board when building the present church building. She also served as UMW president.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Charles) Klemetson, Gwinner and Donna (Gene) Gardner, Englevale; one son, Terry (Rita) Loomis, Lisbon; seven grandchildren; six grandchildren; one brother, Leslie (Georgia) Garfield, Kan.; and one sister, Ruby Bleese, Battle Ground, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Loomis, and siblings, Sam, Roy, Pearl, Corletta, Edna and Margaret.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Lee Frigen, Owen Trangsrud, Laurel Pribbenow, Duane Pribbenow, Donald Ekre, and Lonny Bleese.
Music was provided by organist Mary Jo Smith and special music by Pam and Lonny Bleese
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy V. Hayward
Memorial services for Dorothy V. Hayward, 86, Fargo, were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin. Mrs. Hayward died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Dorothy Schroeder, daughter of Otto and Emelia (Buckhaus) Schroeder was born on March 20, 1917. She was educated in Hankinson and Fargo schools.
She married Bill Hayward. He died in 1988. Dorothy worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fargo, Flint, Mich., and Daley City, Calif. After her retirement, she returned to Fargo and resided there until 1999, when she moved to Maryhill Manor in Enderlin.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Gladys M. Pithey
Funeral services for Gladys M. Pithey, 66, Valley City, were held on Monday, April 21, 2003 in St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City. Reverend Gerard Braun officiated. Mrs.Pithey died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at her home.
Gladys “Dolly” Marie Pritchard, daughter of James and Irene (Lemna) Pritchard was born on May 16, 1936 at Verona. She grew up and attended school at Verona. Dolly received her teaching certificate from Valley City State Teachers College and taught school in the Corrine Country School between Wimbledon and Courteny, N.D. for two years.
On October 10, 1956, she married Austin Pithey at Verona. Dolly and Austin were owner/operators of Verona Grain and Fuel until 1981, at which time they moved to Jamestown. They moved to Mandan, N.D. in 1983 and then moved to Valley City in 1991. Dolly was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City and a past member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Verona. Dolly also volunteered much time at The Nearly-Nu Store, Valley City.
She is survived by husband, Austin, Valley City; three sons, Michael Pithey, Verona, Thomas Pithey, Steamboat Springs, Colo. and Patrick (Lori) Pithey, Wahpeton; three daughters, Joan (Tim) Achtenberg, Fargo, Susan (Jeff) Kittell, Garrison, N.D., and Mary (Bob) Orn, Gwinner; ten grandchildren; one brother, Willis (Mary) Pritchard, Oakes; three sisters, Verna (Art) Holub, Verona, Lorrell Brovold and Doris (Oris) Hintzman both Valley City. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leo and Glenn Pritchard and one sister Evelyn Wiemann.
Interment at Our Lady of Sorrow Cemetery, Verona.
Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Messmer
Funeral services for Ruth Messmer, 86, Bordulac, N.D., were held on Friday, April 25, 2003 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington. Reverend Lawrence Haas officiated. Mrs. Messmer died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at her home.
Ruth Schuster, daughter of Anthony and Helen (Linde) Schuster was born on March 17, 1917 in Carrington. She grew up in the Melville area, attended school in Edmunds, and graduated from Carrington High School in 1934.
On January 1, 1947, she married Ervin A. Messmer at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Bordulac, N.D. Ruth was a bus driver for the Carrington School District and worked in the dietary section of the Carrington Hospital from 1974 until her retirement. Ervin Messmer died May 22, 1986. Ruth was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the Sing’n Swing’n Homemakers Club, and the Carrington Horticultural Club. She had been secretary and president of the local AARP Chapter.
She is survived by three sons, John (Regina) Messmer, Bordulac, Paul (Rachel) Messmer, Bordulac, and Tom (Doris) Messmer, Bordulac; two daughters, Mary Remmick, Enderlin and Kathleen (Warren) Bien, Bismarck; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ben (Coralee) Schuster, Carrington; one sister, Dorothy Peterson, Carrington; and one daughter-in-law, Linda (Charles) Sutter, Lincoln, Neb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Messmer, one son, Larry Messmer, her parents, and one son-in-law.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Lynn Schroeder, Dennis Hart, Gerald Liebig, Bill Bauer, Dan Beckley, and Tom Nihill. Honorary Bearers were Marvin Hoffman, Arnold Hoffman, Ron Haman, Bud Wolf, Buffa Ekren, Percy Beckley and all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Music was provided by organist Catherine Palmer and special music by Dr. Jay Bauer, song leader Jennifer Messmer, Linda Schuster and Laurie Morstad, vocalists.
Interment at Carrington Cemetery, Carrington.
Evans Funeral Home, P.C., Carrington, was in charge of arrangements.

Luverne K. Dyrdahl
Funeral services for Luverne K. Dyrdahl, 81, Cross Lake, Minn., were held on Thursday, May 1, 2003 in the Hazel Run Lutheran Church, Hazel Run, Minn. Reverend Bill Thompson officiated. Mr. Dyrdahl died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at his son’s home in West Fargo.
Luverne K. Dyrdahl, son of Halvor and Mollia Dyrdahl was born on November 14, 1921 at Hazel Run, Minn. He attended schools in Hazel Run and Clarkfield, Minn., where he graduated from high school in 1939. He began farming with his father at Hazel Run.
On January 6, 1947, he married Bonnie Long at Minneapolis. They farmed for 50 years together in Hazel Run, where Luverne was also a member of the Hazel Run Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dyrdahl, Cross Lake, Minn.; three daughters, Lynda (Danny) Johnson, Cross Lake, Minn., Lynnae (Dennis) Decker, Gwinner, Lynnette (Ronald) Dotseth, West Fargo; one son, Larry (Gerri) Dyrdahl, West Fargo; one sister, Ruby Halverson, Granite Falls, Minn.; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Halverson, Granite Falls, Minn. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth, parents, two brothers, Knute and Albie and two sisters, Arda and Edith.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Interment at Hazel Run Lutheran Cemetery.
West Funeral Homes, West Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Anthony P. Baumler
Memorial services for Anthony P. Baumler, 40, Payette, Idaho, were held on Thursday, May 1, 2003 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Casselton. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at First United Methodist Church, Payette, Idaho. Pastor John Tucker officiated. Mr. Baumler died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at a Boise, Idaho hospital.
Anthony Paul Baumler, son of Ray and Sandy (Olson) Baumler was born on November 20, 1962 in Moorhead, Minn. He attended school in Chaffee, N.D. graduating in 1981. Mr. Baumler also graduated Moorhead State University.
On May 30, 1986, he married Michele Stock. He began his career with Rogers Brothers in Fargo and Colorado. He then worked in sugar beet research for Hillshog Sugar Beet Company in Colorado and Oregon.
He is survived by his wife, Michele Baumler, Payette, Idaho; one son Brandon, Payette, Idaho; father, Ray and step-mother, Julie, Moorhead, his mother and father-in-law, Renee and Dennis Stock, Dalton, Minn.; one sister, Angie (Steve) Rausch, Burnsville, Minn. two brothers, Tom (Amy) Baumler, Forest Lake, Minn., Scott (Laurie) Baumler, Sheldon; two step-brothers, Scott Hanna, Everett, Wash., Jeff Hanna, Fargo; two step-sisters, Kristi (Jeff) Johnson, Fargo, and Kari Hanna, Gilbert, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandy and his grandparents, Lawrence and Anna Baumler.
Interment at St. Leo’s Cemetery, Casselton.
Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette, Idaho, and West Funeral Home, Casselton, were in charge of arrangements.

Martha M. Schlecht
Funeral services for Martha M. Schlecht, 84, Enderlin, were held on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at First United Methodist Church, Enderlin. Reverend Duane Ferrie officiated. Mrs. Schlecht died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Martha M. Schlecht, daughter of John and Matilda (Gumke) Schlecht was born on July 8, a.m. 1918 in rural Venanda, Mont. She attended school in rural Logan County, North Dakota.
On November 16, 1937, she married Matt Schlecht in rural Fredonia, North Dakota. They farmed near Fredonia until 1942 when they purchased a farm in the Enderlin area. She worked at various Enderlin Businesses until 1959 when they owned and operated Schlecht motor and Implement in Enderlin. She entered Maryhill Manor in 1998. He died on April 30, 1995.
She is survived by one son, Wilbur (Susan) Schlecht, Enderlin; one daughter, Jeanette (Larry) Jensen, Mesquite, Nev.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Bernhard (Shirley) Centralia, Wash., John (Priscilla) Centralia, Wash., Karl (Darlene) Pelican Rapids; four sisters, Ella (Lester) Skramstad, Enderlin, Olga (Arne) Skramstad, Enderlin, Clara (Lorne) Lund, Enderlin, Anna (Jerry) Anderson, Britton, S.D.; sisters-in-law Dawn Schlecht and Joan Schlecht, both Enderlin. She was preceded in death by her husband Matt Schlecht and one daughter, Marjorie.
Pallbearers for the funeral were her nephews.
Music was provided by organist Verna Armstrong and soloist Jack Armstrong.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.
