Wyonna 'Wyn' Neff
Hastings resident Wyonna "Wyn" (Hill) Neff, 74, of 1800 Boyce St., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Sam Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Neff was born March 12, 1925, to John and Violet (Pearson) Hill in Trumbull. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School. She was employed by the Naval Ammunition Depot near Hastings during World War II. On Jan. 2, 1945, she married Fritz Neff. She worked at Harry Hartwig CPA firm as a bookkeeper and then at Huebner Distributing Co. as a bookkeeper, both in Hastings. She also worked at the county attorney's office as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1987 from Hastings Regional Center as a purchasing agent. On Oct. 9, 1996, her husband died.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the BPO Does of Hastings and was a volunteer at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Survivors are three daughters, Pam Brehm, Connie Kramer and Nancy Horsham, all of Hastings; her mother of Hastings; two sisters, Rosemarie Peister of Colorado and Sharon Warembourg of Aurora, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Larry; her father; and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or the Elks Club.
Venus L. Scholl
Mankato, Kan., resident Venus LaVon (Wilkinson) Scholl, 75, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Mitchell County Community Hospital in Beloit, Kan.
Vigil services are 7 p.m. Wednesday and services are 11 a.m. Thursday, both at Melby Mortuary chapel in Mankato with the Rev. Henry Baxa officiating. Graveside services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Mount St. Joseph's Cemetery in Abeline, Kan. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Scholl was born Oct. 2, 1924, to Luther and Grace (Arnold) Wilkinson in Springfield, Iowa. On March 6, 1985, she married John Scholl in Eugene, Ore.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Judy Hoffman of Salina, Kan., and Ava Becker of Omaha; one son, Douglas Fanning of Kansas City, Mo.; one stepson, J.D. Scholl of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Raymond of Virginia; two sisters, Emma Reams of Salem, Ore., and Doris Polich of Ackley, Iowa; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Rae Fanning.
Memorials in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe, Kan.
Edna Masters
Burr Oak, Kan., resident Edna Masters, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Jewell County Hospital Long-term Care in Mankato, Kan.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Burr Oak with the Rev. Laura Fricker officiating. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Melby Mortuary in Mankato.
Miss Masters was born Dec. 29, 1915, to Edward B. and Etta (Newlin) Masters in Burr Oak. She graduated from high school in Burr Oak and from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan., in 1939. She taught English at schools in Republic, Kan., Mankato, Beloit, Kan., and Burr Oak before retiring after 39 years.
She was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Sororiety, Nebraska Retired Teachers Association, Rebbeca Lodge and Kansas Authors Club.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Violet M. Lawson
Former Nuckolls County resident Violet May Lawson, 81, of Wichita, Kan., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Wichita.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Chapel in Wichita. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Cemetery in rural Superior with the Rev. Harold Backus officiating. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Lawson was born May 26, 1918, in Nuckolls County. She was a retired machinist from Coleman Co.
Survivors are three sisters, Ruth Suhler of Wichita, Neva Nielsen of Superior and Erma Wachtin of Concorde, Calif.
Albert O. Borm
Brady resident Albert O. Borm, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Brady.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Steve Berke officiating. Burial will be in the Gaslin Cemetery near Brady. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Blase Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Gothenburg.
Survivors are one son; four daughters, including Carol Rose of Edgar; two sisters; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Lisa S. Schnase-Wampole
St. Libory resident Lisa S. Schnase-Wampole, 30, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. John Kunze officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. The remains were cremated. There is no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schnase-Wampole's father, Gary Schnase, is formerly of Hastings.
Tommy Stoughton
Hastings resident Tommy Stoughton, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are pending with Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings.
Sister Jean Marie Callahan
Former Hastings resident Sister Jean Marie Callahan, O.P., 87, of St. Catharine, Ky., died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at University Hospital of Louisville, Ky., from injuries sustained in a car accident Feb. 24 in Loretto, Ky.
Wake services are 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Catharine Hall on the grounds of St. Catharine Motherhouse. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catharine Hall.
Sister Callahan joined the Dominicans of St. Catharine in 1934. She served as academic dean and president of St. Catharine College in Springfield, Ky., from 1955-67. Most recently, she served as an assistant development officer at the college. She served as principal of St. Cecilia High School in Hastings from 1967-72. She then was elected to the Governing Board of the Dominicans of St. Catharine, serving until 1980. From 1976-1984, she was principal of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and St. Vincent de Paul School in Louisville, Ky. From 1987-89, she was principal of St. Mel School in Glouchester, Mass.
In 1992, she received the Veritas Award from St. Catharine College.
Survivors are one sister, Sister Suzanne Callahan, O.P., of St. Catharine; and two brothers, Thomas V. Callahan of Louisville, Ky., and Lawrence A. of Washington, D.C.

Hermona 'Mona' Martini
Former Hastings resident Hermona 'Mona' G. (Aspegren) Martini, 84, of Ashland, Ore., died Monday, March 6, 2000, at her daughter's home in Ashland.
Memorial services are 3 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland with the Rev. John Minor officiating.
Mrs. Martini was born Feb. 28, 1916, to Herman and Amy Aspegren at Hastings. She grew up in Hastings, graduating from Hasting Senior High School. She moved to California in the 1940s. On Nov. 6, 1936, she married John D. Martini. He preceded her in death. She moved from Sioux Falls, S.D., to Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1941. She lived in Hollywood, Studio City and Northridge, all in California, before moving to Ashland in 1984.
She was a member of All Saints Church in Beverly Hills, Calif., and Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland.
Survivor is one daughter, Monyeen Wilkey of Ashland; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Thera D. Haskin
Former Hastings resident Thera D. (Dolph) Haskin, 92, of Minneapolis died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, in Minneapolis.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Hastings. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Werness Brothers Funeral Home in Minneapolis is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Haskin was born Aug. 31, 1907, to Everett and Dorothy (Rhodes) Dolph at Correctionville, Iowa. She graduated from Central High School in Omaha. On Jan. 20, 1931, she married Evert Haskin in Omaha. They lived near Minneapolis until her husband retired in 1968, and then moved into Hastings. Her husband died in 1994. She then moved to The Kensington, where she lived until moving to Minneapolis in 1998.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Hastings and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She also was a member of Lake Harriet Christian Church in Minneapolis. She was active in the Adams County Historical Society, Community Concert Association and the YWCA, all in Hastings.
Survivors are one daughter, Barbara Nelson of Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Richard of Atlanta and Robert of Minneapolis; one sister, Amber Kish of California; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Hastings.
Eda N. Lake
Former Superior resident Eda N. (Christensen) Lake, 93, of Ogallala died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
Graveside services are 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Superior with the Rev. Harold Backus officiating. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior.
Mrs. Lake was born June 3, 1906, to Peter and Andrea (Nielsen) Christensen near Aurora. She attended School District 1 until moving with her family to Hordville where she attended School District 18. She then attended School District 100 before leaving with her family for Denmark for several months. They returned to Nebraska where she went to School District 51 and graduated from Hampton High School. She worked as a housekeeper for a year in Aurora. She earned a teacher's certificate from York College and taught at School District 27 for a year. She also taught at School District 100 for a year, Hordville for three years, Chapman for four years and Nora for two years. On June 4, 1929, she married Harley Lake in Kronberg. They lived in Superior where she assisted her husband with his produce business and had an Avon route. On Oct. 14, 1954, her husband died. She worked at a drug store before becoming county superintendent of schools for two years. She then taught at South Ward in Superior until she was 65. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1966 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 1971 she retired and moved to Lincoln where she lived for 25 years. She moved to Ogallala in May 1995.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Lincoln and taught Sunday School classes. She was a Boy Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader. She was a member and former past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge, a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Retired Teachers Organization and the Danish Sisterhood.
Survivors are one son, Steven of Ogallala; one brother, Herluf of Marquette; one sister, Eva Johnston of Lincoln; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church Sunday School in Kronberg.
Jack Prentiss
Fairmont resident Jack Prentiss, 60, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Gary Divine officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery in Ruskin. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Prentiss was born Oct. 29, 1939, to Hardy Avery and Nina M. (Allen) Prentiss in Leaksville, Miss. He graduated from high school and attended college for three years. On Oct. 14, 1967, he married Judie Sykes in Nora. He was a truck driver for Schulz Transfer in Seward. He had lived in Fairmont for the last three years.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Jack Jr. of Leaksville and Russell of Polk; one daughter, Theresa Prentiss of Decatur; four sisters, Jessie Hicks of Simms, Ala., Vesta Marie Brewer of Leaksville, Reba Divine of Moore, Okla., and Elizabeth McMillan of Freeport, Fla.; two brothers, Russell and Donald H., both of Leaksville; and three grandchildren.
Memorials have been established and may be sent in care of the family.
Lillian V. Farm
Former Upland resident Lillian V. (Farm) Farm, 93, of Wilcox died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at the Kearney County Health Services Hospital in Minden.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Wilcox Methodist church with the Revs. Warren K. and Jean B. Alnor officiating. Burial will be in the Wilcox Cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. today at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Farm was born July 14, 1906, to D.P. and Johanna (Uphoff) Farm in Upland. She grew up in the Upland area. On Aug. 2, 1929, she married Wesley W. Farm in Franklin. They lived on a farm near Wilcox until 1968 when they moved into town. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Wilcox Methodist Church and an extension club in Wilcox.
Survivors are one daughter, June Cameron of Hastings; one son, W. Allen of Minden; one sister, Lena Hall of Groton, Conn.; three grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial may be given to the Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
Mabel A. Lockard
Former Tribland area resident Mabel A. (Larsen) Lockard, 82, of Grand Island died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg with the Rev. Jack Eske officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mrs. Lockard was born Jan. 20, 1918, to Louis and Stena (Sorensen) Larsen in Minden. She lived there until 1928 when she moved with her family to Roseland. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1936. In 1938 she moved to Omaha where she worked as a bank clerk at the Home Office of Security Acceptance Corp. On Nov. 20, 1956, she married Leslie Lockard in Hastings. They moved to Columbus and then to Johnson Lake in 1962. From 1962-71 she and her husband owned the Berg Vault Co. They moved to Marquette in 1971. She spent her winters in Mesa, Ariz., from 1981-1996. In 1984 her husband died. She moved to Grand Island in 1992.
Surviving is one brother, Stanley of Hastings.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Roy S. White
Lebanon, Kan., resident Roy S. White, 65, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Esbon, Kan., with the Rev. Allen Scheer officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery in Esbon. Visitation is 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the church. Melby Mortuary of Mankato, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. White was born Aug. 26, 1934, to Roy and Madge (Reams) White in Walsenburg, Colo. On Feb. 8, 1957, he married Theresa McCoy in Fort Belvoir, Va. He served in the U.S. military in Korea. He was a laborer and worked for area farmers. He retired from Esbon Elevator in Esbon.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters, Donna Burgess of Esbon, Denise Fiene of Lebanon, Deloris Delimont of Beloit, Kan., and Joanne Sibley of Red Cloud; one son, Roy of Imperial Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Jack of Doniphan and Tom of Sutton; four sisters, Violet French of Pueblo, Colo., Gladys Kugler and Hazel Jameson, both of Franklin, and Madge Bennett of Marietta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Elsie L. Schardt
Hebron resident Elsie L. (Krenke) Schardt, 83, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in Hebron.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church-Friedensau in Hebron with the Rev. Duane Simonson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Price Funeral Home in Hebron and two hours prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Schardt was born Sept. 4, 1916, to William and Lydia (Schmidt) Krenke in rural Hebron. On Dec. 4, 1935, she married Harry G. Schardt in Hebron. They farmed in the rural Hebron area before moving to town in 1991. On Nov. 14, 1997, her husband died.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church-Friedensau.
Survivors are one son, Harlan of Hebron; two daughters, Elaine O'Neal of Hebron and Juleen Young of Hastings; one sister, Hulda Schardt of Hebron; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and one great-grandchild.
Memorials have been established to the family's choice.
Lucille Cress
Hastings resident Lucille (Black) Cress, 94, of Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Villa Grace.
Graveside services were to be 10:30 a.m. today at Hillside Cemetery in North Loup with the Rev. Melanie Adams officiating. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cress was born Sept. 9, 1905, to Clarence and Vena (Snodgrass) Black in Brock. She grew up and graduated from high school in Brock. She then moved to Lincoln and graduated from business school. She was a secretary for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln engineering department for seven years. On Aug. 12, 1927, she married Dale C. Cress in Lincoln. They lived in western Nebraska until 1936 when they moved to Lexington. She was a secretary for the First United Methodist Church there. They moved to several different communities until 1950 when they moved to Fargo, N.D. She was a manager of a beauty salon there. In 1962 they moved to Hastings. Her husband died in 1980.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the church circle and Dorcus.
Survivors are one daughter, Carol Bervig of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jerre and three brothers.
Memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Village Garden Club.
Edythe M. Lindholm
Former Tribland resident Edythe M. (Atkins) Lindholm, 91, of Arnold died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Callaway.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Arnold with the Revs. Doug Smith and Gene Purcell officiating. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Arnold Funeral Home in Arnold.
Mrs. Lindholm was born Sept. 29, 1908, to Tim and Bertha (Parker) Atkins in Bladen. The family moved to Davenport when she was 3 years old. A year later, the family moved to Luttrel, Tenn. When she was 8, she and her family returned to Davenport, where she lived until she was 16. The family then moved to Arnold, and she graduated from Arnold High School in 1927. She married Roy Lindholm. They lived in Mills Valley north of Arnold until 1940 and then moved 1 1/2 miles east of Arnold. They later moved into town. She worked for Food Center, Jack & Jill, Holub Variety Store and The Department stores in Arnold.
Survivors are two daughters, Dot Gast of Arnold and Janice Life of Hastings; one son, Douglas of Hastings; two sisters, Doris Baldwin and Alta Babcock; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Callaway Good Samaritan Center or Arnold United Methodist Church.
