Herbert O. Pedersen
Hardy resident Herbert O. Pedersen, 89, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Union Church in Hardy with the Rev. Bob Kraus officiating. Burial will be in the Hardy Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pedersen was born Aug. 20, 1910, to Peter A. and Gertie C. (Sorensen) Pedersen near Hardy. He attended Moran Country School District 83 in Nuckolls County and graduated from Hardy High School in 1929. He then worked as an apprentice carpenter with Walter and Andrew Sommers in Hardy. On Feb. 17, 1935, he married Alice M. Kuper near Superior. He was a foreman with Civilian Conservation Corps Camp and was involved in construction of the Fairmont Air Base. He and his wife moved to Fairbury where he was a carpenter. In 1943 they moved to Hardy where he owned and operated Pedersen Lumber and a construction business for 34 years. He sold his business and retired in 1977. On Oct. 11, 1976, his wife died. He married Marian (Huebner) Clark in 1978. He and his wife spent their winters in Arizona.
He was a member of the Hardy Union Church and served in the church council. He also was a Hardy village board member and served as mayor of Hardy. He was a past exalted ruler and charter member of Elks Lodge No. 2197, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 121 A.F. & A.M. and Order of the Eastern Star Olive Chapter No. 63, all in Superior.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Dean L. of Nelson; one daughter, Marjorie Blair of Hardy; two sisters, Fern Miller of Hardy and Merle Tomlinson of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn and two brothers.
William J. Frost
Red Cloud resident William J. Frost, 60, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Esbon, Kan., with the Rev. Laura Beth Fricker officiating. Burial will be in the Esbon Cemetery. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Frost was born March 26, 1940, to Clair and Jane (Koch) Frost in Lebanon, Kan. He graduated in 1958 from Esbon High School. From 1959-61 he served in the U.S. Army. He then attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., and earned a bachelor's degree in geology. On July 18, 1964, he married Janet Sue Alcorn in Ionia, Kan. They lived in Smith Center, Kan., until 1967. They moved to Emporia, Kan., where he worked as a geologist. In 1970 he moved to Esbon to the family farm. He began working for Malcom Flying Services in Mankato, Kan., in the early 1970s as an agricultural pilot. In 1995 he moved to Red Cloud where he owned and operated Frost Flying Service. On Aug. 25, 1997, his wife died.
He was a member of the Superior Elks Lodge, National Rifle Association, National Agricultural Aviation Association, National Air Transportation Association and Kansas Aerial Applicators Association.
Survivors are one daughter, Jill Frost of Manhattan, Kan.; three sons, William Jr. of Wichita, Kan., Jack of Esbon and Michael of Manhattan, Kan.; his mother of Esbon; two sisters, Sharon Broeckelman of Esbon and Jerry Gardner of Smith Center; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Teresa M. Jeffries
Superior resident Teresa M. (Herron) Jeffries, 42, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Christopher Kubat officiating. Burial will be in the Juniata Cemetery. Visitation with the family present is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jeffries was born July 3, 1958, to Marlyn and Angeline (Braunagel) Herron in Yakima, Wash. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School. She married Bobby Daniels. He preceded her in death. She moved from Blue Rapids, Kan., to Superior two years ago.
Survivors are one daughter, Angela Daniels of Blue Hill; her father of Holbrook; one sister, Paula Fahnholz of Holbrook; and three brothers, Arthur of Lexington, S.C., Jim of Juniata and Joe of Holbrook.
She also was preceded in death by her mother; two sisters; and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the Angela Daniels Education Fund.
Wesley Warner
Minden resident Wesley Warner, 66, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Phelps County Memorial Hospital in Holdrege.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8 p.m. today at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Warner was born April 23, 1924, to Louis and Alta (Meyers) Warner in Kearney. He grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School. On Dec. 4, 1955, he married Jean Orcutt. They lived in Minden. From 1956-58 he served in the U.S. Army. He then worked for Nelson Motor's in Kearney in the body shop. He also worked at Fitzsimmons Furniture and Grayson Tool, both in Minden. He was a self employed antique auto restoration specialist for the past 25 years. In 1998 his wife died.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Minden American Legion Post No. 94.
Survivors are one daughter, Cindy Burney of St. Joseph, Mo.; his father of Minden; and one brother, Al of Westminster, Colo.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dean and his mother.
Dale R. Ernst
Former Kenesaw resident Dale R. Ernst, 72, of Omaha, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation is noon to 6 p.m. Sunday with family present from 3-6 p.m. at Crosby Swanson Funeral Home in Omaha.
Mr. Ernst was born March 22, 1928, to Wilfred and Eleanor (Powers) Ernst in Kenesaw. He married Bonnie Carlson.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Steve of Ponca City, Okla., and Roger of Omaha; one daughter, Linda Ernst of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
Joan M. Mohlman
Geneva resident Joan Maxine (Weseman) Mohlman, 66, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Lincoln.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva with the Rev. Michael Osberg officiating. Burial is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Blue Hill Cemetery. Visitation began at 11 a.m. today at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mrs. Mohlman was born Sept. 1, 1933, to Emanuel and Lola (Godding) Weseman in Juanita.
Survivors are one son, Ray of Geneva; two daughters, Esther Geiger of York and Linda Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Rex of Juniata and Dale of Hastings; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Opal Nolan
Minden resident Opal (Tomlin) Nolan, 86, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the Bethany Home in Minden.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Cambridge Cemetery. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Sunday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mrs. Nolan was born Jan. 25, 1914, to Charles and Hazel (Nelson) Tomlin in Holbrook. She grew up and attended school in Holbrook. On Feb. 7, 1934, she married Pleas Nolan. They lived in the Holbrook area until 1939 when they moved to Oklahoma City. In 1948 they moved to Indianola where she opened her own restaurant. She later sold the restaurant and was a cook for Red Willow School. She then worked for S&H Green Stamps at DeGroff's in McCook until her retirement. She and her husband moved to Minden in 1987. In 1989 her husband died. She moved to Bethany Home in 1996.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden.
Survivors are one daughter, Kathy Jorgensen of Orange County, Calif.; one son, Jim of Minden; two sisters, Lee Blackman of Indianola and Joan Laird of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Charles of Osceola and Ken of Bartley; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers.
Dorothy Pomeroy
Former Hastings resident Dorothy (Stobbe) Lewton Pomeroy, 72, of Clive, Iowa, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at her home.
Services were June 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines, Iowa. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Westover Funeral Home of Des Moines was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pomeroy was born Oct. 7, 1927, to Domonic and Theresa (Robleski) Stobbe in Ashton. She worked as a beautician. She married Harold Lewton. He preceded her in death. She lived in Hastings and moved to Des Moines in 1954. She married Robert Pomeroy.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the Franciscans, 76 Dance Club and Couples Club. She also was an election volunteer for more than 30 years.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Ginger Sirianni of Indianola, Iowa, and Laurie Schmillen of Cottage Grove, Minn.; five sons, Steve Lewton of Davenport, Iowa, Scot Lewton of Johnston, Iowa, Terry Lewton of Beaverdale, Iowa, Russ Lewton of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kenny Lewton of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Louise Borowski of Grand Island, Marge Sass of Hastings and JoAnn Koenigsman of Omaha; one brother, Jim Stobbe of Grand Island; and 20 grandchildren.

Helen M. Biltoft
Former area resident Helen M. (Bise) Biltoft, 81, of Beatrice died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Robert Mrosko officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery in Ruskin. Visitation is noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Biltoft was born March 22, 1919, to John Thomas and Mabel (Jenkins) Bise in Republic County, Kan. She attended Washington rural school. She moved with her family in 1928 to rural Nora and attended Sunny View School. On Dec. 18, 1939, she married Homer Biltoft in Geneva. She moved to Fairbury in 1998 and then to Beatrice in March this year. On Oct. 25, 1999, her husband died.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Ruskin and the Ladies Aid.
Survivors are three sons, Darrell of Nora, Dennis of Birmingham, Ala., and Ray of Hardy; one daughter, Donna Sailors of Fairbury; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers; one sister; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice.
Mina M. Marick Hamilton
Franklin resident Mina Mae (Meline) Marick Hamilton, 87, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at her home.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hutchins Funeral Chapel in Franklin with the Rev. Russell Malchow officiating. Burial will be in the Upland Cemetery at Upland. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday and Monday, and 8 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hamilton was born June 7, 1913, to Delbert and Eva (Crawford) Meline on a farm near Burr Oak, Kan. In 1916, she moved with her parents to Guide Rock. The family later moved to near Red Cloud where she attended Penny Creek rural school and Red Cloud High School. On Nov. 22, 1932, she married Floyd H. Marick in Smith Center, Kan. They lived on a farm nine miles northwest of Riverton. In 1947 they moved to Franklin, where she worked in the Gambles store. In 1963 they moved to Campbell, where she owned and operated a restaurant. They later sold the restaurant and retired. Her husband died July 26, 1989. On April 25, 1990, she married Lee Hamilton in Franklin. He died Nov. 7, 1997.
She was a member of Bloomington United Methodist Church and Happy Hooligans. She served on the board of Mid-Nebraska Services and the Senior Center advisory board.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty McNair of Holstein; two sons, Charles Marick of Franklin and Gene Marick of Millard; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
LaVern R. "Jim" Bonsack
Wood River resident LaVern R. "Jim" Bonsack, 74, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Wood River with the Rev. Rose Bartleson officiating. Burial will be at Cameron Cemetery north of Wood River. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Survivors include his wife; one son; three daughters, including Nelda Robertson of Hastings; one sister; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
