Wyona D. Schwab
Funeral services for Wyona D. Schwab, 68, Englevale, were held on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Englevale. Reverend David Isaacson officiated. Mrs. Schwab died Friday, October 10, 2003 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Wyona D. Schwab, daughter of Trygve and Agnes (Siedschlag) Sivertson was born on August 20, 1935 in Valley City. She attended school in LaMoure.
On November 15, 1951, she married
Lester Schwab in Lisbon. They lived in Englevale. Wyona sold fireworks in LaMoure for 40 years. She had worked for Streich Potato Farm near Englevale. She worked at Greg’s Budget Bar in Elliott for several years. She was a lifetime member of Good Shepherd ELCW.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Schwab, Englevale; two sons, Gary (Margaret) Schwab, Valley City and Greg (Shelly) Schwab, West Fargo; one daughter, LaRae (Richard) Wimer, Stirum; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Lenice White, North Bend, Ore.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Phil Krentz, Ed Hanson, Richard Olson, Jerry Olson, Bob Schwab, and Bill Schwab.
Music was provided by organist Marlene Dahl and special music by Doris Stroh and Kathy Walton.
Interment at Dick Cemetery, Engelvale.

Gertrude A. Nohr
Funeral services for Gertrude Augusta Martha Nohr, 96, Lisbon, were held on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Anselm Lutheran Church, rural Lisbon. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Miss Nohr died October 17, 2003 at Lisbon Area Health Services.
Gertrude Augusta Martha Nohr, daughter of Frank and Wilhelma (Altman) Nohr was born on September 4, 1907 in Grand Shanno, Wis. Gertie attended school in Wisconsin.
Gertie moved to Lisbon in 1949. She worked for Bratland Chick Store and Doering’s Hatchery. She entered the nursing home in March of 1998. She was a member of the Tuesday morning Bible Study and Birthday Club.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Olive Buss, Lisbon; three nieces, Noreen (Henry) Halvorson, Fargo, Gail (Trent) Kinney, Fargo and Dixie (Mark) Lee, Jamestown; cousin, Betty (Warren) Wiltse, Lisbon; four great-nieces, one great-nephew, two great-great-nieces, and one great-great-nephew.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Mark Bartle, Kerry Froemke, Kim Froemke, Argil Froemke, Charles Bjugstad, and Ron Friese.
Music was provided by organist Holly Froemke and soloist Pat Olson.
Interment at Anselm Lutheran Church, rural Lisbon.

Richard C. Wiederholt
Richard C. Wiederholt, 58, Dickinson, N.D. died at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson, after having battled a rare form of cancer for a little over a year. Richard’s funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Father Dennis Skonseng as the celebrant, and Father David Morman as the co-celebrant. Interment
will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Lisbon, N.D. at 2:00 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, October 22, 2003 with Father Andrew Dudzinski presiding.
Rich was born November 15, 1944, in Lisbon, N.D. the oldest of nine children to Clement and Helen (Kingren) Wiederholt. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1963. Rich had joined the Army National Guard in 1961. He started driving truck hauling Bobcats for Melroe around the country in 1967 and 1968. From 1968 to 1978 he was a dispatcher for Melroe.
Rich married
Sharon Arntson on June 28, 1969, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon. He and Sharon had four children during these years in Lisbon and Gwinner, Brent, Brenda, Bradley and Beth. In 1978 after already having been active in the Lisbon Council of KC’s, and a charter member, he took a job with K of C Insurance and moved his family to Dickinson. He was a successful Field Agent and became a General Agent in 1987. He held this position until 2003 after 25 years of service. Rich was active with the Knights, holding various state and local offices in 3rd and 4th Degree.
Rich is survived by his wife, Sharon; their four children, Brent (Jennifer), Mobridge, S.D., Brenda (Ben) Kirkeby, Fargo, Bradley (fiance, Christa Keogh), Plymouth, Minn. and Beth (John) Warford, Bismarck. Rich has three beloved grandchildren, Daysia, Ashton and Jaxon. He is also survived by three brothers, Mike (Linda), Casper, Wyo., Kenny (Lori), Gwinner, and Joe, Alexandria, La., two sisters, Margaret Siegler, Jamestown, and Mary Jane Ike, Ray City, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Gail Wiederholt, Lisbon, and one brother-in-law, Chad Daugherty, Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Vince, two sisters, Pat and Kay Daugherty, a very special aunt and uncle, Henrich and Bernice Skonseng, and his very special grandson, Jaxon.
Rich loved above all, his wife Sharon, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. He was always a devoted family man. He was proud of his children and grandchildren, and they always came first. Rich loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and riding his Harley. Rich will be sorely missed by his family.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers members to the Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo.

James L. Messmer
Funeral services for James L. Messmer, 53, Hibbing, Minn., were held on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon. Father Andrew Dudzinski officiated. Mr. Messmer died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at Fairview Medical Center, Hibbing, Minn.
James L. Messmer, son of Robert and Norma (Kollman) Messmer was born on July 8, 1950 in Carrington, N.D. He attended school in Kensal, N.D. He served in the National Guard.
On May 28, 1971, he married
Janel Nogosek, in Kensal, N.D. They lived in Cooperstown, N.D. where Jim worked for Melroe Manufacturing. They moved to Embden, N.D. where Jim managed the Farmers Union. Jim then worked for Melroe Manufacturing, Gwinner for a number of years. During that time, the family lived in Gwinner, until moving to Lisbon in 1977. They left Lisbon in 1994 and moved to New Rockford where Jim worked for Dakota Tribal Industries. At the time of his death, Jim was employed at Temco (later Dom-ex) at Hibbing, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Janel Messmer, Hibbing, Minn.; three daughters, Holly (Scott) McDaniel, Englevale, N.D., Danielle Messmer, Fargo, and Quincey Messmer, Hibbing; three sons, Justin Messmer, San Diego, Calif., Zacharie (Heather) Messmer, Fargo and Gabriel Messmer, San Diego, Calif.; his parents, Robert and Norma Messmer, Kensal, N.D.; five grandchildren, Alex Messmer, Soren McDaniel, Hadley McDaniel, Hayden McDaniel, Lilly Messmer; eight brothers, Bob (Dororthy) Messmer, Hoquiam, Wash., Glen (Kathy) Messmer, Wheaton, Ill., Joseph (Marcie) Messmer, Nampa, Ind., Dean (Barb) Messmer, Bismarck, Daniel Messmer, West Fargo, Brian (Becky) Messmer, Jackpot, Nev., Darren (Kelly) Messmer, Bismarck, Kelly (Cheristy) Messmer, Bakersfield, Calif.; five sisters, Joan (Tony) Rhodes, Arlington, Texas, Debbi (Mike) Alexander, Winnemucca, Nev., Ginger (Mike) Goodman, Cary, N.C. Connie (Jason) Gagelin, Grand Forks, and Theresa (Jody) Walker, Grand Forks.

Ida D. Rotenberger
Funeral services for Ida D. Rotenberger, 89, Lisbon, were held on Thursday, October 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend Norm Anderson and Reverend David Killeen officiated. Mrs. Rotenberger died Monday, October 20, 2003 at Lisbon Area Health Services.
Ida D. Klein, daughter of Henry and Molly (Dorn) Klein was born on September 24, 1914 in rural Englevale, N.D. She attended Dick School in rural Englevale.
On May 10, 1936, she married
Alex Rotenberger in Lisbon. They farmed near Lisbon. They moved into Lisbon in 1960. Ida worked at the Coffee Cup Cafe, Jet Cafe, Kelsen’s Bakery and the Lisbon Hospital. She was a member of Neighborly Homemakers.
She is survived by her husband, Alex Rotenberger, Lisbon; three sons, Charles (Gwen) Rotenberger, Lisbon, Ronald (Ruth) Rotenberger, Milnor, and Bill (Pat) Rotenberger, Ludlow, S.D.; two daughters, Janice (Terry) Urbach, Lisbon and Mary (Ed) Stroh, Stirum; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert, Modesto, Calif.; two sisters, Esther Mammenga, New Ulm, Minn., and Betty (Hugo) Schmidt, Fargo. She was preceded in death by an infant son, one brother and a half-sister.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Doug Rotenberger, Gary Rotenberger, David Rotenberger, Jeff Rotenberger, Chad Rotenberger, Michael Urbach, Todd Urbach, Andy Stroh, Dylan Kruger and Steve Rotenberger.

Wesley D. Grothe
Funeral services for Wesley D. Grothe, 65, Forman, were held on Tuesday, October 21 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Forman. Reverend Father Franklin Miller officiated. Mr. Grothe died Thursday, October 16, 2003.
Wesley D. Grothe, son of Newton and Cecilla (Hoffert) Grothe was born on September 3, 1938 at Milbank, S.D. He grew up in Milbank and moved with his family to Forman in 1945. He graduated from Forman High School in 1956. After completing his education, Wes served his country in the U.S. Army. He saw active duty from 1956 to 1959 part of that time being served in Germany.
On July 15, 1961, he married
Judy Ann Holen at Forman. They made Forman their home since that time. He worked with his father at the Forman Implement until he and his brother Joel bought the business in 1971. They operated it until 1991. At that time, West took a job with a road construction company and traveled with them until 1996. He worked for the Case-IH dealerships in Lidgerwood and Lisbon from 1997 to 1999. Judy died October 19, 1999 and Wes continued to make his home in Forman in his retirement. Wes had been a member of the Forman Lions Club for many years, Sargent Post #82 of the American Legion, the Forman Volunteer Fire Department and the Forman Commercial Club. He also belonged to the Elks Club in Jamestown.
He is survived by two daughters, Jackie (Joe) Flaherty, Minneapolis, and Sherry (Dell) Coultar, Minneapolis, four grandchildren; one sister, DeEtta (Bob) Wells, Forman; two brothers, Brent (Connie) Grothe, Omaha, Neb. and Joel (Sandy) Grothe, Forman. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one sister, Colletta Lucken.
Military Honors presented by Sargent Post #82 of the America Legion from Forman.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jim Busche, Bill Smith, Allen Sundlie, Del Avery, Quentin Hoistad, Darwin Fliehs, Arlen Hanson and Darren Hoistad.
Music was provided by organist Cheryl Zirnhelt and soloist Bill Meyer.
Interment at Forman Cemetery, Forman.

Bernice A. Jenson
Funeral services for Bernice A. Jenson, 95, Ralph, S.D., were held on Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Ralph Lutheran Church, Ralph, S.D. Reverend Rob Nedbalek officiated. Mrs. Jenson died Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Southwest Longterm Healthcare Center, Bowman, N.D.
Bernice Anna Anderson, daughter of Ellef and Barbara (Stone) Anderson was born on July 13, 1908, in Wyndmere. She moved with her family at age two years to the Ralph area where she was reared and received her education. She worked at the Ralph Store as a clerk.
On March 28, 1932, she married
Hans Jenson at Buffalo, S.D. They farmed and ranched all their life in the Ralph area. Bernice also worked at the Ralph Post Office for twenty plus years, retiring from the Post Office at the age of eighty-seven years. She was an active member of the Ralph Lutheran Church. She worked at the Green Lantern Cafe.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Bill) Henderson, Lisbon; two sons, Gerald (Agnes) Jenson, Rapid City, S.D., and Eugene (Louise) Jenson, Ralph; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna James, Sterling, Colo.; one brother, Bernard Anderson, Grandbury, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hans Jenson and three sisters, Ella, Cora and Borghild.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ron Jenson, Jace Jenson, Cody Jenson, Jarett Jenson, Christopher Henderson, Bill Jenson, and Jedd Parfrey. Honorary pallbearers were her friends and neighbors.
Music was provided by organist Nola Horvey and soloist Tom Johnson.
