Naomi Marie Kast, infant
Naomi Marie Kast, infant daughter of Jason and Rhonda (Jorgenson) Kast of Fairmount, N.D., was born and died on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, Minn.
A graveside service has been held at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, N.D.
Arrangements were handled by Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Jerome “Jerry” G. Jones, 42
“Jerry” G. Jones, 42, Wahpeton, N.D., died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the Harvest Outreach Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Sam McKay officiating.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
Arrangements are pending with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Jerome G. “Jerry” Jones was born Sept. 8, 1967, at Fergus Falls, Minn., the son of Bill and Sylvia Jones. Jerry lived for a short time in North Dakota before moving to Modesto, Calif., with his family where he lived for the next 10 years. In 1979 the family moved to the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area. Jerry was diagnosed with acute non-lymphatic Leukemia at the age of 15 on Jan. 5, 1982. With strength and courage he fought the complications of the disease for his last 27 years until Dec. 10 when Jerry died from congestive heart failure.
Jerry’s faith was very important to him and he was constantly living and teaching the importance of Christ in one’s life. He enjoyed drawing and music; he was currently attempting to play the guitar. He could be lighthearted and goofy, many times attempting to bring laughter to his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by: his father and mother, Bill and Sylvia Jones, Wahpeton; seven brothers and sisters, Debbie Meadows, Fargo, N.D., Brenna (Rob) Williams, Omaha, Neb., Bill Jr. (Dawn) Jones, Howard Lake, Minn., Brian (Brenda) Jones, Big Lake, Minn., Angie (Corey) Williams, Lisbon, N.D., Dwayne (Tracey) Jones, Annandale, Minn., and Carol Jones, Wahpeton; and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, and his sister Tamera Jones.
Rodney “Nick” W. Kubela, 74, Wahpeton, N.D.
Rodney “Nick” W. Kubela, 74, Wahpeton, N.D., died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at his residence in Wahpeton.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27 with a 5 p.m. prayer vigil at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Military Honors will be performed by Wilkin County Honor Guard and members of the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.
Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D., in the spring.
Rodney W. Kubela, also known as Nick, was born Aug. 3, 1935, at Wahpeton, the son of Joseph and Angeline (Gebhart) Kubela. He grew up in Wahpeton where he attended school. He entered the U.S. Marines January of 1954 and served until January of 1957. After the service he returned to the Wahpeton area where he worked for B & W Fleet Hardware. He married
Beverly Murdoff on May 31, 1965, in Breckenridge, Minn. Nick owned and operated “Kubela Sports” in Wahpeton before he worked in sales in the automotive industry; he currently was working for Dakota Chrysler in Wahpeton.
Nick was an active member of VFW Post No. 2766, Cooties and Alfred Lockman American Legion Post No. 53 of Breckenridge. He was an avid Chicago Bears football fan and enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting. His special interest in his life was his family and grandchildren.
Nick is survived by: his mother, Angeline, Breckenridge; his four children, Blair (Tammy) Kubela, Fergus Falls, Minn., Kim (Jerry Dean) Jirak, Breckenridge, Jason Kubela, Waite Park, Minn., Emily (Jay Miller) Kubela, Wahpeton; his six grandchildren, Chelsey, Tyler and Rylee Kubela; Nicholas and Malena Jirak, Erica Miller; his sister, Sharilyn “Terry” (Robert) Bodson, Harrison, Alaska; his sister-in-law, Theresa Kubela, Wahpeton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Joseph; his brother, Norman “Buzz” Kubela; his sister, Yvonne Veitenheimer and his brother-in-law, Lawrence Veitenheimer.
Annette M. Hanson, 49
Annette Marie Hanson, 49, Wahpeton, N.D., died in her home on Aug. 21, 2010.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge, Minn., with the Rev. Gordon Lee officiating.
Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral from 12-1 p.m.
Annette was born to Earl and Lorraine (Olson) Hanson on June 23, 1961 in Breckenridge. She grew up and attended schools in Wahpeton, graduating high school in 1979. She continued her education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. After college, Annette moved back to Wahpeton and stayed busy with various jobs. She met Paul Milbrandt and afterward Alicia, their daughter was born. Annette devoted her life to staying home and raising her daughter. In her spare time, she valued reading and spending time with her family and friends. Annette also took pleasure in spending time with Boomer, her cat.
Annette is survived by: her daughter, Alicia Milbrandt of Wahpeton; her sister, Joan Hanson of Wahpeton; her brothers, James (Virginia) Hanson of Fergus Falls, Minn., and Mark Hanson of Fergus Falls; her sister-in-law, Dorean Hanson of Wahpeton; nieces, Angela, Kelly, Tanya and Cassandra; and great-nephew, Kayson Jossart.
Annette is preceded by: her parents, Earl and Lorraine (Olson) Hanson; her brothers, Glenn and Keith; and Alicia’s father, Paul Milbrandt.
Mary Ann Miesen, 76
Mary Ann Miesen, 76, Wahpeton, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, Minn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13 at St. John’s Catholic Church with a 7 p.m. prayer service. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lidgerwood, N.D.
Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.
Helmuth “Les” J. Leske, 65
Helmuth “Les” J. Leske, 65, West Fargo, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, N.D.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, N.D.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 with a prayer service at 8 p.m. in West Funeral Home.
Helmuth J. Leske was born on April 18, 1945, in Wahpeton, N.D. He grew up in the Mantador, N.D., and Wolverton, Minn., area and graduated from Breckenridge (Minn.) High School. From 1966 to 1969, he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. On Aug. 24, 1974, he married
Carol Getz in Webster, S.D., and they moved to West Fargo in 1978. He began serving in the U.S. Air Guard in 1977 retiring in 2000.
Les enjoyed working on cars, small engines and woodworking.
He is survived by: his wife, Carol, West Fargo; sons, Michael (May) Leske, Davenport, Fla., and Corey Leske, North Arlington, N.J.; daughter, Stacey (Chris Schoenborn) Leske, Fargo; grandson, Michael Isaac Leske; brother, Norman (Beverly) Leske, Hesperia, Calif.; and sisters, Margaret (Larry) Vogt, New London, Minn., and Mary Teinry, Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Helmuth and Madelia (Puetz) Leske; and sisters, Sharon Leske and Diane Manske.
Gauge Wyatt Niemeier, infant
Gauge Wyatt Niemeier, infant son of Trent and Brandi Niemeier, died peacefully in his home in rural Walcott, N.D., on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, after a courageous battle with a congenital heart disease.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at Boulger Funeral home, Fargo, N.D., with the Rev. Dan Braaten officiating.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 at Boulger Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Richland Cemetery
in Walcott, N.D.
Gauge was born on Sept. 18, 2009. He laughed and smiled throughout nearly 12 months, bringing joy and happiness to everyone he touched. Gauge was deeply loved and will be remembered for his sweet disposition and handsome red hair.
Gauge’s life was greatly enriched by his closest friends: Pastor Dan, Grandma Debbie, and the Braaten family; Dr. Deoskar and all of the special “moms” and staff at Innovis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Clinic; Janelle, Beth, and Chalcee; Tennille; the physicians and PAC team at Boston Children’s Hospital; the staff, volunteers and partners of Hospice of the Red River Valley; and his friends at Prairie Heights Community Church. Trent and Brandi would like to thank all of the many individuals, organizations, family and friends that have provided tremendous support for them over the past several months.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his grandparents, Bryan and Marcia Niemeier of Annawan, Ill., Mike Bayles of West Fargo, N.D., and Shirley Bayles of Southaven, Miss.; great-grandparents, Virginia Niemeier and Irene Talbert, both of Lena, Ill., Dot Bayles of Clarksdale, Miss., and W.C. Malone of Valdosta, Ga.; three uncles; and five cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his great-grandparents, Melvin Niemeier, Richard Talbert, Harold Bayles Sr., and Lorene Malone.
