Norma Magill
Norma (Seefeldt) Magill, 73 of Lisbon, ND passed away Tuesday morning, December 23, 2003 at Banner Bayfield Hospital in Mesa, Ariz., where she and her husband, Roland T. Magill resided at their winter home.
Norma Seefeldt was born August 20, 1930 in Grandview Township in LaMoure County, N.D. She was the fourth of seven children born to Albert and Bertha (Onness) Seefeldt. She attended school in Grand Rapids, N.D. and LaMoure, N.D. In her youth, she was active in church activities and 4-H.
Norma attended college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from NDSU in 1952. While at NDSU, she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and was very active in campus activities. Upon graduating from college, she taught Home Ec. in Litchville, N.D. and Benson, Minn.
In 1954, she married Roland T. Magill. Norma and Rollie farmed southeast of Verona until they semi-retired to Lisbon, in 1990. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Verona. Norma was an accomplished seamstress, sewing beautiful clothing for her children and herself and she loved everything involved with keeping her family home. Also of special importance to Norma was the time spent with her parents, brothers and sisters and their families. They gathered at least twice a year, spending time at Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids, Minn. in summer and at Grandpa and Grandma Seefeldt's farm every Christmas.
Norma is survived by her husband, Rollie and four children, Linda (Lee) Dybsand Fargo, N.D., Steve (Debbie) Magill, Milwaukee, Wis., Becky (Pat) Purdy, Dell Rapids, S.D., and Chuck (Kausha) Magill, Verona; ten grandchildren; her mother, Bertha Seefeldt, Shakopee, Minn.; one brother, Jerome (Ruth) Seefeldt, Grand Rapids; and three sisters, Audrey (Don) Neff, Bella Vista, Ariz.; LaDonna Fischer, Burnsville, Minn.; and Myrna (Milt) Hovland, also of Burnsville; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father, Albert Seefeldt her brother, Ronald Seefeldt and his wife Pearl, her sister Bonnie Gordon and her husband Jerry and her brother-in-law Gene Fischer.
Funeral Services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Verona at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 with Pastor Dave Isaacson officiating.
Pallbearers were Chad Wagner, Chad Seefeldt, Milt Hovland, Donovan Stetson, Vernon Porter, and Claire Seefeldt.
Music was provided by organist Larry Dick and soloist Wayne Strander.
Internment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara J. Gerbracht
Funeral services for Barbara Jo “Barb” Gerbracht, 52, Sturgis, S.D. were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Sturgis. Barbara died Friday, December 12, 2003 at her home.
Barbara Jo “Barb” Cregger, daughter of Duane and Joyce (Berg) Cregger was born on September 12, 1951 in Hettinger, N.D.
On December 22, 1966, she married Frank Gerbracht at Hettinger. The couple ranched near Zeona for 22 years where Barb was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Hand-E-Hands Extension Club, 4-H, as well as ranching. Barb moved to Bison, S.D. in 1988 where she worked for the S.D. State Highway Department. She also worked as an EMT in Bison. She was an active member of the Jaycees. She moved to Sturgis in 1997 and attended Western Dakota Vo-Tech where she graduated at the top of her class as a pharmacy technician. She was employed at the Fort Meade VA Hospital as a pharmacy tech until her retirement in 2003.
She is survived by her father, Duane Cregger, Hettinger, her ex-husband, Frank Gerbracht, Zeona; one son, Jamie (Danelle) Gerbracht, Zeona; one daughter, Tammy Even, Sturgis; one brother, Larry Cregger, California; one sister, Sher Devitt, Lisbon; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Charles M. Walberg
Funeral services for Charles M. Walberg, 51, Oxford, Ala., were held on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at the Harvest Outreach Church (Assembly), Wahpeton, ND. Pastor Todd officiated. Mr. Walberg died Saturday, December 20, 2003 at his residence in Alabama.
Charles “Chip” Meade Walberg, son of Lloyd and Marion (Trove) Walberg was born on June 9, 1952 at Breckenridge, Minn. He grew up in rural Walcott, attending rural schools. He graduated from Kindred High School in 1970 where he participated in basketball, football and excelled in track. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1970 to 1973 with a tour in Vietnam. He returned to the area and attended NDSCS and worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he had numerous assignments with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He retired from the army in 1992. He worked for ECG Environmental Control Group and received his BS and MBA from Jacksonville State University.
He is survived by his parents, Lloyd and Marion Walberg, rural Walcott; two sisters, Stephanie (Darrel) Liedahl, McLeod, Jill (Tom) Solhjem, Fort Benning, Ga.; one brother, Carl Walberg, Fargo; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Walberg, Leonard; special friends, Mike and Beverly Beardon, Oxford, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Walberg and his grandparents.
Military honors will be conducted the the Hagen-Helgeson American Legion Post No. 166. Walcott.

Edward E. Kriz
Funeral services for Edward E. Kriz, 96, Oakes, N.D., were held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, Oakes. Father Mathew Pamplaniyil officiated. Mr. Kriz died Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center.
Edward E. Kriz, son of Vaclav and Adele (Wannis) Kriz was born on April 18, 1907 on the family farm near Geneseo, N.D. He grew up and attended rural schools near Geneseo and Cayuga, N.D. Ed worked on area farms before putting himself through the Moler Barber School in St. Paul, Minn. In 1936, Ed sold his shop in Lisbon and purchased a barbershop in Oakes.
On November 26, 1936, he married Evelyn Wisnewski. Ed retired from his business in 1973. The couple continued to live in Oakes before entering the Oakes Good Samaritan Center. Ed was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church and the Holy Name society. He was an active member of the American Legion, founding member of the Men’s Club in Oakes and was part of the horseshoe group.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Oakes; one son, Thomas (Judy), Hot Springs, S.D.; one daughter, Eileen Flint, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ray Schnell, Gary Schnell, Eric Kriz, Jack Loepp, Andy Kriz and Mike Peters.
Music was provided by organist Vesta Olderness and the St. Charles Church Choir provided special music.
Interment at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, near Oakes.

Helen J. Lund
Funeral services for Helen J. Lund, 74, Wahpeton, formerly Lisbon, were held on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at First United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Reverend Beth Conrad officiated. Mrs. Lund died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton.
Helen Joan Rhodenbaugh, daughter of Francis and Faye (Higgins) Rhodenbaugh was born on June 11, 1929 in rural Wyndmere. She attended school in Wyndmere.
She married Frank Olson. He died August 3, 1982. December 18, 1994 she married Elmer O. Lund in Lisbon. Helen lived in Minneapolis where she worked as a nanny for several years. She then moved to Michigan City, Ind. where she worked as a nanny. She moved to San Francisco, Calif. to care for her aunt. She returned to Wyndmere to live with her mother. After her marriage to Frank they lived in Lisbon where she continued to live until moving to St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton.
She is survived by one brother, Dean Rhodenbaugh, Brazoria, Texas; and two sisters, Carol Yeater, Highland Village, Texas and Merle Marquiss, Michigan City, Ind. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas and Keith and a nephew, Bradley.
Pallbearers for the funeral were John Drewlow, Joe Wheeler, Charles Brosowske, Mitch Rhodenbaugh, Jay Rhodenbaugh, Sabrina Rhodenbaugh and Derek Rhodenbaugh.
Music was provided by organist Mary Jo Smith and soloist Joan Montgomery.
Interment at Stiklestad, rural Fort Ransom.

Ira F. Thompson
Funeral services for Ira F. Thompson, 81, Fargo, were held on Saturday, January 3, 2004 in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Mr. Thompson died Monday, December 29, 2003 at his home.
Ira F. Thompson, son of Elmer and Ida (Germanson) Thompson was born on September 1, 1922 in Leonard. The family farmed in the Leonard area and later moved to Medina, N.D. The family then moved to Sheldon where Ira attended Sheldon High School. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-45 and was stationed in the South Pacific. Following his military service Ira moved to Fargo. On April 29, 1950, he married Lillian D. Poliquin. He became a truck driver at Farmers Union Oil Company in Fargo, later known as Cenex. He retired from Cenex after 30 years of service to the company. Mrs. Thompson died February 19, 2000.
He is survived by one son, Harold Thompson, Fargo; one daughter Shirley Zimmerman, Motley, Minn; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Olson, Leonard and Ardis (Melford) Schobinger, Minot. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lillian.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Louise Speyers
Funeral services for Louise F. Speyers, 87, Fargo, were held on Monday, January 5, 2004 at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Mrs. Speyers died Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Manorcare Health Services, Fargo.
Louise Fandetta Simon, daughter of Dr. John and Jennie Mae (Hawley) Simon was born on June 25, 1916 in Kintyre, N.D. She grew up in Kintyre and in Napoleon, where she graduated from high school in 1935. Louise attended First Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill.
On March 11, 1937, she married Alphonse W. Loehrer at Chicago. They lived in Chicago until 1945, when they moved to Napoleon and farmed. Louise taught at a rural school in the Napoleon area for a year. Alphonse died May 1, 1953. After his death, Louise moved to Iowa City, Iowa to live for a year. Louise married John “Jack” Speyers on December 16, 1954 at Napoleon. They farmed near Napoleon. In 1975 they moved into Napoleon and in 1977, moved to Fargo. Since coming to Fargo, Louise has been active in the “Senior Companion” program. Jack died October 21, 1982. After his death, she continued to live in Fargo. In September of 2003 she became a resident of Manorcare Health Services in Fargo.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennie (Charles) Rousu, Fargo and Jane (Myron) Hammer, Kathryn; three step-daughters, Norma Thomas, Kellogg, Idaho, ElRose Marie (Bill) Hallock, Jamestown, and Carol Altman, Nashville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Lyle W. Hazer, Brookings, S.D. and Antone Speyers, Jamestown; two brothers, Dr. Stuart (Judy) Simon, Norman, Okla. and Dr. Ray (Esther) Simon, Sun City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Clara Simon, Napoleon; 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her son, John S. Loehrer, step-daughter, Delores Meade, infant sister, Edith Simon and brothers Frank and Roy Simon.
Interment at Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon.
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, was in charge of arrangements.

Patricia J. Olson
Funeral services for Patricia J. Olson, 77, Fargo, formerly Lisbon, were held on Friday, January 9, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Reverend David Killeen officiated. Mrs. Olson died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Patricia J. Cameron, daughter of William and Minnie (Johnson) Cameron was born on August 14, 1926 in Pierpont, S.D. She attended school in Pierpont, S.D. On June 7, 1943, she married William Olson in Webster, S.D.They lived in various locations in South Dakota, Montana and North Dakota before moving to Lisbon in 1971. Pat worked as a Home Care Specialist for Ransom County Social Services for 25 years before retiring in 1999.
She is survived by three sons, William Olson, Grove City, Minn., Richard (Diana), Miltona, Minn., Steve (Sharon) Olson, Atwater, Minn., four daughters, Kathleen (Merle) Hedland, Naperville, Il, Cheryl (Tony) Kalvoda, Mandan, Kim (Todd) Haarsager, Fort Ransom, Patricia (Lance) Larson, Casselton, 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Macel) Faulkton, S.D., and Dean (Opal) Moorhead. She was preceded in death by her siblings Genevieve, Lucille, Robert, Rodney, Kenneth and Curtis.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jeff Olson, Drew Olson, Blayne Olson, Shawn Olson, Craig Olson, Brian Olson, Justin Henricks, Anthony Kalvoda, Ryan Kalvoda and honorary pallbearer Eric Haarsager.
Music was provided by organist Cindy Hagel and soloists Jessica Rose Kalvoda and Arlys Carter.
Interment at Homer Cemetery, rural Pierpont, S.D.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.
