Goldie L. Juranek
Hastings resident Goldie L. Juranek, 83, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace.
Rosary is 12:45 p.m. and services are 1 p.m., both Saturday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Monsignor John J. McCabe officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. in St. Martin's (Loucky) Cemetery near Deweese. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home.
Miss Juranek was born Sept. 20, 1912, to Joseph and Mary (Novak) Juranek in Adams County. In 1984 she moved to Hastings from a farm near Lawrence. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
Survivors are two sisters, Dorothy Pope of Hastings and Sylvia Draper of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and three brothers, Ray of Hastings and Bernard and Donald, both of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
Richard L. Troudt
Hastings resident Richard L. Troudt, 56, of 2218 W. Fifth St. died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1995, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Troudt was born July 17, 1939, to William and Bertha (Knehans) Troudt in Mount Clare. On Aug. 9, 1969, he married Diana Cooper. He was a superintendent for heavy road and bridge construction.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors are his wife and one daughter, Andrea; four sons, Steven of San Antonio, David of Hastings, Michael of Gurley and Glenn of Lincoln; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or the family.
Karen R. Stover
Franklin resident Karen Renee (Ellsworth) Stover, 42, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1995, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Memorial services are 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Franklin with the Rev. Richard L. Dimond officiating. The remains were cremated. There will be no visitation. Hutchins Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stover was born Aug. 11, 1953, to Arthur and Lois (Jansen) Ellsworth in Lincoln. She graduated from South High School in Omaha and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. On July 28, 1979, she married Randall Stover at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon. She was owner of Keepsakes Unlimited. She lived in Cottage Grove, Ore., San Jose, Calif., and Omaha before moving to Franklin in 1977.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin, Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, of which she was secretary and NCIP chairwoman, and Franklin County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors are her husband, daughter, Wendy, and son, Dean; one stepson, Troy Stover of Red Cloud; one stepdaughter, Mindy Hackel of Ord; her mother of Franklin; two sisters, Mary Ann Andrews of CoCoa, Fla., and Lois Jean Reddick of Cottage Grove, Ore.; three brothers, John Ellsworth of Winter Haven, Fla., Ronald Ellsworth of Willis, Calif., and Robert Ellsworth of Evansville, Ind.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Kenneth E. Reichstein
Former Campbell resident Kenneth Ervin Reichstein, 79, of Fremont died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1995, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Home chapel in Norfolk with the Rev. Terry Buol officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery at Norfolk. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Reichstein was born April 5, 1916, to John and Hanna (Chadderton) Reichstein in Campbell. He graduated from Bladen High School. He farmed near Campbell. In 1940 he moved to Buhl, Idaho, where he continued to farm. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-46. He also was a military policeman in the Civil Service Corps, serving in Japan for one year. He managed Buhl Golf Course at Buhl. He later moved to a farm near Burdett, Kan. In 1954, he moved to Cozad where he worked at the local hay mill. He later was a truck driver for Little Audrey and then Bowman Trucking, both in Fremont until retiring in 1993. He married Erma Ream Oct. 26, 1945, at Camp Roberts, Calif. They later divorced.
Survivors are one daughter, Marcia Adle of Norfolk; one son, Craig of Lexington; one sister, Gloria Eggelston of Buhl; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Harold R. Porter
Chester resident Harold R. Porter, 70, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 1995, near Haddam, Kan.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Chester with the Rev. T.J. Fraser officiating. Burial will be in Chester Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home in Chester.
Mr. Porter was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Norden. He moved to Chester in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of United Methodist Church of Chester. He was past president and chairman of the State Bank of Chester and served on its board of directors for 38 years. He was past member and chairman of the Chester Village Board, past member and president of the Chester Community Club and past member of the board of directors of the Nebraska Independent Bankers Association and First National Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the Pan American Highway Association, Deshler VFW Post No. 11010 and Hubbell American Legion Post No. 317. He also was a Boy Scout leader. He recently was inducted into the Nebraska Wesleyan University Athletic Hall of Fame.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie J.; three sons, Alan of Chester, Warren of Houston and Timothy of Olathe, Kan.; two brothers, Ronald of Enumclaw, Wash., and Bernard of Los Gatos, Calif.; three sisters, Maxine Dowding of Palmyra, Janice West of Omaha and Aldine Turner of Lincoln; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to United Methodist Church.
Opal L. Herrick
Guide Rock resident Opal L. (Cramer) Herrick, 80, died Friday, Dec. 15, 1995, at Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Simonson-Williams Funeral Home chapel in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dennis R. Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial will be in Guide Rock Cemetery.
Mrs. Herrick was born Feb. 5, 1915, to Claude and Maud (Barlow) Cramer on a farm south of Bladen in Webster County. She attended Rural School District 40 and graduated from Bladen High School in 1932. She was a telephone operator at the Bladen switchboard. On April 25, 1936, she married Carold A. Herrick in Hastings. They farmed south of Red Cloud. In 1943, they moved to Guide Rock. In 1950, they moved to a farm north of Amboy. She worked in nursing homes in Red Cloud and Blue Hill, later working at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings. In 1969, they moved to Denver. She returned to school and earned a licensed practical nurse degree. She worked for a Denver nursing home. In 1978, they moved to Shoshone, Idaho, and returned to Guide Rock in 1986. Her husband died Sept. 25, 1987.
Survivors are two daughters, Caroldene Williams and Dixie Herrick, both of Guide Rock; four sons, Wendell of Gunnison, Colo., William and Leonard, both of Franklin, and Loran of Guide Rock; one sister, Gwen Hahn of Buhl, Idaho; three brothers, Wendell Cramer of Canada, and Loyal Cramer and Kenneth Cramer, both of Buhl; 24 grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
Clara L. Berg
Kenesaw resident Clara L. (Manske) Berg, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, at Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kenesaw with the Rev. Ronald Krause officiating. Burial will be in Kenesaw Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in Kenesaw.
Mrs. Berg was born Dec. 14, 1915, to Herman and Elizabeth (Kranau) Manske on a farm near Ayr. She graduated from Ayr High School. She worked for the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings. On Feb. 10, 1951, she married Herbert E. Berg in Grand Island. They moved to Kenesaw. Her husband died July 9, 1976.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She also was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the family's choice.
Leo 'Kippy' Brown
Hastings resident Leo "Kippy" Brown, 67, of No. 70 Kingston Drive died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. David L. Speicher officiating. His remains were donated to medical science. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Brown was born Dec. 7, 1928, to Dwight D. and Catherine (Brown) Brown in LaCrosse, Wis. On May 21, 1954, he married Wilma Fisher-Irons in Lincoln. He was an electroplater at Lincoln Plating Co. in Lincoln for 15 years. He was an over-the-road truck driver until 1978. In 1968, they moved to Hastings.
He was a member of Church of the Nazarene, and a charter member of the CB Club in Hastings.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Dale and Ty, both of Hastings, and J.D. of Aurora, Colo.; three daughters, Barbara Jones of Walton and Deb Blunt and Georgia Whitely, both of Hastings; one sister, Bertha Olson of Blair, Wis.; two brothers, Melvin Brown of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Ira Brown of Onalaska, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Henry S. Grothen
Rural Juniata resident Henry S. Grothen, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Harold Stromer officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until services Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings. The family will be present from 7-9 p.m. today.
Mr. Grothen was born Oct. 23, 1907, to Conrad and Katharina Emilie (Gross) Grothen in Juniata. On Aug. 8, 1931, he married Bertha Koepp. He farmed in the Juniata area. He was a member of the Juniata Co-op.
He was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hastings and a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Darrel of Cincinnati and Roger of New Oxford, Pa.; one sister, Flora Holbrock of Hastings; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Helen F. Hansen
Hastings resident Helen F. (Rutt) Hansen, 86, of 133 E. Park St. died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Duane Nyce officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hansen was born Feb. 14, 1909, to Frank and Mabel (Adler) Rutt in Campbell. On Dec. 26, 1930, she married Lowell Hansen. He died Nov. 6, 1989. She moved to Hastings 50 years ago. She retired from Holcomb Hatchery.
She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, National Hikers Club and Rock Club.
Survivors are four sisters, Hattie Tolle, Elsie Stark and Ruby Lightner, all of Hastings, and Arlene Siebrass of Everett, Wash.; one brother, Richard Rutt of Everett; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers.

Elmer R. Monson
Hastings resident Elmer R. Monson, 97, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1995, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Saronville Lutheran Cemetery at Saronville. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Monson was born Sept. 20, 1898, to John A. and Hattie (Holmquist) Monson in Saronville. In June 1923, he married Gladys Johnson. She died in July 1978. On May 22, 1980, he married Lillie D. Ernsting. He farmed in the Clay Center area for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a past member of Saronville Lutheran Church in Saronville.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Gwen Cooper of Beatrice and Norma Groteleuschen of East Moline, Ill.; two sons, Donald of Norfolk and Warren of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one brother, Harold of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two sons, four sisters and six brothers.

Charles 'Cliff' Robertshaw
Former Trumbull resident Charles "Cliff" Robertshaw, 78, of Giltner died Sunday, Dec. 17, 1995, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings. Burial will be in Case Cemetery at Giltner.
Mr. Robertshaw was born Feb. 8, 1917, to Albert and Mabelle (Whitworth) Robertshaw in Trumbull. He graduated from Giltner High School in 1934. On Aug. 17, 1941, he married Eva Dangler in Trumbull. They lived in the Trumbull and Giltner areas. He owned and operated Cliff's Service in Giltner for 32 years, retiring in January 1986. He also drove a bus for Giltner Public School for more than 15 years. His wife died in February 1993.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Giltner and Masonic Keystone Lodge No. 62.
Survivors are three daughters, Kaye Schuyler of Grand Island, Una Robertshaw of Orange, Calif., and Dianne Treptow of Midland, Mich.; one son, Richard of St. Louis; one brother, William of Giltner; and three grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Craig.

Wayne L. Snyder
Hastings resident Wayne L. Snyder, 72, of 714 Circle B died Sunday, Dec. 17, 1995, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. W.C. Westman officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens north of Hastings.
Mr. Snyder was born Aug. 21, 1923, to Frances and Nellie (Green) Snyder in Manilla, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-46. He was the chief of police in Denison, Iowa, for 13 years. He was an independent insurance salesman until retiring. On Dec. 27, 1975, he married LaVerda Heltenberg.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post No. 1346, both of Hastings.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Diania Reggley of Leeburg, Va., and Jeanette Noel of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; two stepsons, John Peisiger of Alda and Gary Peisiger of Juniata; two sisters, Beulah Jensen of Elk Horn, Iowa, and Dorothy Kruse of Montrey Park, Calif.; two grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Laura L. Maddox
Former Hastings resident Laura (Lienhart) Maddox, 92, of Newport Beach, Calif., died Saturday, Dec. 2, 1995, at a nursing home in Newport Beach.
Services were Dec. 5 at Lewis Colonial Mortuary Chapel in San Diego with the Rev. George Davis officiating. Burial was in Cypress View Mausoleum. Lewis Colonial/Benbough Mortuary of San Diego was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Maddox was born Jan. 9, 1903, in Norman. She attended high school and college in Hastings. On Jan. 22, 1921, she married Robert L. Maddox in Lincoln. They moved to San Diego from Holdrege. They owned a dry cleaning and laundry. After retiring they lived on a ranch east of San Diego at Campo, Calif. They later moved to Santee, Calif. After her husband's death in 1990, she moved to Huntington Beach, Calif.
She was active in auxiliaries of their business operation in San Diego. Survivors are three sons, Dexter A. of Huntington Beach, Rex A. of Alexandria, Va., and Max A. of Noble, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Grace M. Abrahamson
Minden resident Grace Madeline (Hennon) Banner Abrahamson, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1995, in Minden. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenn E. Kent and Son Funeral Home chapel in Green City, Mo. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery east of Green City. Mrs. Abrahamson was born July 25, 1907, to Albert Monroe and Anna Emmaline (Frazier) Hennon near Milan, Mo. She attended rural schools in Sullivan County, Mo., and attended one year of high school in Milan. On May 19, 1928, she married Daniel Webster Banner. They lived on farms in Sullivan County, settling near Boynton, Mo. She was employed by several cafes and later with a hospital in Milan. She later transferred to the new Sullivan County Memorial Hospital during which time she earned her licensed practical nurse certificate. Her husband preceded her in death. On Oct. 22, 1972, she married Lawrence F. Abrahamson in Axtell. He also preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church at Axtell. Survivors are three sons, Wendolin Dea Banner of Green City, Joe Keith Banner of Milan and David Monroe Banner of Minden; two daughters, Kassie Jean Smiley of Unionville, Mo., and Carole Ricard of Detroit; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, including an infant brother, and two grandchildren.
Thaddeus J. `Ted' Mack
Former Hastings resident Brother Thaddeus J. "Ted" Mack, O.S.C., 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1995, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Grand Island. Wake services are 7:30 p.m. Friday and services are 10 a.m. Saturday, both at Crosier Monastery in Hastings with the Rev. James G. Moeglein officiating. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the monastery. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements. Brother Mack was born March 6, 1921, to Stanley and Sophie (Bukanski) Maciuszek in Chicago. He graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago in 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-46. He was a barber in Chicago before joining the Crosier Order in 1962. He made his Profession as a Crosier Brother in Hastings Aug. 28, 1963. He was a cook in Hastings, Syracuse, Ind., Rome, Italy, and Fort Wayne, Ind. In 1990, he moved to Genoa Haven Home in Genoa. After suffering a stroke Oct. 11, he was hospitalized at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Grand Island. Survivors are one sister, Stephanie Gorski of Chicago; and five brothers, John, Edward, Bruno "Raymond," Richard and Eugene, all of Chicago. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Memorials may be given to Crosier Fathers and Brothers of Hastings.
