Charlene A. Collins, 59 (1945-2004)
Charlene A. Collins, 59, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at her home in Lexington.
She was born January 2, 1945, at Stockton, California, to Elmer and Laura (Sterling) Sterner.
Charlene attended school at Stockton, California, graduating from Stockton High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Don Freeman in California and one son was born to this union; Bill. The marriage ended in divorce and she was married to Skip Collins. He preceded her in death. She lived her entire life in Stockton until four years ago when she moved to Lexington. Charlene enjoyed cooking, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She suffered from a heart condition which left her disabled and unable to get out and do much outside the house. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Charlene requested cremation at the time of her death.
Survivors include her stepfather, Lonnie Ross of Lexington; her son, Bill Freeman of Phoenix, Arizona: two brothers, Bill (Chris) Ross of Lexington, and Lonnie Ross of Aurora, Nebraska; two sisters, Thelma Ross of Goodyear, Arizona, and Cindy (Bill) Moses of Brady, Nebraska; and two grandchildren, Michael Ryan and Brandy Schultz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A memorial service was held Monday, February 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Pastor J.J. White, officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Donor's Choice.

Clifford Lee Baird, age 59 (1944-2004)
Clifford Lee Baird, 59, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, at the Grand Island Veteran's Home in Grand Island, Nebraska, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 3, 1944, in Hull, Iowa, to Alan and Helen (Fitzer) Baird. He attended grade school in Iowa and Minnesota graduating in 1962 from Oliva, Minnesota, High School. He entered the United States Army in January of 1963, serving in Korea and Vietnam. While serving in the United States Army, he specialized in auto technology. He was Honorably discharged in January, 1966.
On August 10, 1965, he was united in marriage to Linda Cudaback in Callaway. To this union two children were born, Rick and Misty. The family lived in Hardy and Superior for several years where Cliff was employed by Bill Morris Ford and Alexander Motors. He also worked for Valley Building. In 1982, the family moved to Callaway and Cliff worked for Ranchland Ford in Broken Bow. In 1984, Cliff realized his lifelong dream when he opened C&L Automotive, operating the business until his health began to fail in 2002.
He was a member of the Callaway United Methodist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed listening to country music and playing his guitar. His grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Callaway; one son, Rick and his wife Shelly Baird of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Misty and her husband Roger Keim of Cozad, Nebraska; three brothers, Steve Baird of Raymond, Nebraska, Stan and his wife Marilyn Baird of Eugene, Oregon, and Galen and his wife Dee Baird of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Cheryl Baird Davidson of Fairbaulth, Minnesota, and Kathy and her husband Steve Harriery of Hartford, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Ashley and Elisha Keim, Jessica Baird, and Brandon and Kara Stanton, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by is parents, an infant brother, and an infant sister.
Services were held Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Rev. Gerald Schwarz and Pastor Dean Haidle, officiating.
Burial was in the Sand Valley Cemetery near Callaway with Fort Riley 568 Engine Company doing Military Honors from Fort Riley, Kansas.

Charles E. Jenkins, 89 (1914-2004)
Charles E. Jenkins, 89, of Elwood, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska.
Charles was born May 28, 1914, at Todd County, South Dakota, to Fred C. and Mona L. (Plass) Jenkins. He moved with his family to Lincoln, Nebraska, as a young man where he attended school, graduating from Lincoln High Schol with the Class of 1932. He then went on to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
He was called to serve his Country during WWII on February 25, 1942, and was Honorably Discharged as a 2nd Lt. On October 3, 1946. While serving in the Army, and stationed in Florida, he met and married Wilmanette "Billie" (Drummond) Austin on November 19, 1942. The couple moved to Hastings, Nebraska, where Charlie was District Manager for State Farm Insurance for more than 30 years. In 1970, the couple moved to Johnson Lake, Nebraska, where they resided until Billie's death in 1998, and Charlie moved to Elwood Care Center following the death of Billie. Charlie was instrumental in the building of St. Peter's in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington as well as a lifetime supporter of the Johnson Lake EMS. He was a 32nd Degree Mason as well as a Tri-County Tehama Shrine member and a member of the Elk's Lodge.
Survivors include a step-son, Fuller Austin of Falls Church, Virginia; ten step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his wife, by two step-sons and one step-daughter.
It was Charlie's wishes for his body to be cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 16, 2004, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter's in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington with Rev. Larry and Ruth Jaynes, officiating. There will be no visitation.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the Johnson Lake EMS, Lexington Community Foundation, or St. Peter's in the Valley Episcopal Church at Lexington.

Michael C. Baldwin, age 17 (1986-2004)
Michael Baldwin, 17, of Cozad, Nebraska, died March 30, 2004, at Cozad from injuries received in an auto accident.
He was born April 2, 1986, at Carthage, Missouri, to Matthew and Mary (Freitas) Baldwin. He was currently a senior at the Cozad High School where he was a High Honor Student and member of FBLA. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and several motorcycle clubs. He enjoyed motorcycles, competing in races throughout the area. He also enjoyed playing pool with his friends and spending time at the coffee house.
Survivors include his parents, Matthew and Mary Baldwin of Cozad; two brothers, Maxwell and Miles of Cozad; his grandparents, Judith Ann Mims of Carthage, and Donald C. and Betty L. Baldwin of Neck City, Missouri; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Max B. Mims; great-grandparents, Laura Wright, Marguerite and Lester Dixon, Katherine and Louis Brock and Ed Nelson; and a cousin, Zachery Bloomer.
Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cozad. Mass of the Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2004, at Christ the King Catholic Church with the Rev. Don O'Brien as celebrant. Burial was in the Park Cemetery at Carthage, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.

Willard Aubushon, 79 (1924-2004)
Willard E. G. Aubushon, 79, of Brady, Nebraska, died March 30, 2004, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
He was born July 8, 1924, to Eddie George and Mary Ann (Rakestraw) Aubushon. He received his education in Stapleton, Nebraska, and Cozad, Nebraska. He decided to enter the service and not attend his twelfth grade class in Cozad. He served in Japan and other islands. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal from the US. Army. He was very proud of being an active service man and took great pride in his country. He was always proud to have the U.S. Flag flying at his home.
He married Bonnie Glo Brown on August 17, 1947. He and his wife farmed near Cozad and later moved to Gothenburg where he held different jobs including the Gas Company and Co-Op. He accepted a position with the City of North Platte, Nebraska, where he retired as manager of the City Land Fill in 1988.
Willard had many talents, he was a self-taught carpenter and built their home in Gothenburg and their cabin home at Jeffrey Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Brady; four daughters, Marcene (Daryl) Franzen of North Platte, Elaine (Roy) Flies of Brady, Bobbi Hyer of North Platte, and Rev. Tamlyn Joy Aubushon of McPherson, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Rob (Kim) Franzen, Mark (Danni) Franzen, Ryan Franzen, Tony (Shannon) Aubushon, Travis and Tulsa Flies, Nikki (Danny) Dishman, Brandon (Virginia) Evert and Nashea Hyer; six great-grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Dishman, Kaite and Abi Franzen, Trenton Flies, and his namesake Willard John Franzen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Fred and Hazel Sorenson; his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Eldora Brown, son-in-law, Bob Hyer; and infant twin grand-children.
Funeral services were be held on Friday, April 2, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Brady, with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Burial was in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska, with Military Honors by the Gothenburg Honor Guard.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church of Brady or the North Platte Veterans Memorial.

Adolph M. Sullivan, 96 (1907-2004)
Adolph M. Sullivan, 96, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Eddyville, Nebraska, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Mt. Carmel Keens Memorial Home in Kearney, Nebraska.
He was born May 2, 1907, in Eddyville, Nebraska, to Michael and Mary (Mussel) Sullivan. He grew up in the Eddyville area. As a man he farmed in the Eddyville area until failing health forced him to retire. He moved to Cozad, Nebraska, for a short time before moving to Mt. Carmel Keens Memorial Home in Kearney in October 1999. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, past member of the Eddyville Farm Bureau, Quarter Horse and American Paint Horse Association. He loved farming, horses, and attending church.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Bernadine Sullivan of Eddyville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Martha, Frances, Bessie and Albia; and three brothers, Joe, Richard, and Arthur.
Funeral Mass was held Friday, April 2, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Keens Memorial Home, 412 West 18th Street, Kearney, Nebraska. Burial was Friday, April 2, 2004, at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery near Eddyville, Nebraska.
