Juanita C. Wince
Former Mankato, Kan., resident Juanita C. Wince, 79, of Joplin, Mo., died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at St. John's Hospital in Joplin after a sudden illness.
Services were to be 1 p.m. today at St. James United Methodist Church in Joplin with the Rev. George Wade officiating. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mankato with the Rev. Thaddeus Hinkle officiating. Melby Mortuary of Mankato is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wince was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Frontenanc, Kan. On Oct. 21, 1938, she married Harold Wince at Concordia, Kan. They lived in Mankato, later moving to Joplin.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Joplin.
Survivors are her husband; four sons, Gary Leroy of Coos Bay, Ore., Merl Harold and Ronald Obrian, both of Neosho, Mo., Richard Eugene of Exeter; three daughters, Corraine Kay Baxter of Miami, Okla., Sandra Sue York of Neosho, and Roxanna Lynn Lock of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, George Briggs of Fremont, Calif.; two sisters, Ivalee Bush of Wichita, Kan., and Mary Ellen Sykes of Janson; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Melvin O. Olson
Former Shickley resident Melvin Oscar Olson, 88, of North Platte, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Geneva. Burial will be in the Geneva Public Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Monday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home of North Platte also is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Olson was born Dec. 25, 1911, to Hjalmar and Nora (Hanson) Olson near Shickley. He graduated from Ong High School and attended Luther College. He farmed. In 1954 he married Ruth (Usher) Lebsack of Geneva. He retired from farming in 1954. He then was a deputy for Fillmore County Sheriff's Office. In 1968 he was elected sheriff and served for two terms.
Survivors are his wife; two stepdaughters, Judy Chaffee of Saugerties, N.Y., and Cynthia Donohoe of Lafayette, Calif.; one stepson, Mark Lebsack of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Lewis of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Virgil of Lincoln; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the Great Plains Hospice in North Platte, the United Methodist Church in Geneva and Stockholm Lutheran Church in Shickley.
Ada Patton
Superior resident Ada (Powers) Patton, 87, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Williams Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Paul Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in Republic County, Kan.
Mrs. Patton was born Dec. 15, 1912, to James and Stella (VanNortwick) Powers in Republic, Kan. On March 4, 1931, she married Eugene Patton. They lived in several locations before 1954 when they moved to Whittier, Calif. She was a child-care provider for 21 years. Her husband died in 1981. In 1995 she moved to Superior.
Survivors are one daughter, Dixie Whitney of Superior; one son, Jim of Norwalk, Calif.; two sisters, Amy McCutcheon of Superior and Alice Green of Denison, Texas; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis; two sisters; and one brother.
Rebecca L. Tracy
Hebron resident Rebecca L. Tracy, 17, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, from a motor vehicle accident near Hebron.
Prayer service is 7 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Hebron. Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. John R. Walton officiating. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Home in Hebron and 1 p.m. until services Sunday at the church.
Miss Tracy was born May 22, 1983, to Wesley and Judy Tracy in Hebron. She was a sophomore at Hebron High School, where she was a member of the track team and band.
She was a member of First Christian Church and Girl Scouts.
Survivors are her parents of Hebron; one brother, Richard of Lincoln; one sister, Rachelle Myers of Norfolk; and three grandparents, Robert W. and Nellie Beavers of Hebron and Iona Tracy of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by one grandfather.

Laura A. Kimle
Hastings resident Laura Anna Kimle, 94, of Good Samaritan Village Goldbeck Towers, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at GSV Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at GSV All Saints Chapel. Burial will be in the Juniata Cemetery. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Dennis Garman
Burr Oak, Kan., resident Dennis Garman, 53, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Jewell County Hospital in Mankato, Kan.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Olive Hill Community Church in Jewell County, Kan., with the Rev. Lester Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Garman was born Jan. 16, 1947, to Lynn and Edena (Eakins) Garman in Superior. He grew up on a farm near Burr Oak and graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1966. He worked on the farm and did custom harvesting during the summers. On Aug. 14, 1966, he married Gloria Boyles in Jewell County. He graduated from Salina Vocation Technical school in Kansas as a draftsman. He was a draftsman for Chapman Engineers in Salina. He then moved to Glen Elder, Kan., where he was employed by Richardson Manufacturing in Cawker City, Kan. He returned to Burr Oak and purchased a farm in 1973. In 1998 he and his wife moved into Burr Oak. He worked for several years at soil conservation for Natural Resources Conservation Service in Jewell County.
He was a member of Olive Hill Community Church where he was a trustee, deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He also served on the White Rock School Board.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Darin of Salina; his mother of Concordia, Kan.; his father and stepmother, Lyda of Superior; and six sisters.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory, and one brother.
John J. Billesbach
Hastings resident John J. Billesbach, 77, of 811 E. Third St. died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. today at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings with the Rev. Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Billesbach was born Sept. 7, 1922, to Fredrick and Isabelle (Porterfield) Billesbach in Heartwell. He graduated from Heartwell High School in 1941. He lived and worked in California until 1945 when he moved to Hastings. On June 3, 1947, he married Antoinette "Toni" Portz at Assumption. He worked for Dutton-Lainson Co. in Hastings for 42 years.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Dianne Kirk and Julie Kay Schumm, both of Hastings, and Barbara Lapensky of Bloomington, Minn.; one son, Douglas of Hastings; three sisters, Sister Rose Rita O.S.F. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Faye Lockhart of La Vista and Edna Fingeret of Hastings; three brothers, Louis of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Leo of Beatrice and Cletus of Belton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dan, and three brothers.
Memorials may be given to the Hastings Catholic Schools or the American Heart Association.
Wauneta L. (Finnigsmier) Uden
Kenesaw resident Wauneta L. (Finnigsmier) Uden, 84, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at the Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kenesaw with the Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in Kenesaw and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Uden was born March 9, 1916, to Martin and Emma (Meyer) Finnigsmier in Kenesaw. She attended District 70 school, St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Kenesaw Public School in 1933. On March 31, 1940, she married Lawrence J. Uden.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and the Fellowship League.
Survivors are her husband; three daughters, Charlotte Burr of Juniata, Rosie Schroeder of Kenesaw and Alice Goodman of Spring Hill, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Taylor of Hastings and Dorothy Uden of Kenesaw; two brothers, Gilbert and Dale, both of Kenesaw; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the church or the Alzheimer's Association.
Lamar William Diehl
Superior resident Lamar William Diehl, 83, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Mark Diehl officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Superior. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Diehl was born Feb. 20, 1917, to Roy and Gladys (Payne) Diehl near Guide Rock. He graduated from Superior High School in 1936. On Dec. 6, 1937, he married Luella Celestia Beaman. From 1944-46 he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as storekeeper in the American area and Asiatic Pacific. He was a store supervisor for Ideal Cement Co. in Superior. On Jan. 7, 1991, his wife died.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion St. Mihel Post, both in Superior. He also received the Victory Medal.
Survivors are six sons, Richard of Scurry, Texas, Harold of Fairfield, Calif., Donald of Blue Springs, Dennis of Fort Worth, Texas, Stephen of Superior and Gerald of Hays, Kan.; one daughter, Bonnie Crosby of Austin, Texas; one brother, Melvin of Superior; three sisters, Ila Mellott and Shirley Jorgenson, both of Superior, and Dorothy June Jacoby of Salida, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one grandchild.

Dean H. Hager
Former Bloomington resident Dean H. Hager, 69, of Scott City, Kan., died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Hutchins Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with the Rev. J.C. Browne officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hager was born April 18, 1931, to Donald and Verda A. (Strickert) Hager near Bloomington. He attended Lone Star District 50 school and Wilcox High School. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1949. He then attended electronics technical school in Treasure Island, Calif. He was a certified life insurance salesman for Modern Woodmen of America. Later, he was an electronics technician and installed and serviced satellite dishes. From 1952-56 he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In 1958 he moved to Scott City. On Oct. 27, 1962, he married Detta Snyder. They later divorced.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Scott City. He also was a Little League coach and manager and produced the Scott County Easter Pageant for several years.
Survivors are two sons, Don of Bartonville, Ill., and Mark of Silver Spring, Md.; two brothers, Larry of Topeka, Kan., and Frank Hager of Las Vegas, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
Willis Allen Heidemann
Holdrege resident Willis Allen Heidemann, 72, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Methodist Memorial Homes in Holdrege.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Jeremy Jacoby officiating. Burial will be in Freewater Cemetery southwest of Wilcox. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home of Wilcox.
Survivors are his wife; one son; four stepsons, including Gary DeJonge and Randall DeJonge, both of Bloomington, and Donald DeJonge of Macon; two stepdaughters; six sisters; 11 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Raymond D. Deeter
Hastings resident Raymond D. Deeter, 87, of The Kensington died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Baker-Hazel Funeral Home in Dayton, Ohio, with the Rev. Katharine Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Willowview Cemetery in Dayton. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Deeter was born Jan. 14, 1913, to Herbert and Treva Enid (DeMond) Deeter in Dayton. He was an accounting manager for Dayton Power & Light Co. in Dayton for 46 years. He retired in 1975 and moved to Hastings in 1997.
He attended First Presbyterian Church in Hastings.
Survivors are one daughter, Mary Lewis of Hastings; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Paul Juggert
Hastings resident Paul Juggert, 82, of 511 E. Second St. died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Juggert was born April 29, 1918, to George and Mabel (Bruntz) Juggert in Hastings. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School. From 1941-45 he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as part of the Aleutian Island Campaign for 23 months. On July 5, 1941, he married Rosemary Smith in Hastings. He worked for Dutton-Lainson Co. in Hastings for 38 years. On Jan. 2, 1990, his wife died.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings.
Survivors are three daughters, Sharon Karsting of Crestline, Calif., Janet Clanfaglione of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mary Wataha of Manhattan, Kan.; one son, Paul of Hastings; three sisters, Hannah Miller of Kenesaw, Amelia Upton of El Monte, Calif., and Lydia Watkins of Paradise, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Irwin 'Irv' Mobley
Former Hastings resident Irwin "Irv" Mobley, 84, of Roseburg, Ore., died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at a Roseburg hospital.
Services were April 25 at First United Methodist Church in Roseburg with the Rev. Dr. Robert Flaherty officiating. Roseburg Funeral Alternatives of Roseburg was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mobley was born April 16, 1916, to Dall and Eva (West) Mobley in Blencoe, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army. On April 28, 1973, he married Beverly Caswell. He was an appraiser in the Adams County Assessor's Office in Hastings. He retired in 1988 and moved to Roseburg.
He was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church, Tehama Shrine, York Rite, American Legion, Elks Club, Optimist Club and the Knights of Pythias, all in Hastings.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Janet Oberg of Ceresco, Prudy McGhehey and Carol Beach, both of Roseburg; one son, Kermit of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Lois Rock of Blencoe and Irma Rock of West Des Moines, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Dahlkoetter
Columbus resident Mary E. (Devine) Dahlkoetter, 72, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Louis E. Bialas
Fullerton resident Louis E. Bialas, 83, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.

Lavern Beiriger
Former Juniata resident Lavern Beiriger, 91, of Holdrege died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Methodist Memorial Homes in Holdrege.
Rosary is 9:30 a.m. and services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church n Holdrege with the Rev. John Zastrow officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Mr. Beiriger was born Feb. 14, 1909, to Charles and Mary (Huffman) Beiriger in Juniata. He grew up in Juniata and attended Assumption Catholic School near Roseland. He worked for area farmers and served as a seasonal worker in Iowa, Colorado and Oklahoma before farming near Loomis. On Jan. 9, 1940, he married Marie Elizabeth Sigl in Okarche, Okla. They lived on the farm near Loomis until moving to a farm near Holdrege. In 1952 they moved to Harlan County where he farmed until retirement in 1973. He and his wife then moved to Holdrege. He was a Pinkerton security guard for Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege and a jail guard for the Phelps County Sheriff's Association. He also assisted with some commercial and residential building projects in Holdrege.
He was a member of All Saint's Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and Kiwanis Club.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Bill of Holdrege; three daughters, Mary Hammond and Rose Anderson, both of Holdrege, and Patricia Carter of San Marcus, Calif.; four sisters, Florence Beiriger and Irene Miller, both of Hastings, Doris Weber of Oak Lawn, Ill., and Pearl Briant of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Linus of Aurora, Ill., Irvin and Gerald, both of Hastings, and Richard of Concord, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
A memorial has been established.
Hugh N. Farnham
Former Hastings resident Hugh Norman Farnham, 86, of Holdrege died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Methodist Homes in Holdrege.
Private graveside services will be at a later date. There is no visitation. Nelson-Harris Funeral Home of Holdrege is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Farnham was born July 29, 1913, to George C. and Edith L. (Parsons) Farnham in Cawker City, Kan. He moved with his family when he was 5 years old to Holdrege. On June 20, 1937, he married Effie Weiniger in Holdrege. In 1966 they moved to Grand Island where they lived for 11 years. He and his wife moved to Hastings in 1977.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Norman of Martell; one daughter, Linda Lewis of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the University of Nebraska Foundation in memory of Hugh Farnham for Alzheimer's research.
Ed Haase
Former Hastings resident Ed Haase, 66, of Carrollton, Texas, died Monday, May 1, 2000.
Services were to be noon today at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, Texas. Graveside services with military rites are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Parkview Cemetery in Hasting with the Rev. Christopher Kubat officiating. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haase was born June 26, 1933, to Ed and Florence (White) Haase in Hastings. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School and attended Hastings College for two years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. In 1954 he married Pat Martin in Hastings. He worked in industrial sales and management before retirement.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Wes of Plano, Texas, and Andy of McKinney, Texas; his mother of Hastings; one brother, Don of Lincoln; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
