Mary Lauby Fagot, 89 (1914-2004)
Mary Magdeline Lauby Fagot, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
She was born October 21, 1914, on a farm south of Lexington. She was one of ten children born to William "Will" Anthony and Flora "Gillett" Lauby. Mary attended school at St. Anthony's Catholic School in Sterling, Colorado, through the 12th grade. She was married to Vincent Fagot on November 27, 1937, at Sterling, Colorado. To this union four children were born Carol Ann, James A., William A., and Thomas G. The couple made their home in Lexington for all but six years of their 63 years together, when they spent that time in Cozad, Nebraska.
She clerked for 20 years at Hellman's Department Store and Barmore Drug. Mary was complete homemaker, cook, seamstress, upholsterer, beautician/barber, gardener and teacher. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington where she was always active with the Ladies Altar Society and instrumental in starting the first concession stand at St. Ann's football field.
Survivors include three sons, James A. and Carol Lauby of Spicewood, Texas, William A. and Nance Lauby of Davie, Florida, and Thomas G. and Cathy Fagot of Lexington; one daughter, Carol Ann and Jack Taylor of Geneva, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille and Roy McLaughlin of Sun City West, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent in 2001; two brothers; and six sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, August 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with Rev. Paul Colling, officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to St. Ann's Catholic Church or the Lexington Community Foundation.

Dolorez P. Martinez, 78 (1926-2004)
Dolorez P. Martinez, 78, from Minden, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
Dolorez was born on May 2, 1926, in Devine, Texas, to Guadalupe and Luz (Alverez) Perez. She grew up in Texas and on June 20, 1943, she married Pablo Martinez. In 1954 they moved to Cozad, Nebraska, in 1966 they moved to Axtell, Nebraska, and in 1976 they moved to Minden.
Dolorez enjoyed bingo, shopping with her girls, going out to eat, cooking for her family and friends and just being around her family.
Survivors include her husband, Pablo of Minden; seven daughters, Dorothy Martinez of Kearney, Eloisa Cisneros and her husband, Marion of Minden, Rosa Luevano and her husband, Gonzalo of Grand Island, Nebraska, Deloris Hansen and her husband, Richard of Minden, Bertha Lopez of Grand Island, Margaret Llainez and her husband, Rutillio of Grand Island and Mary Ellen Martinez and her husband, Gabriel of Minden; five sons, Louie Martinez and his wife, Cathy of Minden, Guadelupe Sr. Martinez and his wife, Carrie of Axtell, Pedro Martinez of Grand Island, George Martinez and his wife, Laura of Minden and John Martinez and his wife, Tracie of Milliken, Colorado; 32 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Perez of Madera, California; and Dolorez's dog, Jake (Jay).
She is preceded in death by one son, Raymond; one great- granddaughter, Amanda Martinez; three sisters and one half brother.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. John Gosswein officiating. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.

Anna K. Schultz, age 89 (1915-2004)
Anna K. Schultz, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, August 5, 2004, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
She was born May 16, 1915, at Gothenburg, Nebraska, to George and Anna (Johnson) Bailey. Anna grew up at Gothenburg where she attended school. She was united in marriage to George Hawks in 1932, at Gothenburg. He passed away in 1940. She was then united in marriage to Lewis Schultz in 1942, at Lexington. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Anna worked at Latter's Diary for several years, but spent most of her years raising her large family. She enjoyed bowling and embroidery. Anna was baptized in the Assembly of God Church on August 12, 1973.
Survivors include sons, Glenn and JoAnne Hawks of Lexington, Robert and Genie Hawks of Lexington, Ronald and Judy Schultz of Lexington, Lewis, Jr. and Nancy Schultz of Cortez, Colorado, Jerry and Carol Schultz of Los Angeles, California, Gary and Edna Schultz of Lexington, and Terry and Audrey Schultz of Manor, Texas; two daughters, Georgia Ann and George Tappan of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Patty and Lonnie Pickering of Cozad, Nebraska; 26 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and three brothers.
Services were held Monday, August 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Joe Masten officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

C. Dean Winegar, age 90 (1913-2004)
C. Dean Winegar, age 90 of Cozad, Nebraska, died August 4, 2004, at Southview Manor Care Center in Cozad.
He was born September 16, 1913, at Wayne, Nebraska, to Lewis and Roxa Patterson Winegar. He graduated as Salutatorian from Wayne High School in 1931 and attended Wayne State College.
On September 15, 1935, he married Trella Morris. The couple made their home in Michigan, Ohio and Kansas. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1944. In 1945, they moved to Cozad. He was employed with Nebraska Plastics in sales and as a private and commercial licensed pilot, flew management to various business locations. He had also been associated with Western Plastics at Hastings for a brief time. He was later employed as secretary for the Cozad Chamber of Commerce during which time, Monroe Auto Equipment Co. was recruited to Cozad. He was in sales with Farm Journal, Mutual Funds and auto sales with Wells Motors where he used his flying abilities.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion and Cozad Elks Lodge. During his lifetime, his enjoyments included traveling with his wife and helping her become a licensed pilot.
Survivors include three sons, Gary (Lois) of Hudson, Wisconsin, Larry (Julie) of Arvada, Colorado, and Mike (Vicki) of Greeley, Colorado; a sister, Faye Warren of Ft. Myers, Florida; six grandchildren, Andrea (Kurt) Cegielski, Jennifer (Eric) Newcomb, David (Kristen) Winegar, Amy (Rob) Sobkoviak and Nathaniel and Benjamin Winegar, and four great-grandsons, Zachary and Grant Cegielski and Alec and John Sobkoviak.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003 and a daughter, Judy Faye.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with Rev. Lyle Schoen officiating. Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery.

Amos R. Johnson, age 80 (1924-2004)
Amos R. Johnson, 80, of Aurora, Colorado, formerly of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away on October 7, 2004, at his home in Aurora, Colorado. He was born on a farm south of North Platte, Nebraska, on May 10, 1924, to Maude and Rollie (Stewart) Johnson.
On August 14, 1949, he was united in marriage to Joan G. Kuhlman at Christ Lutheran Church north of Gothenburg. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from July 1943 to March 1946. He was a member of the American Legion Post #64 of Gothenburg. Amos retired from Hughes Aircraft Company in California in 1989. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and he was an avid Cornhusker fan.
Survivors include his wife, Joan of Aurora, Colorado; sons, Jeffrey Johnson and Terry Johnson, both of Aurora, Colorado; a brother, Bud (Barbara) Johnson of North Platte; a sister, Irma Kiser of North Platte; a sister-in-law, Gladys Johnson of North Platte; brothers-in-law, Willard (Marjorie) Kuhlman of Gothenburg, and Brian Kuhlman of Destin, Florida; grandchildren, Charles, Audrey and Anthony Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ivan and Fred; and two sisters, Cora Holley and Fern Jenkins.
The body was cremated, Newcomer Funeral Home of Aurora, Colorado, was in charge.
Memorial services were held on Friday, October 29, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Blase Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Viter officiating. Inurnment was in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Military Rites by the Gothenburg Honor Guard.
Memorials may be given to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church of Aurora, Colorado.
Della Jean Brown, age 69 (1934-2004)
Della Jean Brown, 69, died October 15, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after an extended illness.
Della was born on November 30, 1934, the daughter of Vern and Ruth Johnson Brown of Lexington, Nebraska. She attended elementary and junior high school in rural Nebraska schools near Lexington. She attended and graduated from high school in Cozad, Nebraska. She then attended college at Kearney State in Kearney, Nebraska, and obtained her bachelor's degree. Della then received her master's degree in pottery in Iowa City, Iowa.
Della had a heart for young people and began teaching soon after her graduation. She taught all ages of children in various schools. She especially loved teaching high school and it was her passion to inspire young people in the arts and stretching their creativity.
She enjoyed quilting, pottery, cross stitch and many other varieties of art. She loved teaching anyone who was willing to learn, any kind of new craft project. Her whole life was dedicated in service to others. She loved her family and cherished every moment with them. She also tried to make every moment they had with her as memorable. Della was a faithful member of Metro Faith Christian Church.
Della was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sam Brown; and sister, Marcella Ann Brown.
Survivors include her sister, Verla Brown of Claremore, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Carol Brown of Cozad; a niece, Karla Zima and her husband, Randy, and great-nephew, Cole of Mead, Nebraska; her nephew, Kent Brown and wife, Michaella of Cozad; and other uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Tulsa on October 18, 2004, with pastor Derrick Horne officiating.
Inurnment was at the Greenwood Cemetery near Lexington at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004, with Pastor Kyron BeDunnah officiating.
