Harold W. Thompson
Funeral services for Harold W. Thompson, 39, Hunter, N.D., were held Thursday, June 26, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church, Hunter, with Reverend Donna Monteith officiating. Mr. Thompson died Sunday, June 22, 2003 in a motorcycle accident near Hillsboro, N.D.
Harold William Thompson, son of James and Eunice (Brockman) Thompson, was born July 9, 1963 in Fargo. He lived a short time in Lisbon where he first met Patty, his wife to be. He moved to California where he received his education in diesel mechanics. He returned to Lisbon and later moved to Hunter in 1989.
In 1993 he married
Patricia Botner in Fargo. They made their home in Hunter. He worked on the Wedberg Farm from 1989 to 1994. He did mechanic work in the Amenia and Hunter area until 2001 and worked on the Stibbe Farm until the present.
He was a member of the Hunter Volunteer Fire Department.
Harold is survived by his wife, Patty; two daughters, Chanae and Kaitlyn, both at home; father, James (Doris) Thompson, Wheatland, N.D.; mother, Eunice (LeRoy) Nelson, South Hill, Va.; siblings, Carol Pfeifer, Halstad, Minn., Charlotte (Steven) Hoff, Hillsboro, N.D., Richard Thompson, South Hill, Donald Thompson, South Hill, Jeffrey Thompson, Marshall, Minn., Kelly Thompson, Wheatland, Dorene Thompson, Wheatland; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marlys, and his grandparents.
Pallbearers were Bill Stibble, Gary Vollmer, Rocky Rice, John Morrison, Don Kramer, Bob Wedberg, Ken Ewertz and Cary Muscha. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance.
Special music was provided by soloist Christy Larson and organist Alice Morrison.
Interment at Hunter Cemetery.

Leroy Bump
Funeral services for Leroy Bump, 77, Jamestown, were held Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating. He died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at his home.
Leroy was born February 18, 1926, in Jamestown, the only child of George and Bernice (Perry) Bump, rural Jamestown. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1944. He farmed with his father until the late 50’s, after which he went into sales.
He met and married
Mary in 1963. In February 1994 he started delivering newspapers and in over 9 years he never missed a day of delivery of his ten routes. Leroy was awarded Carrier of the Year in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Weston (Sabine) Baker, Farmington, Miss., Perry Bump, Jamestown and Steven Bump, Vacaville, Calif.; one daughter, Dawn (Daniel) Jasmann, Lisbon; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Allen Baker, and a grandson, Michael Jasmann.

William Ross
Funeral services for William Ross, 59, Gwinner, were held on Friday, June 27 at the United Methodist Church in Oakes. Pastor Jerome Swanson officiated. Mr. Ross died on Monday, June 23, 2003 at the Oakes Community Hospital in Oakes.
William Ross, son of James and Mildred (Werner) Ross was born on Monday, April 7, 1944 in Leonard, ND. He moved with his family to Cogswell where he attended school. He later graduated from Gwinner High School in Gwinner.
After his schooling, He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, as a fixed wing mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1965, and returned to North Dakota. In 1966 he began working for the Melroe Company (IR Bobcat) in Gwinner, where he continued to work until the time of his death.
He is survived by two sisters, Kathryn (Ole) Johnson, Oakes; and Diane (Maynard) Asleson, Mapleton, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James.
Pallbearers for the funeral were all of his nieces and nephews: Mike Johnson, Lila Huebner, Sue Walsvik, Ken Asleson, Rich Asleson, Mary Goldader, and Peggy Sorge. Carol Wolff was the organist, Barb Burley, the pianist, and Harvey Wolff and Randa Gemar, duet.
Military rites were presented by Bean-Goodwin American Legion Post #36.
Burial will be at the Leonard City Cemetery, near Leonard.

Joanne R. Faller
Funeral services for Joanne R. Faller, 68, Lisbon, N.D. were held on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon, N.D. Reverend Norman Anderson officiated. Mrs. Faller died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Parkside Nursing Home in Lisbon under Hospice care after fighting Alzheimer's for 15 years.
Joanne R. Himebaugh, daughter of Edward L. and Soffi (Malberg) Himebaugh was born on March 4, 1935 in rural Lisbon, N.D. She attended rural Lisbon School.
On May 1, 1954, she married
John Faller in Lisbon, N.D. They farmed near Lisbon. In 1977 they moved into Lisbon. Joanne was a member of Deborah Circle of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, John Faller; four daughters, Rita (Terry) Loomis of Lisbon, Lori (Arden) Shulstad of Vergas, Minn., Tracy (Alvin) Wyckoff of Bowman, N.D. and Susanne (David) Olson of Lisbon; one son, Robin Faller of Lisbon; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Christine) of Lisbon, Edward of Lisbon; two sisters, Mary Schultz of Lisbon, Merriam Hanson of Gwinner, N.D.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Himebaugh of Panama City, Fl. and Ella Himebaugh of Adams, Minn. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hank and Coy, and a sister, Lula Toyne.
Pallbearers for the funeral were her godchildren and nephews, Keith Faller, Mark Faller, Randy Faller, Marsha Kemp, Randy Hanson, Dale Hanson, and Jim Toyne.
Music was provided by organist Janet Hansen and vocalists Pam and Lonny Bleese.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Arlene B. Ridgely
Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at a later date for Arlene B. Ridgely, 83, Billings, Mont. Mrs. Ridgely died Monday, July 7, 2003 at St. Vincent Hospital, Billings, Mont.
Arlene Benson, daughter of Karl Edwin and Anine Marie (Peterson) Benson was born on January 15, 1920 at Verona. She was raised on the family farm in North Dakota with her three sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Verona High School and attended the Wahpeton School of Science.
In 1940, she married
John McBee. They lived in Great Falls, Mont. She married
Leland Ridgely in 1963. After retirement, they moved to Teague, Texas. After Buck died, she moved to Billings and resided at West Park Village.
She is survived by one daughter, Susie (Mike) Sprague, Billings, Mont.; one son, Jack McBee, Denver, Colo.; one brother, Judge Paul Benson, North Oakes, Minn.; two sisters, Evelyn (AW) Schmidt, Brenham, Texas and Betty (Robert) Ault, Jamestown; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Darold Benson and one sister, Marjorie Holdridge.

Inez O. Stavedahl
Funeral services for Inez O. Stavedahl, 84, Mayville, N.D., were held on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Luther Memorial Home chapel, Mayville, N.D. Mrs. Stavedahl died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville.
Inez Oline Knudson, daughter of Ingval and Augusta (Evenson) Knudson was born on June 28, 1919 at rural Portland, N.D. She grew up in the Clifford area and attended school.
On September 12, 1937, she married
Arthur Stavedahl at Portland. They farmed near Portland until retirement. Arthur died May 6, 1966. Inez moved into Portland and later lived in Luther Memorial Home.
She is survived by three sons, Ole (Lynne), The Villages, Fla., Allen (Shirley) West Fargo, John, Chesterland, Ohio; two daughters, Ruth (Selmer Jr.) Huus, Kathryn, N.D., Debbie (Bob) Meuwissen, Grand Forks; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, parents, son, Gunder, brothers, Elvin, Thomas, Henry, Oscar, sisters, Doris Domier, Hilma Domier, Clara Kvernen.
Interment at Perry Cemetery, rural Portland.

Jorgen Haugen
Funeral services for Jorgen Haugen, 87, McLeod, N.D., were held on Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Leonard. Reverend Wayne Quibell officiated. Mr. Haugen died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at his home.
Jorgen Haugen, son of John and Anna Haugen was born on September 27, 1915 in Oslo, Norway. Later they moved to Otta, Norway where they lived for several years. In March 1921, Jorgen came along with his parents and sisters to America. From New York they came by train to Leonard and lived with Jorgen's grandparents, the John F. Solhjems, on the farm in Sheyenne Township. They lived there and farmed until 1937. Jorgen attended Sheyenne Central School.
On September 30, 1939, he married
Agnes Knudson of Larimore, N.D., daughter of Ole and Emma Knudson. They built a home in Sheyenne Township in the fall of 1939. She died on January 10, 2002.
Jorgen served his community as director of Sheyenne Central School, director and assessor of Sheyenne Township, director of Sheyenne Valley Grazing Association, member of Richland County Water Resource board and held various offices on Zion Church Council. He was commissioned a commodore in the North Dakota Mythical Navy by Governor Schaefer in 1993 for his 18 years of service on the Richland County Water Resource Board.
He is survived by son, James (Delores) Haugen, McLeod; three daughters, Esther (Lloyd) Tofte, Fargo, Marilynn (Wynn) Nusviken, Larimore, Lucille Wade, Fargo; eight grandchildren; sister Ragna (Herbert) Woodbury, Wahpeton; sister-in-law, Arlene Haugen, Lisbon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, his parents, brother Alfred Haugen, sister Ida Hegseth and her husband, Rangvald.
Interment at Zion Cemetery, rural Leonard, N.D.

Kenneth A. Stronstad
Kenneth A. Stronstad, 74, West Fargo, N.D., died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Villa Maria, Fargo. At Ken’s request, he will be cremated with no services.
Kenneth A. Stronstad, was born on January 9, 1929 at Fort Ransom. He moved with his family to Minnesota and then to Moorhead, Minn.
On April 30, 1955, he married
Donna M. Hanson at Moorhead. He served in the U.S. Air Force in 1958. He returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area following his discharge and moved to Indiana in 1960. He returned to Fargo where he worked as a carpenter and later for Versatile Tractor, until they closed their plant there. He then worked as a janitor for Red River Human Services until retiring at age 60.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; two sisters, Ardoth (Mel) Kragnes, Marcola, Ore. and Sylvia (Derrold) Barker, Springfield, Ore; one brother, Allen (Sonja) Stronstad, Effingham, Ill; three nieces and six nephews; and two grandchildren.
