Gertrude E. Dolbec
Former Bladen resident Gertrude E. (France) Dolbec, 87, of Arlington died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Hillcrest Nursing Care Center in Bellevue.
A private burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel of Bellevue is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dolbec was born Aug. 18, 1912, to Everett and Estella (Lanphear) France in Bladen. She married Floyd Dolbec. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are two sons, Gerald "Jerry" Craft of Arlington and William Craft of Maranta, Ariz.; one stepdaughter, Patricia Hagan of Lisle, Ill.; one sister, Velma Mohrlang of Portland, Ore.; one stepbrother, Richard Dolbec of San Francisco; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.

Norman W. Pieper
Davenport resident Norman W. Pieper, 79, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in Hebron.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Davenport with the Rev. John Cotton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion and VFW posts of Davenport. Visitation is noon until services on Monday at the church. Urbauer-Price Funeral Home of Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pieper was born April 9, 1920, to Wilhelm and Anna (Obermeier) Pieper in Waco. He attended school at St. John's Lutheran School in Waco. He farmed near Waco. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters. On Feb. 6, 1944, he married Esther Ruth Janssen in Wilmington, Del. He later was employed as a hospital maintenance plant engineer in Chicago.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post and VFW, all in Davenport. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the American Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Ruth Ann Guse of West Bend, Wis.; two sons, Ronald of Clarksville, Md., and Rodney of Virginia; two brothers, Elmer of York and Orville of Davenport, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Roger and one sister.
Memorials have been established.

Sylvia E. Draper
Former Tribland area resident Sylvia E. (Juranek) Draper, 89, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Manor of Malvern in Malvern, Iowa.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Cutler Funeral Home chapel in Council Bluffs. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs. Visitation is 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Draper was born Nov. 19, 1910, to Joseph Jr. and Mary (Novak) Juranek in Lawrence. She was raised in the Lawrence area. She married Donald R. Draper. She moved to California during World War II where she worked in a bomber plant. On May 10, 1961, her husband died. She worked in the cafeteria for Council Bluffs School district for 22 years and retired in 1983. From 1986-1993 she lived at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Kathy L. McKittrick of Council Bluffs; one sister, Dorothy Pope of Hastings; two brothers, Ray of Hastings and Donald of Lincoln; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Adam L. Fullerton
Adam LaVerne Fullerton, infant son of Ron and Krista (Duryea) Fullerton of Lincoln, was born and died Friday, March 3, 2000, in Lincoln.
Services were to be 1 p.m. today at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Bert Garwood officiating. Burial was to be in Evergreen Cemetery in Superior.
Survivors are his parents; two sisters; and his grandparents, including Marjean and Leonard Schroeder of Superior.

Loyd J. Gilbert
Former Lebanon, Kan., resident Loyd Joseph Gilbert, 91, of Downs, Kan., died Friday, March 3, 2000, at the Downs Nursing Center.
Services were to be 2 p.m. today at Simmons Mortuary chapel in Smith Center, Kan., with the Rev. Dave Hardy officiating. Burial was to be in Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City, Kan.
Mr. Gilbert was born Jan. 11, 1909, to Oscar and Mary (Shrader) Gilbert in Lebanon. He lived most of his life in the Lebanon area where he was a former mayor. He also was a representative for the Silver Haired Legislature. On Sept. 17, 1930, he married Lois Biggs. On Aug. 12, 1958, he married Frances Wetterhahn. She died Jan. 8, 1988. On Jan. 30, 1989, he married Martha Linehart. They lived in Lebanon and then moved to Downs.
He was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Eldon Gilbert of Downs; three stepsons, Frank Valliant of Leesburg, Fla., Terry Valliant of Atchison, Kan., and Jim Valliant of Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Laneta Karsting of Hastings and Betty Scott of Waipahu, Hawaii; two stepdaughters, Lisa Schroeder of Tipton, Kan., and Linda Adams of Irving, Texas; one sister, Nora Wolgamott of Neosho, Mo.; five grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Downs Nursing Center or Solomon Valley Hospice in Kansas.

Wilbert E. Marquart
Former Byron resident Wilbert E. Marquart, 88, of Lincoln, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Milder Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Byron with the Rev. David Nordstrom officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is until 9:30 p.m. today at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home in Belleville, Kan.
Mr. Marquart was born March 18, 1911, to Benhard and Emma (Gebers) Marquart in rural Byron. He worked as a farmer. On May 30, 1935, he married Leona M. Peters.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also served on the school board, elevator board and senior citizens board.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Virlene Grafelman and Elaine Spreier, both of Lincoln and Joanne Rutland of Warren, Texas; three brothers, Lester of Lincoln, Raymond of Superior and Oscar of Alamogordo, N.M.; two sisters, Theresa Peters and Lydia Dittmer, both of Superior; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the church.

Marjorie B. Sutton
Hebron resident Marjorie B. (Longbrake) Sutton, 78, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Hebron with the Rev. Warren Schoming officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron. Visitation begins today at 3 p.m. at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron.
Mrs. Sutton was born Sept. 17, 1921, to Neil and Ellen (Lennon) Longbrake in Hebron. She moved with her family at the age of 7 to Kentucky. She graduated from high school in Kentucky. On Feb. 18, 1944, she married Glendle "Glen" Sutton in Kentucky. During World War II she worked at airplane plants in Michigan and Indiana. They moved to Hebron in 1945. She then worked for several years as a grocery clerk in Hebron and retired in 1988. In 1991 her husband died.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Hebron Firemen's Auxiliary.
Survivors are two daughters, Phyllis Luehring of Hebron and Kathryn Sutton of Columbus; one sister, Ann White of Cleveland, Tenn.; three half-sisters, Dorthy Jenkins of Cleveland, Tenn., Daisy Mors of Prinston, Ky., and Mary Ray of Hermitage, Tenn.; one stepsister, Ladona Smurawa of Burnside, Ky.; one stepbrother, Clifton Ray of Prinston; and one stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by one stepbrother.
Memorials may be given to the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department.

Elizabeth A. Lammers
Minden resident Elizabeth A. (Nitzel) Lammers, 93, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at the Kearney County Health Services Long Term Care Unit in Minden.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Upland Cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Sunday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Lammers was born July 21, 1906, to Emil and Louisa (Scharff) Nitzel in Franklin County. She grew up in Campbell and attended Rural School District 64 near there. She also attended a parochial school near Campbell. On Feb. 20, 1930, she married Carl Lammers. They farmed in the Upland and Minden areas. In 1965 her husband died. She worked at a cafe in Minden and later at the Bethany Home in Minden. She retired in 1983.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden.
Survivors are two sons, Dennis and Leroy, both of Minden; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Leonard; two sisters; and two brothers.

Dennis D. Dyke
Minden resident Dennis D. Dyke, 59, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege.
Private family burial will be at the Minden Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Dyke was born May 28, 1940, to Charles and Doris (Bone) Dyke in Gandy. He grew up in the Arnold area and attended country school in that area. He then moved to Minden and attended Minden High School. He was married to Donna Davidson. On Sept. 29, 1967, he married Marilyn (Anderson) Ruhter. They lived in Minden. He was a custom farmer in the Minden area for several years.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, John and Jerry, both of Minden; two stepsons, Rodney Ruhter of Crete and Ron Ruhter of Waco, Texas; one daughter, Jolene Jenner of Kearney; his mother, Doris Hagadorn of Broken Bow; his stepmother, Dorothy Dyke of Kearney; two brothers, Charles "Bud" of Yuma, Colo., and James of Broken Bow; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Michael Ruhter; his father; his stepfather, Paul Hagadorn; and one brother.

Dean E. Domeier
Former Tribland area resident Dean Everett Domeier, 70, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grafton with the Rev. Michael Helwig officiating. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8 p.m. Tuesday with family present at Kohler Mortuary in Sutton.
Mr. Domeier was born June 26, 1929, to Anton L. and Mayme (Everts) Domeier in Grafton. He graduated in 1946 from Sutton High School. He then attended Wayne State College for two years. On Oct. 29, 1950, he married Deloris Unterseher in Sutton. From 1952-54 he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed for a short time and then owned and operated the Sutton Bakery for 24 years. He retired in 1988. He and his wife moved to Grand Island in 1989.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Grand Island and the American Legion Post No. 53 in Grand Island.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Deborah Meyer of Hastings and Vicki Goetz of Grand Island; two sons, Bruce and Jerry, both of Sutton; one brother, Vern of Sutton; two sisters, Delores Mick of Sutton and Florence Schroder of Grand Island; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the family.

Betty J. Larsen
Hastings resident Betty Jean (Moore) Larsen, 73, of 902 N. Baltimore Ave. died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Larsen was born Aug. 4, 1926, to Floyd E. and Florence E. (Drawbaugh) Moore in Central City. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1944. On June 9, 1945, she married Harold W. Larsen. She was owner of Betty's Beauty Salon for more than 40 years.
She was a member of the Nebraska State National Hairdresser-Cosmetologist organization and past president of the organization's Hastings Unit No. 14. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter No. 39.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Sally Sue Peck of Hastings; one son, Terry of Hastings; one sister, Patty Moore Plum of Hastings; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Fred P. Turner
Hastings resident Fred P. Turner, 88, of Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at GSV All Saints Chapel with the Rev. Walter Bye officiating. Committal will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Lincoln. Visitation is one hour prior to services Wednesday at the GSV chapel. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turner was born Oct. 12, 1911, to John W. and Hattie (Lintner) Turner in Burnham. He graduated from Seward High School. He then attended Creighton University in Omaha and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He married Veeda C. Gideon. He was a salesman for Lincoln Wholesale Drug Co. in Lincoln for 25 years and retired in 1973. He moved from Lincoln to Hastings in 1980. On Sept. 15, 1993, his wife died.
Survivors are two sons, Ralph of Edmonds, Wash., and Michael of Oakland, Calif.; and one daughter, Tamara Turner of Seattle.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Village or the donor's choice.

Norma L. Dier
Folsom, Calif., resident Norma L. Dier, 76, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, in Folsom.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Folsom. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Folsom.
Survivors are her husband; one daughter; one son; one grandchild; one foster grandchild; two brothers; and one sister, Dorothy Eldred of Hastings.

Afton E. Young
Hubbell resident Afton E. (Davidson) Young, 84, died Monday, April 10, 2000, in Seward.
Services were to be 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Hubbell with the Revs. Eldon and Mary Beth Nicholson officiating. Burial was to be in the Hubbell Cemetery. Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home of Belleville, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Young was born Oct. 17, 1915, to Harry and Emma (Mapes) Davidson in Cuba, Kan. On Nov. 26, 1936, she married Jesse G. Young. She was village clerk of Hubbell for 23 years and retired in 1992. On Dec. 22, 1993, her husband died.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Ophel Chapter No. 115 of Belleville.
Survivors are two sons, Gary R. of Hebron and Billy R. of North Bend; two daughters, Darla K. Young of Seward and Nancy A. Naysmith of Byron; one stepsister, Georgia Hamblin of Stromsberg; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Louella Shannon
Minden resident Louella (Ostman) Shannon, 92, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the Kearney County Health Services Long Term Care Unit in Minden.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Becker officiating. The remains were cremated. Private family burial will be prior to memorial services. Layton Funeral Home of Minden is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shannon was born June 20, 1907, to Lewis and Mary (Norman) Ostman in Norman. She graduated from Minden High School in 1925. On Oct. 23, 1926, she married Rubin Shannon. They farmed in the Norman area and moved into Minden in 1939. In 1960 her husband died.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden.
Survivors are three daughters, Roma Fitzgerald of Wintersville, Ohio, Charlotte Smith of Hastings and Barbara Lynn of Minden; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one sister.

JoAnn L. Konen
Rosary for Hastings resident JoAnn Lucille Konen, 67, of 1718 Apache Ave., who died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln is 7:30 p.m. Thursday and services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings with the Revs. David F. Bourek and Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery in rural Roseland. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Elizabeth T. Waldron
Former Hastings resident Elizabeth T. (Rothfuss) Waldron, 94, of Lakewood, Colo., died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Bethany Health Plex in Lakewood.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with the Rev. Judith Allen officiating. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings.
Mrs. Waldron was born Dec. 10, 1905, to Siebelt and Margaret (Lay) Rothfuss in Adams County. She attended Hastings High School. In 1927 she married Lloyd Waldron. She was a cook at Hastings High School and Central Community College-Hastings. In 1956 her husband died. She moved to Colorado in 1995.
She was a former member of First Christian Church and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings.
Survivors are three sons, Donald of Denver, LaMoine of Lees Summit, Mo., and Eldon "Wally" of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Laurana McClure of Hastings; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Richard; one brother; one stepbrother; three sisters; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Hastings.

Kenneth Walters
Geneva resident Kenneth Walters, 76, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Geneva.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Geneva with the Rev. Brian Kottas officiating. Burial will be in the Swedish Cemetery at Shickley. Visitation starts 1 p.m. Monday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mr. Walters was born June 7, 1923, to Harold and Mattie (Nicholes) Walters at Shickley. He married Cathryn K. Saum.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Elden Walters of Davenport; two stepsons, Steven Rippe and Christopher Rippe, both of Geneva; one daughter, Marlene Walters of Harvard; one stepdaughter, Holly Rippe of Geneva; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Walters family.

Marie Kenney
Franklin resident Marie Kenney, 92, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Franklin Nursing Center in Franklin.
Services are pending with Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin.
