Myrtle Stevens
Funeral services for Myrtle Stevens, 93, Kathryn, N.D., were held on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathryn. Reverend Bradley Edin officiated. Mrs. Stevens died Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Myrtle Stevens, daughter of Martin and Anna (Hagen) Thompson was born on December 25, 1910 in Ottertail County, Minn. at Lake Lida. She was baptized on February 19, 1911. At the age of 3, she and her family homesteaded near Beechy, Saskatchewan. She attended school there. Myrtle met Alfred Stevens from Kathryn, N.D., who was working for a farmer near her parent’s farm.
On March 22, 1933, she married
Alfred Stevens in Valley City. They lived in Valley City for six years. In 1939, they moved to Nelson Township, Barnes County where they farmed until retiring in 1969 when they moved into Kathryn. Alfred died November 29, 1973. Myrtle continued to make her home in Kathryn until she entered the Sheyenne Care Center in May 2003. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed on March 18, 1951.
She is survived by three sons, Earl (Shirley), Kathryn, James (Virginia), and Merrill (Gladys) all of rural Valley City; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eileen George, British Columbia and two nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, Milo and Michael, her daughter Joyce, a brother Harris and a sister Marcia Vik.
Interment at Sheyenne Valley Cemetery, rural Kathryn.

Doris E. L. Utke
Funeral services for Doris E. L. Utke, 90, Enderlin, were held on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 in Leonard Lutheran Church, Leonard. Reverend Bob Worner officiated. Mrs. Utke died Friday, July 9, 2004 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Doris Edith Lillian Lindemann, daughter of Robert and Alvina (Fraedrich) Lindemann was born on April 2, 1914 in rural Enderlin. She attended rural Enderlin School and Enderlin High School.
On October 18, 1936, she married
Erwin E. Utke in rural Enderlin. They farmed near Lucca and Enderlin for several years. She was active in SVACA.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel (Yvonne) Enderlin, David (Carolyn), Enderlin, Michael (Donna) Enderlin; four daughters, Alanna (Jim) Woell, Enderlin, Maria Utke, Fayetteville, Ark., Robin (Al) Roder, Denison, Iowa, Suzann (Erik Heinila) Utke, Portland, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willis (Peggy) San Jose, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, Verner, Karl, Maynard, Reuben and Kenneth and four sisters, Leona, Esther, Agnes and Alice.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Kenneth Peterson, Jeff Lindemann, Craig Lindemann, Gary Lindemann, Mark Lucio, and Tom Utke.
Music was provided by organist Eileen Geske and soloist Bobby Geske.
Interment at Pontiac Cemetery, rural Enderlin.

George R. Beauchamp
Funeral services for George R. Beauchamp, 77, Lisbon, were held on Friday, August 6, 2004 at N.D. Veterans Home, Lisbon. Father Andrew Dudzinski officiated. Mr. Beauchamp died Monday, August 2, 2004 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo.
George Raymond Beauchamp, son of Avilla and Eva Maria Beauchamp was born on November 23, 1926 in Olga, N.D. He attended school in rural Olga, N.D. He lived in Walhalla where he worked at the Penneys store and for various farmers. He then moved to Michigan. He lived in Alsen, N.D. where he owned and operated a gas station. In 1980 he moved to Devils Lake. In 1987 he moved to Lisbon.
He is survived by eight sisters, Agnes Waslaski, Grand Forks, Doreen (Cecil) Sundeen, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Yvette (Rudy) Kram, Walhalla, N.D., Marie (Ben) Kartes, Seattle, Alyce Kartes, Langdon, N.D., Lorette (Jim) Quam, Mentor, Ohio, Yvonne (Jim) Kartes, Lake Havusu City, Ariz., Anna (Mike) Tetrault, Grand Forks; three brothers, Leon (Alice) Falls City., Ore., and Henry (Nola) Ledoux, Albion, Mich., and Victor (Joyce) Beauchamp, Richland, Mich.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Gary Thomte, Dave Fjeldahl, Darrel Sauntner, Matt Mauk, Larry Hertwig, George Scull, and Don Wraalstad.
Music was provided by organist Borge Bohlken and soloist Jan Hansen.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

William J. Lund
Funeral services for William J. Lund, 78, Fargo, were held on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo. Mr. Lund died Sunday, August 1, 2004 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
William J. Lund, son of William H. and Alma (Gemar) Lund was born on May 1, 1926 on a farm near Oakes. He grew up on the farm and attended school in Oakes graduating from Oakes High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He was discharged in 1946 and returned home to Oakes.
On August 28, 1949, he married
Ramona J. Brummund in Oakes.The couple lived in Oakes. Mr. Lund began working as a journeyman lineman for Ottertail power Company in Oakes in 1955. The couple moved to Lisbon in 1965 and William was promoted to a lead lineman for Ottertail Power. He retired for health reasons in 1985. The couple moved to Fargo in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona; his children, Dennis (Colleen) Lund, West Fargo, LaMonte (Pam) Lund, Bismarck, Myrna Dick and her fiance Ronald Lemke, Dilworth, and Randi (Bonnie) Lund, Mandan; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and two nephews, who were raised by William and Ramona, Ray Spear, Lisbon and Roy Spear, Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters.
Interment at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.

Ralph E. Murphy, Sr.
Funeral services for Ralph E. “Buzz” Murphy, Sr., 65, Sarles, N.D., were held on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Rolla, N.D. Pastor Kolbo officiated. Mr. Murphy died Thursday, July 29, 2004 in Presentation Medical Center, Rolla.
Ralph E. Murphy, son of Harold and Clara (Christofferson) Murphy was born on June 25, 1939 in Bisbee, N.D.
On June 29, 1960, he married
Juliann Laducer in Belcourt, N.D. He was a farmer and trucker for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Juliann Murphy, Sarles; three sons, Ralph (Ann) Murphy, Sarles, Terry (Traci) Murphy, Sarles, Michael Murphy, Sarles; three daughters, Shirley (Alfred) Mathiason, St. John, N.D., Connie (Mike) Stithem, Stockton, Kan., Clarie Murphy, Belcourt; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gilmore (Cherie) Murphy, Bella Vista, Ariz., Howard Murphy, Sarles, Frances Joe (Lois) Murphy, Rolla and Harold (Barbara) Murphy, Gwinner. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law, Mike and Emily Laducer.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Alfred Mathiason, Mike Stithem, Tony Murphy, Gary Ringham, Dave Nickerson, Dave Murphy, Joe Pederson and Phil Wold.
Honorary pallbearers are family and friends.
Special music was provided by the Mathiason family

Amy L. Musser
Funeral services for Amy L. Musser, 44, Marshall, Minn., were held on Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mrs. Musser died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Marshall, Minn.
Amy L. Groth, daughter of Herbert and Joyce (Haskins) Groth was born on April 8, 1960 in Lisbon. She attended school in Enderlin. Amy attended UND and MSU, graduating from Moorhead State with an Early Childhood Special Ed. Degree.
On August 31, 1985, she married
Steve Musser in Enderlin. Amy lived and worked in various cities in North Dakota and Minnesota.
She is survived by her former husband, Steven Musser, Marshall, Minn.; one son, Matthew, Marshall; one daughter, Bethany, Marshall; her mother, Joyce Groth, Enderlin; three sisters, Kristi (Rob) Kerian, Dallas, Texas, Pauline (David) Spiekermeier, Hiawatha, Iowa, Sara (Bradley) Vaagene, Mayville; one brother, Jason (Candice) Groth, Shakopee, Minn.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Randy Haskins, Rusty Haskins, Rick Haskins, Scott Groth, Rob Kerian, David Spiekermeier, Bradley Vaagene and Dan Lund.
Honorary pallbearers were her cousins.
Music was provided by organist Joan Schlecht and soloist Frank Egan.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery.

Betty Lou Manske
Betty Manske, Lisbon, N.D., died Tuesday, September 7, 2004, in Lisbon, N.D.
Betty Lou Wickoren was born January 18, 1929, in McLeod, N.D. to Nellie and Ingvold Wickoren. She attended school in McLeod, N.D.
She married
Henry (Hank) Manske November 10, 1949 in Moorhead, Minn.
They lived in the Milnor/McLeod area. Hank worked for the County Highway Dept., while Betty stayed home raising their seven children. They moved to Lisbon in 1973. At that time Betty started working at Parkside Nursing Home. She enjoyed the residents and many of her co-workers became her life long friends. She retired after 19 years of dedication.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was cooking and baking for her family and friends. Betty loved music, dancing, playing bingo and cards. She was usually the "life of the party", always managing to make others smile.
She is survived by children, Judy (Tim) Vangerud of Fargo, ND, Jerry (Jan) of Hankinson, ND, Kurt of Lisbon, N.D., Roger (Vickie) of West Fargo, N.D., Craig (Donna) of Wahpeton, N.D., Paul (Janice) of Lisbon, N.D., daughter-in-law Brenda Manske of Horace, N.D.; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Earl (Pat) Wickoren of Milnor, N.D., Donald (Louise) Wickoren of Moorhead, Minn., Ardell (Kay) Wickoren of Wyndmere, N.D., Vern (Nancy) Wickoren of Fargo, N.D.; sisters, Shirley Wiepking of Lisbon, N.D., Dorothy Anderson of Lisbon, N.D.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank; sister, Clarice Halmrast; son, Rodney Manske.
Betty will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by her family.
Services were Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon, N.D. Burial was at Freeman Cemetery, McLeod, N.D.
