Eunice Weingart
Former Tribland area resident Eunice (Willson) Weingart, 91, of Noblesville, Ind., died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at her home.
Services will be 2 p.m. June 3 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. Private graveside services will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Weingart was born Feb. 21, 1909, to George and Dora (Fassler) Willson in Blue Hill. She graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1927 and then from Hastings College in 1930. In June 1931, she married William Weingart. She taught school in Hastings for more than 24 years at Spencer Park and Alcott Elementary. She retired in 1974. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are two sons, Philip of Santa Ana, Calif., and David of Phoenix; one daughter, Meri Boosel of Noblesville; one sister, Mary Noftsger; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Pauline A. Wolf
Franklin resident Pauline A. (Hayes) Wolf died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Franklin Nursing Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hutchins Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with the Rev. J.C. Browne officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Franklin. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday and 8 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wolf was born to Thomas and Delta (Mason) Hayes on a farm southwest of Franklin. She attended school at District 17 and Franklin High School. She received her cosmetology license from Hastings Beauty School in Hastings. On Aug. 24, 1935, she married Olen L. Wolf in Marysville, Kan. They farmed near Franklin. In 1971 they moved into Franklin.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge No. 173, Franklin Women's Club and United Methodist Women and was a volunteer at the Senior Center.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Barbara Jean Olson of Holdrege and Jeanie Meyer of Columbus; one son, Clifford of Colton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two grandchildren.
Helen C. Uerling
Hastings resident Helen C. (Spellman) Uerling, 97, of Good Samaritan Village Villa Grace died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Rosary is 7 p.m. Tuesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings. Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings with the Rev. James J. Meysenburg officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Uerling was born May 10, 1902, to Dr. C.A. and Carrie (Schlosser) Spellman in Beatrice. She graduated from Beatrice High School and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1924. She moved to Hastings and taught kindergarten at Longfellow Elementary School for two years. On June 24, 1926, she married Charles Uerling in Lincoln. He preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1987.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. She served as past president of Chapter G P.E.O., Infant Welfare, Fortnightly Book Club and Mary Lanning Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority at UNL. She also served as an early commissioner of Girl Scouts and a secretary of the Red Cross board.
Survivors are one son, Charles C. of Hastings; one daughter, Sheila Duebbert of Fargo, N.D.; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the Hastings Community Foundation for the Infant Welfare Fund or to the church.
Kenneth F. Wendt
Former Tribland area resident Kenneth Fred Wendt, 74, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.
Private graveside services are Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings with the Rev. Bill Liddell officiating. Brand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wendt was born Feb. 11, 1926, to Fred and Mary (Hoff) Wendt in Kenesaw. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned K&D Grocery in Glenvil several years ago.
Jerome J. Kohl
Hardy resident Jerome J. Kohl, 92, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Union Church in Hardy with the Rev. Jon Albrecht officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Spring Creek Cemetery in Ruskin. Visitation is at Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until services Wednesday.
Mr. Kohl was born Nov. 2, 1907, to Wallace and Carline (Jaspersen) Kohl near Ruskin. He attended rural schools and graduated from Ruskin High School in 1927. He then attended Coyne Electric School in Chicago. On Aug. 20, 1930, he married Genevieve Thayer near Nora. He worked as a mechanic and was owner/operator of Kohl Garage in Hardy for more than 50 years.
He was a founder and member of the Union Community Church, where he taught Sunday school and confirmation. He also was a member of the Community Club, Masonic Lodge, Tehama Shrine and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors are his wife of Superior; one son, Jerome J. of Lincoln; one daughter, Nancy Grinstead of Lincoln; one sister, Myrna Kohl of North Platte; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Wallace; one brother; and one sister.
Memorials may be given in care of the family for the Good Samaritan Home in Superior.
Marie R. Kenney
Franklin resident Marie R. (Graf) Kenney, 92, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Franklin Nursing Center.
Rosary is 2 p.m. and services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bloomington with the Rev. John Birkel officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8-11 a.m. Tuesday at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Kenney was born Nov. 27, 1907, to Frank and Anna (Konsbruck) Graf in Harlan County. She attended rural school in Harlan County and graduated from Orleans High School in 1926. On March 28, 1937, she married Albert Kenney in Orleans. They operated a grocery store in Orleans until 1942. They then moved to Denver where she was a civilian employee in a defense plant. They moved to Franklin in 1966. On Aug. 30, 1974, her husband died.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She also was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
James A. Giger
Guide Rock resident James A. Giger, 59, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Guide Rock with the Rev. Anderson Kwankin officiating. Burial will be in the Guide Rock Cemetery. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Giger was born May 13, 1940, to Wilbert Milton and Lois Berneice (Reeve) Giger in Guide Rock. He graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1957. He earned a bachelor's degree in music from Kearney State Teachers College and a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. He then taught for several years at Benkelman, Ansley, Franklin, Guide Rock, Greeley, Colo., and Burr Oak, Kan. He later returned to live near Guide Rock and was employed by the Farmers Union Co-op Elevator.
Survivors are one sister, Margene Stueven of Springfield, Mo.; and one brother, Wayne of Gibbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Katherine Winkler
Juniata resident Katherine Winkler, 72, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Juniata with the Rev. Greg Volzke officiating. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Collegeville Cemetery in Saline County, Ark., with the Rev. Ken Burton officiating. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Miss Winkler was born April 16, 1928, to F.W. and Christina (Cohrt) Winkler in Alexander, Ark. She grew up in Arkansas and moved to the Prosser area in 1964. She raised her nephew, Galen Winkler.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexander and attended Christ Lutheran Church in Juniata.
Survivors are one brother, Rudy Winkler of Alexander; and one sister, Anna Neben of San Luis Obispo, Calif.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Memorials may be given to the Mary Lanning Hospice in Hastings.
Lucy M. Schneider
Heartwell resident Lucy Mary (Filbin) Schneider, 88, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. Sunday and services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell with the Rev. James O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery near Heartwell. Visitation is 3-5 pm. Sunday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Schneider was born Aug. 24, 1911, to John and Lillian (Hoban) Filbin near Heartwell. She graduated from Heartwell School in 1931. On Nov. 17, 1942, she married Eugene Schneider in Heartwell. They owned and operated the tavern in Heartwell for 15 years until retiring in 1977. In 1984 her husband died. She moved to the Mount Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney in 1998.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was a soloist for 75 years and main organist for more than 50 years. She also was a member of the church's Altar Society.
Survivors are two daughters, Mary Ann Boss of Ogallala and Peggy Simmons of Kearney; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.
Betty Frohling
Former Campbell resident Betty (Bartels) Frohling, 72, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at the Lakeview Nursing/Rehab Center in Grand Island.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Campbell Presbyterian Cemetery in Campbell. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6-8 pm. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mrs. Frohling was born Aug. 10, 1927, to Herman and Otelia (Grams) Bartels in Campbell. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1945. She then taught grades one through eight in country school west of Campbell. On Dec. 6, 1947, she married Dallas Frohling in Campbell. They lived most of their lives in Grand Island where she was employed by Dreisbach's for 16 years. She then worked at the Holiday Inn in Grand Island until 1988.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Phyllis Dreher of Lincoln and Nancy Roberts of Howells; two sons, Robert of Lincoln and Tom of Loveland, Colo.; one sister, Ruby Trambly of Hastings; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the family.
Nina L. Sorensen
Former Tribland area resident Nina L. (Haynes) Sorensen, 98, of Homestead Health Center in Lincoln died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at the center.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Matt Nieman officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sorensen was born Sept. 12, 1901, to Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Haynes in Hastings. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School and Hastings College. On June 30, 1924, she married Orville James Sorensen in Edgewater, Colo. She taught school in Juniata and managed the retail store for Debus Bakery. She moved from Hastings to Lincoln in 1989. On Jan. 10, 1990, her husband died.
She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the Nile in Hastings.
Survivors are one son, James A. of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis O'Donnell, and three brothers.
Memorials may be given to the Cedars Home for Children in Lincoln.
Bertha M. Lennemann
Former rural Naponee resident Bertha Minnie (Hoffman) Lennemann, 93, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Harlan County Hospital in Alma.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. Sunday and services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Alma with the Rev. John Birkel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Alma. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Alma.
Mrs. Lennemann was born Jan. 10, 1907, to Oliver and Eva Myrtle (Smith) Hoffman south of Naponee near Agra, Kan. She attended rural schools in Naponee and Agra and her first two years of high school in Agra and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1927. She worked at the Lovejoy Rooming House in Bloomington and later at Petry's Cafe in Alma. On Feb. 25, 1930, she married Theodore Joseph Lennemann in Alma. They lived in Alma and later moved to Orleans. In 1943 they returned to Alma where she and her husband owned and operated Lennemann's Market in 1945. They sold the business in 1966. On Dec. 9, 1995, her husband died.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
Survivors are two sons, Jerry of Phoenix and Leo of San Diego; two daughters, Charlotte Post of Naponee and Janet Conant of Houston; two brothers, Clyde of Red Cloud and Dale of Talequah, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Walter; two brothers; two sisters; and two grandsons.
A memorial has been established.
William N. Bockerman
Hastings resident William N. Bockerman, 78, of 1817 Boyce St. died today at his home.
Services are pending with Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings.
Jean L. Batt
Hastings resident Jean L. (Waterman) Batt, 70, of 1248 Arapahoe Ave. died Friday, April 21, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings with the Rev. Carl Utley officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Batt was born March 2, 1930, to Lenard and Fay (Warner) Waterman in Hastings. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1947. On Dec. 26, 1950, she married Robert J. Antonides. She graduated with distinction from Hastings College in 1951. She then taught at David City High School. On Oct. 10, 1967, she married Richard L. Batt. From 1970-89 she worked in the Hastings College administration. On Nov. 14, 1979, her husband died. She was a bookkeeper and secretary at Uerling Furniture in Hastings from 1989 until this year.
She was a former president of Altrusa International Inc. and was active in the Hastings Community Theater.
Survivors are one daughter, Pam Salano of Lincoln; three sons, Michael Antonides of Ashland, Ohio, Gregory Antonides of Peru and Kristopher Antonides of Greenfield, N.H.; three sisters, Gwen Weis of Scottsboro, Ala., and Irene Lindau and Eileen Robinson, both of Hastings; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials have been established.
Phyllis J. 'P.J.' Kimle
Former Campbell resident Phyllis Jane "P.J." Kimle, 48, of Thermopolis, Wyo., died Monday, April 24, 2000, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minden. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Thermopolis with the Rev. Joe Galligan officiating. Burial will be at Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis. Mortimore Funeral Home of Thermopolis is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kimle was born May 6, 1951, to Phil and Mary Jane Kimle in Campbell. She graduated from Campbell Public School in 1969. On Dec. 28, 1969, she married Ronald Perrie. She graduated from nursing school in Kearney in 1975 as a licensed practical nurse. In 1984 she moved to Lander, Wyo., where she was a nurse and worked in marketing for KDLY/KOVE radio station. She then moved to Thermopolis where she was chamber director for the town for two years. She moved to Casper, Wyo., and marketed medical supplies for Brown's Medical of Omaha. She later became station manager for KQLT radio and returned to Thermopolis.
Survivors are one son, James Perrie of Campbell; one daughter, Rhonda Devries of Thermopolis; her father of Thermopolis; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.

Phyllis M. Bassett
Hastings resident Phyllis M. (Brouillette) Bassett, 79, of Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Perkins.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings with the Revs. Larry Gyhra and Tom Brouillette officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bassett was born April 16, 1921, to Joseph and Natalie (Breault) Brouillette in Campbell. On May 28, 1940, she married James L. "Vern" Bassett in Hastings. She was former owner of Phyls Beauty Salon in Hastings and co-owner of the Beauty Center Salon and Merle Norman Cosmetics, both in Hastings.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She was a past member of Nebraska State and National Hairdressers and Cosmetology Association Hastings Unit No. 14.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Tom of Republican City; one daughter, Kathy Shafer of Trumbull; two sisters, Helena Miller and Augustine Consbruck, both of Hastings; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Renovation Fund.
Nellie Jenkins
Hastings resident Nellie (Andersen) Jenkins, 89, of 1023 N. Baltimore Ave., died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today and Sunday and 9 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jenkins was born March 15, 1911, to Chris and Dorothea (Clifford) Andersen in Newport. In 1928 she married Marion R. Jenkins in Clearwater. They moved from Meadow Grove to Hastings in the 1950s. She was a nurse at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital and the Hastings Regional Center. In 1972 her husband died.
She attended Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors are one daughter, June Kehn of Hastings; one brother, Bud of Grand Junction, Colo.; one sister, Alice Hieter of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles; and 11 brothers and sisters.
