Charles A. Murphy
Mankato, Kan., resident Charles A. Murphy, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, at Salina Regional Medical Center, Santa Fe Campus in Salina, Kan.
Services were to be at 11 a.m. today at Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato with the Revs. Kendal Utt and Clark Struebing officiating. Graveside services were to be at 1:30 p.m. at Corinth Cemetery southeast of Downs, Kan. Kramer Funeral Home of Mankato is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Murphy was born Sept. 4, 1912, to Austin W. and Flossie (Earls) Murphy in Downs. He farmed in the Natoma, Kan., area. He also was a carpenter and owned and operated a lawn maintenance service. He retired in 1979 and moved to Mankato.
Survivors are his wife, Laura; two sons, Gerald of Wakefield, Kan., and Stanley of Mankato; three daughters, Loretta Evans of Luray, Kan., Marilyn Struebing of Belleville, Kan., and Bettly Ann Schremmer of Blue Springs, Mo.; one brother, Ralph Murphy of Natoma, Kan., three sisters, Hazel Winder of Waldo, Kan., Jennie Sarber of Great Bend, Kan., and Ruth Winder of Osborne, Kan.; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Martha Circle of Harmony United Methodist Women in Mankato.

Elnora L. Rose
Blue Hill resident Elnora L. (Krueger) Rose, 78, of Blue Hill died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill with the Rev. Michael Knox officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery north of Blue Hill. Merten-Butler Mortuary of Blue Hill is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rose was born Sept. 18, 1917, to Fred W. and Emma Sophia (Waterman) Krueger at Blue Hill. On March 12, 1939, she married Harm E. Rose at Rosemont. He died Aug. 13, 1964. She worked at Bethesda Care Center for two years in the early 1970s and also had a day care in her home for most of the 1970s.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.
Survivors are one son, Jim of Geneva; one daughter, Jolene Koepke of Hastings; one brother, Alfred of Blue Hill; one sister, Lenora Knehans of Hastings; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Mildred E. White
Former Hastings resident Mildred E. (Brown) White, 90, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, at Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Carl H. Rehwaldt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens north of Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. White was born May 8, 1905, to Edwin and Eunice (Knouse) Brown in Surprise. On Dec. 26, 1922, she married George D. White, He died Nov. 22, 1962. She moved to Hastings in 1946. She was owner of K&K Market for 50 years.
Survivors are two sons, Gene of Hastings and Jack of Clinton, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Yvonne; three brothers and two sisters.
A memorial will be established.

Pearl H. Salmen
Former Sutton resident Pearl Helena (Hansen) Salmen, 88, of Lincoln died Sunday, Nov. 19, 1995, at Milder Manor in Lincoln.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton with the Rev. Arthur H. Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery. Kohler Mortuary of Sutton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Salmen was born April 26, 1907, to Ole and Mary (Hanson) Hansen near Sutton. She attended District 26 and Sutton High School. She graduated from high school in 1926. She attended Kearney State Teachers College for one year. She taught school in Clay County. On Aug. 20, 1933, she married Lloyd Salmen. They lived in North Dakota. He died Oct. 30, 1939. She returned to Sutton in 1942. She married Wesley Salmen. They farmed near Sutton. They later divorced. She moved to York and later Lincoln. She had been a resident of Milder Manor for the past four years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Fairview Extension Club, in which she had held various offices, both of Sutton.
Survivors are two daughters, Zona Scheele of Las Vegas and Karen Jansic of Willard, Ohio; two sons, Richard L. and Delno W., both of Lincoln; two sisters, Gladys Troedson of Turlock, Calif., and Verly Hofmann of Sutton; one brother, Vincent Hansen of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.

Adam Trupp
Kenesaw resident Adam Trupp, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 1995, at Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.

Owen Garner
Hastings resident Owen Garner, 45, of 3402 Parklane Drive died Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Duane D. Wescoatt
Wood River resident Duane D. Wescoatt, 61, died Friday, Nov. 17, 1995, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River with the Rev. Larry Nothstine officiating. Burial will be in Wood River Cemetery. Visitation is until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Wescoatt was born Jan. 14, 1934, to Vere and Margaret (Lilley) Wescoatt in Wood River. He attended District 45 and Wood River High School. He worked in heavy construction for H&M Gravel, Lilley's Sand and Gravel, Farmers Co-op in Wood River and Reiner and Schramm of Hastings. On June 19, 1955, he married Betty Smith in Shelton. They lived in the Prosser and Wood River areas. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956. He became disabled in 1981. He worked various odd jobs with wood and metal.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Dan of Grand Island and David and Galen, both of Wood River; one daughter, Valerie Stover of Elm Creek; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter and one sister.

Geraldine M. Miller
Former Hastings resident Geraldine Marie (Longtin) Miller, 75, of Ulysses, Kan., died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
Rosary is 7 p.m. today and services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with the Rev. John Kowall officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Phillips Mortuary of Ulysses is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Miller was born July 16, 1920, to Alfred and Helen (Brouliette) Longtin in Hastings. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors are her husband, Lawrence; five sons, Bob Jones of Garden City, Kan., Lawrence M. Miller of Clinton, Okla., Pat N. Miller and David Miller, both of Holcomb, Kan., and Anthony Miller of Ulysses; two daughters, Judy Nedom of Las Cruces, N.M., and Constance Joy Parks of Liberal, Kan.; one brother, Richard Longtin of Agawam, Mass.; two sisters, Charlene Peterson of Ralston and Clarene Adams of Barnsville, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Fund in care of the mortuary, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

Adam Trupp
Former Hastings resident Adam Trupp, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 1995, at Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Joe Scahill officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites provided by Lodge No. 50 will be in Parkview Cemetery. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Trupp was born June 28, 1905, to Adam and Alice (Frick) Trupp in Hastings. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1925. He worked for Hastings Planing Mill from 1920-25. In 1925 he began working for Kroblen & Trupp. He later purchased the company and changed the name to Trupp's Body Shop. On June 30, 1929, he married Viola Pearl Marquis in Hastings. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 50, Scottish Rite and Tehema Shrine. He was a past member of the Lion's Club and United Commercial Travelers.
Survivors are his wife of Hastings; one daughter, Barbara DeGroot of Denver; two sons, Richard of Topeka, Kan., and Jerold of Denver; one sister, Leora Spomer of Lincoln; two brothers, Robert of Chula Vista, Calif., and Clarence of San Diego; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.

Frieda B. DeJung
Clay Center resident Frieda Bertha (Foth) DeJung, 91, died Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at her home near Clay Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Clay Center with the Rev. Jack Eske officiating. Burial will be in Clay Center Cemetery. McLaughlin Funeral Home of Clay Center is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. DeJung was born Sept. 4, 1904, to Gustav Daniel and Anna Elizabeth (Boesler) Foth in Davis Creek Township near Ord. She attended rural school near Ord. On March 16, 1926, she married Frank DeJung. They farmed in the Glenvil area until the Naval Ammunition Depot was built. They then bought a farm near Clay Center. In 1969, they moved near Blue Hill where they farmed for 10 years. They returned to their farm near Clay Center in 1979. Her husband died March 28, 1981.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Darlene Bender of Kenesaw; one son, Frank Jr. of Clay Center; two sisters, Bertha Stone of Scottsbluff and Edna Bibidorf of Indian Beach, Fla.; one brother, Gus Foth of Ord; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the family.

Lola F. Deal
Hastings resident Lola F. (Davis) Deal, 75, of 1109 N. Bellevue Ave. died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1995, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Deal was born Oct. 17, 1920, to Thomas and Elsie M. (Lamphier) Davis in Bladen. In January 1941 she married Guy E. Deal. She was employed by the Naval Ammunition Depot during the war and then at Hastings Regional Center for 35 years. She retired in 1985.
She was a member of First Christian Church and Eagles Auxiliary No. 529.
Survivors are three sons, Ron of Arcadia, Calif., Mike of Omaha and Tim of Hastings; one brother, Leon W. "Bud" Davis of Hastings; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be given to First Christian Church.

Don Golding
Former Harvard resident Don Golding, 81, of Sun City, Ariz., died Thursday, Nov. 9, 1995, in Sun City.
Memorial services were Nov. 13 at Willowbrook Methodist Church in Sun City. The remains were cremated and placed in the church's columbarium. Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary of Sun City was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Golding was born May 21, 1914, in Harvard. He grew up in Harvard and graduated from Harvard High School. In 1934, he married Norma Stimbert in Harvard. They farmed in the area. In 1940 he moved to California where he worked for Aerospace. He retired and moved to Sun City. His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors are one son, Gerald of Washington; and one brother, Gene of Oregon.

Lucy E. Warner
Burr Oak, Kan., resident Lucy E. (Page) Warner, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 1995, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Northbranch Friends Church in Jewell County with the Rev. Joe Vance officiating. Burial will be in the Northbranch Cemetery. Simonson-Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Warner was born Dec. 25, 1910, to Daniel C. and Julia A. (Hopper) Page at Higgins, Texas. She graduated from high school at Lipscomb, Texas. On July 14, 1936, she married Wilber W. Warner at Lipscomb. In 1947 they moved to a farm near Northbranch in Jewell County. Mr. Warner died Sept. 1, 1994.
She was a member of Northbranch Friends Church and the Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors are two daughters, Velma Lee Smuck of Guide Rock and Verla Mae Armstrong of Burns, Ore.; four sons, Ray of Forest Grove, Ore., Wayne of Norman, Okla., Glen of Burr Oak and Bill of Hutchinson, Kan.; two sisters, Mary Robertson of Reserve, N.M., and Margaret Brown of Eads, Colo.; three brothers, Frank Page of Denver, Colo., Harold Page of LIttleton, Colo., and James Page of Mankato, Kan.
Memorials may be given to Northbranch Friends Church.

Marie Heiss
Former Hastings resident Marie Heiss, 90,of North Platte died Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, in North Platte.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Page United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carroll French officiating. Biglin Mortuary of O'Neill is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Heiss was born Dec. 5, 1904, to Leonard and Dollie (Reed) Heiss in Page. She graduated from Page High School, Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Denver School of Library Science. She taught school in Page, Amelia, Middlebranch, Lynch and Oxford. She was a librarian at the Hastings Senior School library from 1945 until retiring in 1970. She moved to North Platte from Hastings in 1992. She was a resident of Centennial Nursing Center in North Platte.
She was a past member of the National and Nebraska Education Association, Librarians Association, Hastings Business and Professional Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, DAR and Retired Teachers Association. she was a 75-year member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be given to the missionary support of her grandnephew and niece, Niels French and Inge Sthreshley.

Charles H. "Chuck" Warren
Former Hastings resident Charles H. "Chuck" Warren, 64, of Fairfield, Calif., died of cancer Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at the Santa Rosa, Calif., home of his son, Charles W. Warren.
The body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Webster City, Iowa. Lafferty & Smith Funeral Home of Santa Rosa, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Warren was born May 25, 1931 to Charles Virgil Warren and Mildred (Saul) Warren in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City and Fort Mammoth School of Photography in Fort Mammoth, N.J. He was married to Shirley Strain from 1952-1972. He lived in many places including Webster City, Hastings, Beatrice, Gering, Yuba City, Calif., and Fairfield, Calif. He worked as a journalist and in sales at the Lake Mills Graphic in Lake Mills, Iowa, and the Esterville Daily News in Esterville, Iowa. He was a news reporter, announcer and news director at KWBE Radio in Beatrice, KNEB Radio in Scottsbluff and KHAS-TV in Hastings. In Fairfield, he put together an interactive TV program for senior citizens on public access cable TV.
Survivors are his son; two daughters, Christine Warren of Sioux City, Iowa, and Michelle McBride of Lehigh, Iowa; his stepmother, Ruth Warren of Cameron Park, Calif.; three sisters, Geraldine Findley and Diane Laustrup, both of California, and Shirley Wirth of Iowa; eight grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Claus Goos
Former Hastings resident Claus Goos, 94, of Battle Creek, Mich., died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1995, at Mercy Pavilion in Battle Creek.
Services were today at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek with the Rev. Melanie Baker-Streevy officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Goos was born Jan. 18, 1901, to Onno and Matilda (Stumpenhorst) Goos in Blue Hill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-43. On Nov. 6, 1943, he married Evelyn Grace Kohl in Marysville, Kan. He moved to Battle Creek in 1946 where he was superintendent of Ashley Dairy until retiring in 1965. He moved to Harlingen, Texas, where he had lived during the winter since 1958. He later moved to Good Samaritan Village in Hastings where he lived for 10 years. He returned to Battle Creek in May 1994.
He was a member of Birchwood United Methodist Church, a life member of Battle Creek Management Club and member of Oscar Brady American Legion Post No. 298.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Donald of Decatur, Ill.; one daughter, Carol Burgett of Battle Creek; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Hospice Care or the Cancer Society.

John D. Lebsack
Lincoln resident John D. Lebsack, 95, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1995.
Services are Saturday at Friedens Lutheran Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Del Klover officiating. Burial is in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are one son, Edwin Lebsack of Hastings, and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Friedens Lutheran Church.

Harold R. Baetz
Smith Center, Kan., resident Harold R. Baetz, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1995, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Grand Island.
Graveside services were to be 2 p.m. today at Thornburg Cemetery at Smith Center with the Rev. Freda Steele officiating.
Mr. Baetz was born Oct. 17, 1921, to George and Grace (Lewis) Baetz in Smith County, Kan. He was a farmer and World War II veteran.
Survivors are three sisters, Ella C. Long of Red Cloud and Ruth Frase and Florence Rust, both of Franklin.
Memorials may be given to American Heart Association.

Marie A. Dondlinger
Geneva resident Marie A. Dondlinger, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1995, in Geneva.
Rosary is 7:30 p.m. today at Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Geneva with the Rev. Maurice Current officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Dondlinger married Harry J. Dondlinger. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are two sons, Jerome of Davenport, Iowa, and Eugene of Shickley; one daughter, Dora Jane Watmore of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Paul Kamler of Fairfield; three sisters, Agnes Kleinschmidt and Ann Budler, both of Geneva, and Emma Beetly of Fairbury; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
