Michael R. Krchnavy
Michael Roy Krchnavy, 53 passed away May 10, 2004 in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born August 5, 1950, in Oakes, N.D. and grew up in Lisbon, N.D. He was a devoted husband, father, son, grandson, uncle, and friend. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
He graduated from Lisbon High School in Lisbon, N.D. and attended Valley City State College. After college, he worked for Mutual of New York in Fargo, N.D. where he was a member of the Fargo Lions Club. Mike was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lisbon and Fargo.
On October 15, 1977, he and Sheila Isaak were married
at the First Congregational Church in Kulm, N.D. They resided in Fargo until 1986 when they and their two children moved to Phoenix, Ariz. He continued to sell insurance, joining Farmers Insurance Co. of Arizona in 1999 and became a Topper Club Award Recipient and qualified for the Blue Vase award, which can be earned only once in a lifetime. He became the Charter President of the newly formed Glendale Bellair Lions Club in 2002, and was a Zone Chairman in District 32 - A for the year 2003-20004.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila, and their two children, Christopher and Jaclyn, of Glendale, Ariz., his grandmother, Grace Kinney, and his mother, Phyllis Krchnavy, both of Lisbon, two brothers, Monte (Debbie) of Hagar, Wis. and Terry (Shari) of Fargo, and one sister, Julie Wheeler of Lisbon. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marcene Puhlman of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Sonja Jenkins of Fort Collins, Colo. He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albin Krchnavy and two brothers-in-law, Adolph Puhlman and Lee Banek.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15 at Mission Bell United Methodist Church, in Glendale, Ariz. Another memorial service will be held at a later date in Lisbon, N.D. Elwood A. Anderson
Private services for Elwood A. Anderson, 89, Homeland, Calif., were held. Mr. Anderson died Friday, July 16, 2004 at Hemet Valley Medical Center, Hemet, Calif.
Elwood Arthur Anderson, son of Arthur D. and Susie E. (Wheatley) Anderson was born on April 4, 1915 in Jamestown, N.D.
Mr. Anderson operated Elwood’s Finnish Bath one mile south of Lisbon from 1957 to 1978. He worked as a massage therapist for 45 years.
He is survived by one son, Gene W. Anderson, Homeland, Calif.; two daughters, Claudette Richmon, Redmond, Ore. and Karen Duke, Klamath Falls, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens, Klamath Falls, Ore.

Ruth E. Gabert
Memorial services for Ruth Elaine (Holt) Gabert, 81, Fountain of the Sun, Mesa, Ariz., were held in Mesa, Ariz., and a graveside service was held in Moses Lake at Pioneer Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 12, 2004. Mrs. Gabert died Saturday, May 15, 1004 after a long battle with cancer.
Ruth E. Gabert, daughter of Hans and Louisa Holt was born on June 29, 1922 on the family farm in Aliceton Township, Ransom County. She attended school in Aliceton Township and Milnor. She graduated from Mayville Teacher’s College in Mayville, N.D. in 1943.
On May 17, 1943, she married
Marvin L. Strode. They farmed in North Dakota before moving to Moses Lake. Wash. in 1950. She was active in church activities and choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She taught school in Moses Lake for 25 years at Peninsula Elementary and at Chief Moses and Frontier Junior High Schools. She was widowed in 1969. She married
Ray C. Fellows in 1971 and they moved to Arizona in 1976. She was widowed again in 1982. She married
Arthur Gabert in 1984 in Mesa. They lived in Fountain of the Sun.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Gabert, Mesa; one son Gerald M. Strode, Woodinville, Wash.; two daughters, Virginia L. Fields, Kennewick, Wash. and Kathleen L. Goodwin, Walla Walla, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arnold Holt, Mesa. She was preceded in death by husbands Marvin Strode and Ray Fellows and her son, Dan Strode in 1974.
Chad L. Pribbenow
Funeral services for Chad L. Pribbenow, 22, Lisbon, were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at First United Methodist Church, Enderlin. Reverend Duane Ferrie officiated. Mr. Pribbenow died Saturday, July 17, 2004 in rural Hankinson.
Chad Lee Pribbenow, son of Duane and Florence Pribbenow, was born on October 22, 1981 in Breckenridge, Minn. He attended Enderlin Public School. Chad worked at Fargo Assembly in Lisbon. He participated in the MS Bike Tour for five years.
He is survived by his parents, Duane and Florence Pribbenow, Enderlin; three sisters, DuAnne Stockert, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Buffy (Adrian) Kemnitz, Rosholt, S.D., and Roxanne (Mark) Cox, Berlin, N.D.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Owen Trangsrud, Collin Trangsrud, Keith Pribbenow, Warren Pribbenow, Al Hall and Naomi Hall.
Music was provided by organist Verna Armstrong and soloist Paul Billing.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Gordon W. Graham
Mr. Gordon W. Graham, 81 died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at his residence in Coleridge, Neb.
Gordon Warren Graham, son of Clarence James and Rosina (Warren) Graham, was born on February 5, 1923. In 1927 his family moved to Fortuna, N.D. He attended Lincoln Valley High School until entering the U.S. Army Aircorps during WWII. He served his country until he was discharged, February 5, 1947. After the service, Gordon attended Hansen Mechanical Trade School, Fargo.
On September 29, 1951, he married
Gloria Jean Vafed of McLeod, N.D., in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived in the Hartington and Coleridge areas where he farmed until 1957. He also worked for several local businessmen. In the early 1970s he was hired as Deputy Sheriff in Cedar County, where he worked for eight years. Gordon then worked as Cedar County Sheriff for 12 years before retiring. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington, Coleridge American Legion Post #114 and the Nebraska Sheriff’s Association.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria, Coleridge; daughter, Rozanne (Dan Blegen) Graham, Minneapolis; one son, Gary (Cindy) Graham, Hartington; four grandchildren; two sisters, Clarice (Irvin) Holm, Hartington and Evis Olson, Walla Walla, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, David Olson.
Lynelle K. McGregor
Funeral services for Lynelle K. McGregor, 52, Riverdale, N.D., were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Riverdale School gymnasium, Riverdale, N.D. Reverend John Nilsen and Reverend Dan Mauer officiated. Mrs. McGregor died Sunday, July 11, 2004 from injuries sustained in an accident near Pick City, N.D.
Lynelle Kay Janz, daughter of Walter and Frances (Gillund) Janz was born on February 2, 1952 in Fargo. She spent her childhood years living on her parent’s farm near Enderlin. She graduated from Enderlin High School.
On April 11, 1970, she married
Kim McGregor in Enderlin. The couple made their home in Valley City. They moved to Hancock, Minn. for a short time before making Riverdale their permanent home in 1974. She worked for ND Game & Fish Department. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kim McGregor, Riverdale; one son Trevor (Sue) McGregor, Bigfork, Mont.; two daughters, Tasha (Tim) Twardowski, Long Prairie, Minn., Taryn (Krist) Kjelstrup, Underwood, N.D.; mother, Frances Janz, Enderlin; one sister Carolyn (Harvey) Grinager, Wahpeton; and two brothers Erling Janz, Enderlin, and Lyle (Claudia) Janz, Enderlin. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Janz.

Marsha M. Fredrich
Funeral services for Marsha M. Fredrich, 57, New Prague, Minn., were held on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Prague, Minn. Reverend Steve Trewartha officiated. Mrs. Fredrich died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at her home.
Marsha Mae Ulmer, daughter of Victor H. and Sylvia Lillian (Nelson) Ulmer was born on May 12, 1947 in Chicago, Ill. She attended school at Fullerton High School, Fullerton, N.D., Normandale Junior College and Mankato State University.
On August 12, 1967, she married
Terrill D. Fredrich in Oakes. She was a buyer/planner at Conklin Company for 24 years. She was a member of the Twin City Purchasing Managers Association and was a volunteer at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of Toastmaster’s Club.
She is survived by her husband Terrill Fredrich, New Prague; one daughter, Lynn Rae (Charles) Eaton, New Prague, Minn.; one son, Jay Allan (Melissa) Fredrich, Maple Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren; her parents Victor H. and Sylvia L. (Nelson) Ulmer, Oakes; five sisters, Sharon K. (Norman) Bakkegard, Pipestone, Minn., Harriet J. (Raymond) Meyer, Morristown, S.D., Janell (Bryan) Beggs, Williston; Correen (Dwight) Crabtree, Rogers, Minn. LaVae (Cameron) Carlson, Dallas, Texas; and four brothers, Terry (Diane) Ulmer, Hecla, S.D., Bruce (Sharon) Ulmer, Lisbon, Steve Ulmer, Oakes, and Brian Ulmer, Spearfish, S.D.

Bernard S. Blasczyk
Funeral services for Bernard S. (Blackey) Blasczyk, 81, Minneapolis, Minn., were held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at St. John the Baptist Church, St. Paul, Minn. Mr. Blasczyk died Monday, July 5, 2004 in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Bernard S. Blasczyk was born on July 4, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minn. He graduated from Edison High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He was a veteran of World War II and served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Bernard trained as a fighter pilot and flew 25 missions in B-24s flying out of North Africa. Instead of returning to the U.S., he transferred to a P-38 squadron. He was shot down in Yugoslavia and was severely wounded. He was missing in action for almost a month and farmers kept him alive behind enemy lines. Bernard was taken to a Russian Field Hospital and cared for until transferred to U.S. forces. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After retiring from the Army Air Corp, in 1948, he became owner/operator of Blackey’s Bakery in Minneapolis, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mae; five sons, William (Linda), Lisbon, John (Patty), Sauk Rapids, Minn., Daniel, Denver, Colo., David (Donna), Ketchikan, Ark.; one daughter, Judy, Aptos, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Interment at National Cemetery, Fort Snelling, Minn.
Harlan Nelson
Funeral services for Harlan Nelson, 79, Pickerel Lake, Minn., were held on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at St. James Catholic Church, Maine, Minn. Father Paul Folsom officiated. Mr. Nelson died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Lake Region Hospital.
Harlan Nelson, son of Henry and Mabel (Tennefos) Nelson was born on April 11, 1925 in Fergus Falls, Minn. He was baptized May 14, 1925 in the Lutheran faith at Gwinner. He grew up at Milnor and graduated from there in 1942. From 1942 to 1946 he served with the U.S. Navy during WWII as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the Marshall Islands.
On November 23, 1949, he married
Kathleen Dickerson at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. He owned and operated a plumbing store in Milnor with his father and brother and later worked at Melroe Manufacturing in Gwinner for 20 years. He was a member of the VFW at Milnor.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Patricia (Steve) Ellerbusch, Aberdeen, S.D.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Stewart and Michael and a brother, Merton Nelson.
Interment at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Maine, Minn.
