Phyllis Selig
Funeral services for Phyllis Selig, 74, Jamestown, were held on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Reverend Terry Anderson officiated. Mrs. Selig died Thursday, February 12, 2004 in her home.
Phyllis Anderson, daughter of Anson J. and Alice (Strickland) Anderson was born on March 27, 1929 in Lisbon. She grew up in Lisbon and graduated from Lisbon High School. Phyllis worked at the Lisbon Cafe.
In August 1946, she married Jim Reidburn. They moved to Jamestown in 1965. He preceded her in death. She worked for the Jamestown Sun from 1969 until retiring in 1992. She married Robert Selig in 1971. They continued to make their home in Jamestown. He preceded her in death. Phyllis was active in the VFW, Cooties and the local bowling leagues.
She is survived by four sons, James (Linda) Reidburn, Phoenix, Ariz., Steven (Margaret) Reidburn, Jamestown, Richard (Eileen) Reidburn, Jamestown and Dana (Peggy) Reidburn, Jamestown; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Anderson, Michigan and Anson (Verana) Anderson, Hamburg, Germany and her step-mother, Muriel Anderson, Wyndmere. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son, Jackie, and two brothers, Lonnie and Loran.
Interment at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert J. Bush
Memorial services for Robert J. “Bob” Bush, 81, Detroit Lakes, Minn., will be held at a later date. Mr. Bush died Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo.
Robert J. Bush, son of Grant and Alice (Casey) Bush was born on March 6, 1922 in Oakes. He grew up and attended school in this area prior to moving to Fargo with his family in 1936. Robert graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1940.
On May 20, 1942, he married Marian Hendricks in Fargo. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Fargo where he worked in sales for many years. In 1977, he moved to Detroit Lakes where he was founder and CEO of North Central Packaging Company until his retirement in 1990.
He is survived by his children, Mari Margaret (John) Rapp, Fargo and Michael J. (Julie) Bush, Fort Ransom, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren

Theodore Jordheim
Funeral services for Theodore Jordheim, 95, Walcott, N.D. were held on Friday, February 13, 2004 at Walcott Lutheran Church. Reverend Sarah Larson Tade officiated. Mr. Jordheim died Monday, February 9, 2004 at MeritCare, Fargo.
Theodore Jordheim, son of Nels and Sidsal (Mykleseth) Jordheim was born on August 3, 1908. He graduated from Walcott High School and went to Concordia College for one year.
On July 14, 1935, he married Florence Irene Nipstad at the Kindred Parsonage. He farmed his entire life in the Walcott area. Florence died in 1988. He entered Bethany Homes in 1999 and recently moved to the Evergreens.
He is survived by one daughter Arlys (Virgil) Torgerson, Kindred; one son, Verdell (Phyllis) Jordheim, Walcott; seven grandchildren, including Deb Lee, Lisbon; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Selmer (Eleanor, Mesa, Ariz.; and one sister-in-law Louise Roache, Alexandria, Minn.
Pallbearers for the funeral were his grandchildren Dale Torgerson, Diana Cole, Dave Torgerson, Debra Lee, Pam Munkeby, Sharolyn Mattson and Lynelle Bachmeier.
Music was provided by organist Rhonda Jordheim Macdonald and soloist Pastor Phil Larson.
Interment at Walcott Cemetery, Walcott.

Cleo M. Bopp
Funeral services for Cleo M. Bopp, 77, Forman, N.D., were held on Friday, January 23, 2004 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Cogswell. Reverend Father Franklin Miller officiated. Mrs. Bopp died Monday, January 19, 2004 at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes.
Cleo Marie Christianson, daughter of Emil and Mary (Masse) Christianson was born on June 11, 1926 at Britton, S.D. She attended school in Britton until moving with her family to Brampton, N.D. in 1936. In 1937 the family moved to the Cogswell area, where her father began Christianson’s Bar in Cogswell. Cleo graduated from Cogswell High School in 1944. She attended Wahpeton State School of Science until she obtained employment in Fairmount, N.D. at Citizens Bank.
On September 16, 1946, she married Leonard “Bo” Bopp at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Cogswell. They lived with Bo’s parents on the family farm until buying the Sweetman farm nearby. Bo died in October of 1986. Cleo spent winters in Texas until 2000. She moved to an apartment in Forman in 2001 and then to Four Season Healthcare Center in 2002. Cleo served for several years on the Sargent County Social Service Board and was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She belonged to a Homemaker’s Club and a Birthday Club for many years.
She is survived by four sons, Mark (Jean) Bopp, Forman, Lyle (fiancee Barb) Bopp, Cogswell, Jeffrey (Deb) Bopp, Valley City, Michael (Kristy) Bopp, Enderlin; two daughters, Laurel (Doran) Mallberg, Cogswell, Karen (Rodney) Nelson, Havana; twenty-two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Claude (Madelyn) Christianson, Moorhead and Warren (Marlys) Christianson, Santa Rosa, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Doran, two sisters, Katherine and LaVon and a daughter-ion-law, Jill (Lyle) Bopp.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Cody Bopp, Casy Bopp, Kevin Bopp, Anthony Mallberg, Tracie Mallberg-Shaffer, Terry Mallberg, Samantha Bopp, Zachary Bopp, Jocelyn Bopp, Beau Bopp, Jarvis, Bopp, Ember Ingebretson, Jessica Bopp, Derrick Bopp, Lucas Bopp, Leif Nelson, Kean Nelson, Bryn Nelson, Rane Nelson, Joshua Bopp, Kassandra Bopp and Heather Bopp.
Music was provided by organist Kathy Hayen and soloist Deb Bopp.
Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cogswell.
Price Funeral Chapel, Forman, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Bacheller
Dorothy Bacheller, 89, Santa Barbara, Calif., passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004 at her home.
Dorothy Bangert, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Bangert was born on January 9, 1915 in Enderlin and lived there most of her life. She graduated with honors from the University of North Dakota in 1937.
In 1937, she married Stephen C. Bacheller in Chicago Ill. After Dr. Bacheller completed his medical training in Chicago, they settled in Enderlin where they lived until moving to Santa Barbara, Calif. in 1973. Dorothy was a member of the St. Frances Hospital Guild and volunteers in the St. Francis gift shop and patient’s library in Santa Barbara. In North Dakota, Dorothy was an active volunteer in many organizations including serving on a committee of four to construct a city swimming pool. She was District and State President of the Auxiliary to the North Dakota State Medical Association and Regional Vice President of the Auxiliary to the American Heart Association. She was a prolific writer of letters to the editors of newspapers and national magazines as well as to U.S. Presidents.
She is survived by two daughters, Starr (Jack) Garvey and Jane (Norm) Habermann; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Harold and sister, Constance.
According to her wishes, her family will be scattering her ashes at sea.

Earl R. Dosch
Funeral services for Earl R. Dosch, 84, Wahpeton, N.D., were held on Friday, January 23 at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton. Reverend Jeanne Semrad officiated. [Mr. Dosch died Monday, January 19, 2004 at his home in Wahpeton. Earl Robert Dosch, son of Simon and Violet (Strubel) Dosch, was born April 28, 1919 near Great Bend. He attended rural school near Great Bend and graduated from high school at Hankinson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from June 1942 to November 1945. After the service he returned to the area and helped at his parents’ business, Dosch Cafe in Hankinson. He later owned and operated a bowling alley.
On May 18, 1950, he married Matilda “Tillie” Peterschick in Hankinson. They lived in Wahpeton and moved to Lisbon where Earl worked for the police department. In 1955, they moved to Wahpeton where Earl worked as a North Dakota Highway Patrolman. Earl became sheriff for Richland County from 1966-1982. His wife, Tillie died on August 9, 1967. He married Mary Ann McKay. On December 28, 1974, he married Kathy Ista. The couple has resided in Wahpeton since. He was a member of the VFW, Disabled American Vets, and 40 et 8. He was also a member of the American Legion, a 10th District Commander, and was involved with the American Legion baseball program and with Boys’ State. He was a charter member of the Elks, member of the Eagles and the North Dakota Peace Officers’ Association. He had judged Golden Gloves boxing and umpired area softball.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Dosch, Wahpeton; five children, Paula (Bill) Hahne, Janesville, Minn., Gayle (Gene) Thompson, Breckenridge, Minn., Calvin (Louise) Dosch, Wahpeton, Robin Dosch, Madison, Wis., and Tana (Ken) Jablonsky, Fargo; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tillie; his brother, Roy Dosch; and his brother and sister in infancy.
Military honors conduted by the Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No. 20, Wahpteon and the Wahpeton VFW Post No. 4324.
Interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Grace I. Carlson
Funeral services for Grace I. Carlson, 89, Enderlin, formerly Milnor, were held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Mrs. Carlson died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Grace Isabel Stanley, daughter of Mark and Nita (Cross) Stanley was born on October 30, 1914 near Milnor. She was raised in the Milnor area and attended Sydna Consolidated School.
On January 6, 1932, she married Johnnie Carlson in Britton, S.D. The couple lived in the Milnor area where Grace was one of the first cooks in the Milnor School hot lunch program. In 1951 Grace and Johnnie moved to Fargo where Grace began her 23 year employment with Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota. He died in 1966. Upon her retirement, Grace moved back to Milnor and worked as a cook for the Milnor Senior Center for nine years. She continued to live in Milnor before entering Maryhill Manor in Enderlin in March of 2001. She was a member of the Milnor Lutheran Church.
She is survived by four sons, Donn “Tim” (Bev) Larson, Enderlin, Jerry (Jan) Carlson, Enderlin, Larry (Ruth) Carlson, Argusville, and David (Patty) Carlson, Campbellsville, Ky.; one sister, Arlene (Dick) Hopkins, Camanche, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Joan and Jeanette, her parents, two brothers, Ben and Victor, and one sister Amy.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Bruce Larson, Todd Larson, Jack Carlson, Karl Carlson, Joseph Valvo, Patrick Carlson, James Carlson and Mark Carlson.
Music was provided by organist Carol Ydstie and soloist Bob Schutt.
Interment at Whitestone Hill Cemetery, near Milnor.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Milnor, was in charge of arrangements.

Alice Berntson
Funeral services for Alice Berntson, 92, Valley City, formerly Sanborn, N.D., were held on Monday, January 19, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sanborn. Reverend Al Almaras officiated. Mrs. Bernston died Tuesday, January 16, 2004 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Alice Berntson, daughter of Frank and Harriet (Hinsberger) Hesch was born on May 6, 1911 at Eckelson, N.D. She grew up on the family farm near Eckelson and graduated from Valley City High School. After her graduation from Valley City State University, Alice began teaching at a one room country school near Kathryn.
On September 27, 1933, she married Bernhard Berntson. The couple farmed near Sanborn until their retirement in 1975 when they moved into Sanborn. He died August 31, 1979. Alice later moved into Valley City and resided at the Rudolf Square Apartments and later moved into the Sheyenne Care Center.
Alice was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers, Sacred Heart Circle #4, Sandborn-Eckelson American Legion Auxiliary, Heman Homemakers, Senior Citizens, Seniors Citizens Kitchen Band, Sheyenne Care Center Auxiliary, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and her birthday club.
She is survived by three sons, Rodger (Joy) Berntson, Sandborn, Kenneth (Carroll) Berntson, Fargo, formerly Lisbon, and James (Shareen) Berntson, Sandborn; one daughter, Jeanette (Ken) Reid, Valley City; one sister, Vera Carcia, Boston, Mass.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City in the spring.
Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt, Valley City was in charge of arrangements.
