Esther Bohn, 95
Esther Bohn, 95, Hankinson, N.D., died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge, Minn.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, N.D.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery, Great Bend.
Esther Grager was born May 7, 1914, in Bordulac, N.D., daughter of William and Minnie Koppelman Grager. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, on April 1, 1928, by Pastor Hinck. Esther graduated from high school in Bordulac in 1932. On Sept. 26, 1935, she was united in marriage to Malvin Bohn at Kensal, N.D. After their marriage they farmed near Great Bend until they moved into Hankinson in November 1973. Esther was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church and LWML. Teaching Sunday school was a very special time for her. She was past president of Hankinson Senior Citizens. Esther loved spending time with her family and all of her friends. She loved crocheting, reading and listening to each and every Minnesota Twins game and now after her vision failed, the Minnesota Twins and talking books for the blind were a vital part of her everyday life.
Esther had an ability to find the good in everyone. The strength, spirit and undaunted faith she possessed will continue to be a lasting inspiration to each one of us.
Survivors include: son, Charles (Doreen) Bohn of Great Bend; daughters, Phyllis (Lloyd) Bohn, Breckenridge, Rita Lenz, Phoenix, Ariz., Karen Nass, St. Louis, Mo., Cheryl (Glenn) Hubrig, Hankinson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, William (Kay) Grager; sisters, Evelyn Cota, Myrtle Klebe, Inez Buboltz; sister-in-law, Dorothy Grager and brother-in-law, Richard Garber.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Malvin; brothers, Eric Groskreutz, Willard Grager and Alfred Grager; sisters, Grace Garber and Florence Grager; grandson, Craig Bohn; sons-in-law, Edward Nass and Gerald Lenz.

Florence I. Briese, 79
Florence I. Briese, 79, Wahpeton, N.D., formerly Forman, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Palliative Care Unit, MeritCare South Campus, Fargo, N.D.
The funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Forman.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 with a 7 p.m. prayer vigil at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Forman.
Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.
Florence was born March 22, 1930, at Frazee, Minn., the daughter of Art and Mary (Manning) Baker. She grew up in Frazee, attending schools and graduating from Frazee High School. She worked in western North Dakota and on May 6, 1950, she married
Kenneth F. Briese. They lived in Fargo, Jamestown and Bismarck, N.D., before moving to Forman in 1959. In 2006 Florence moved to Wahpeton to be closer to her family.
Florence was active in the Forman community and her church, being involved in homemakers, 4-H, Scout leader, Ladies Circle, quilting, sewing and the Sargent County Senior Meals.
Florence is survived by: her seven children, Rosemary Leonard, Brainerd, Minn., Vance (Bonnie) Briese Gresham, Ore., Rachelle (Dan) Acetuna, Fargo, Reeann (Glen) Enderson, Wahpeton; Jerry (Julie) Briese, Rice, Minn., Roberta Giese, Oxford, Iowa, Reinettie (Robert) Briese, Toledo, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Heidi, Heather, Jerry, Amanda, Ashley, Jacob, Zech, Bret, Brock, Brita, Trenton, Trista, Staci, Steven and Scott; four great-grandchildren, and her brother Gordon Baker, Frazee.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her daughter Rebeca; and an infant son Michael.
Kelly Ruddy, 42
Kelly Ruddy, 42, Kindred, N.D., formerly of Jamestown, N.D., died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Garden, Jamestown.
Kelly Gene Ruddy was born Aug. 23, 1967, in Jamestown, the son of Willis and Arlene (Cox) Ost. He was raised and attended school in Jamestown. After his schooling, he worked at Serb’s and Wagon Wheel restaurants, both in Jamestown, and other area restaurants. In 1990, he moved to Bismarck, N.D., where he worked at the Golden Dragon Restaurant, the Hong Kong Restaurant, the Oasis Truck Stop and the Bismarck Refinery. From 1994 to 1995, he lived in Billings, Mont., where he worked on an oil pipeline and at the Sheraton Hotel. He moved to Wahpeton, N.D., in 1996 and worked for Santa Lucia Restaurant in Breckenridge, Minn. While living in Wahpeton, he met his future wife, Carolyn Lyman. He moved to Fargo in 1997 and worked at the Doublewood Inn until they moved to Kindred in 2003 where they owned and operated Kelly’s Corner Kafé from 2003-2007. He later worked at the Radison Hotel in Fargo. On Oct. 27, 2009, he married
Carolyn Lyman at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Kelly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hockey, the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his wife and children.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn; five children, Keegan, Aidan and Brenna Ruddy, Kindred, Jace Brown, Jamestown, and Saraya Watkins, Mandan, N.D.; a brother, Tim Ost, Jamestown; and an aunt, Judy Trangsrud, Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mylie Jo Rinnels, infant
Mylie Jo Rinnels, infant daughter of Travis and Lisa (Nygaard) Rinnels, was born and died on Nov. 17, 2009, at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, N.D., officiated by the Rev. Dale Lagodinski.
She is survived by: her parents, Travis and Lisa Rinnels, her brother, Brayden and twin sister, Kylie Jo, of Wahpeton; her maternal grandparents, Dale and Julie Nygaard of Napoleon, N.D.; her paternal grandparents, Norman Rinnels and Eileen Rinnels both of Wahpeton; her maternal great-grandmothers, Phyllus Nygaard and Vivian Herald, and paternal great-grandparents, Paul and Marlene Brandenburger, Rosholt, S.D.

Bruce P. Krause, 51
Bruce P. Krause, 51, rural Fairmount, N.D., died Nov. 22, 2009, at his home.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at First English Lutheran Church, Fairmount. The Rev. Anthony Ahrendt will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, Minn. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church in Fairmount.
Burial will be at the Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount.
Pallbearers will be Zach Willemssen, Tanner Oliphant, Jordan Burlison, Sam Johnson, Dustin Krause, Casey Green and Derek Willemssen.
Honorary pallbearers are all of Bruce’s nieces, Godchildren and all who called him friend.
Bruce was born Sept. 27, 1958, to Milton and LaVonne (Bladow) Krause in Breckenridge. He grew up and attended school in Fairmount graduating in 1976. Following high school graduation he attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., for electronics, and then worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a rail inspector. He was transferred in 1982 to Missouri for one year. In 1983, Bruce, along with his brothers, Doug and Roger, started Krause Brothers Construction of Fairmount and Wahpeton, a business he has since owned and operated.
Bruce was united in marriage to Karleen Willemssen on Jan. 11, 1986, at First English Lutheran Church in Fairmount. They have always made Fairmount their home.
Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling the 48 states, Canada and the Bahamas with his family, scuba diving, spending time with his motorcycle buddies, time out at the lake and time spent with his special friend, his dog, “Jed.” He always enjoyed music, especially playing his guitar.
Bruce was a member of the Fairmount Fire Department and First Responders for 23 years and an Elder and member of First English Lutheran Church. Bruce was a loving father who made it a point to spend time with his girls.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the “Embrace” Survivorship program through the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, N.D., or the Roger Maris Cancer Center.
He is survived by: his wife, Karleen Krause, Fairmount; his three daughters, Meghan (Carl) Tegtmeier, Fargo, Chelsea Krause, Fargo, and Jade Krause, Fairmount; his sister, Diane (Charlie) Johnson, of Vining, Minn., and their children, Ericka, Sam and Hilary; his brother, Roger (Kim) Krause of Wahpeton, and their children, Austin and Alex; his father, Milton Krause, Fairmount; his niece, Shawna (Casey) Green, Fairmount; his nephew, Dustin (Kris) Krause, Wahpeton; his mother-in-law, Donna Willemssen, Breckenridge; his brothers-in-law, Rodney Willemssen, Wahpeton; Les (Patsy) Willemssen, Wahpeton, and their son, Adam (Monica) Willemssen; Tom (Kim) Willemssen, Breckenridge, and their children, Alysha (Tanner) Oliphant and Zach Willemssen; and many great nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by: his mother, LaVonne Krause; his brother, Douglas Krause; his sister-in-law, Bernice Krause; his Godparents, Theodore and Helen Bladow and Arthur and Mata Krause; his father-in-law, Thaine “Doc” Willemssen; his brothers-in-law, Donald Willemssen and Gary Willemssen.
