Beverly Ingallas
Beverly Ingallas, 67, died in Ellinwood, Kansas, February 19, 2003.
Survivors include a sister, Donna Tietsort, a former Cozad resident. Donna resides at 312 East 9th Street in Wayne, NE 68784-1408.
Ralph B. Fox, age 91 (1911-2003)
Ralph B. Fox, 91, of Elwood, Nebraska, died February 24, 2003, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska.
He was born September 9, 1911, near Smithfield, Nebraska, to Joseph and Mary Simmons Fox. He attended rural school near Smithfield.
On March 7, 1936, he married Gertrude Harm. They made their home on the family farm until 1993, when they moved to Elwood. As a young man, he had worked on the Johnson Lake project.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church at Smithfield, and the Knights of Columbus at Lexington. He belonged to a pitch club for 50 years. He and his wife enjoyed dancing. On their 60th anniversary, they hosted a large celebration, which included a dance band.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hanson; and four brothers, Bill, John, Leo and Edward.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2003, at St. John's Catholic Church in Smithfield, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, at St. John's Catholic Church in Smithfield with Rev. Steve Cooney as celebrant. Burial was in the Elwood Cemetery.

Della L. Fisher, age 66 (1937-2003)
Della Fisher, 66, died February 24, 2003, at Southview Manor Care Center in Cozad, Nebraska.
She was born January 12, 1937, at Brady, Nebraska, to John and Lily Dovenbarger Parkhurst.
She was married to Loren Fisher and gave birth to five daughters, Gloria, Carolyn, Cindy, Lora and Florence.
Della lives in our memories as a warm and loving soul who will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and generosity.
She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn and Cindy Fisher, both of Broken Bow, Nebraska, Lora White and Florence Leiser, both of Lincoln, Nebraska; four sisters, Leota Beavers of Broken Bow, Leona McAlevy of Merna, Nebraska, Iona Fisher of Merna, and Doris McAlevy of Broken Bow; and eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Amber, Burt, James, Thomas, Catherine, Andrew and Kasara.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, and an infant daughter.
Memorials are suggested to the Minden Opera House.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Broken Bow, with Fred Cram officiating. Inurnment was in the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Albert G. "Al" Ackerman (1945-2003)
Al Ackerman, 57, of Cozad, Nebraska, died February 25, 2003, at a Lincoln Hospital.
He was born September 11, 1945, at Streeter, North Dakota, to George and Helen Ehresman Ackerman. He attended school at Streeter and moved to Cozad from North Dakota.
On December 21, 1974, he married Cindy Roe. He had been employed at Monroe Auto Equipment Company and with Farmland Service Co-op. He was later an owner/operator of A&A Propane and had managed Cozad Oil. He also made deliveries for the Omaha World-Herald for 10 years.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church. Al always enjoyed fishing, working on cars and helping others.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy of Cozad; a daughter, Lacy Ackerman of Grand Island, Nebraska; a son, Troy (Jean) of Beaver Lake; a brother, Ray Ackerman of South Dakota; and two sisters-in-law, Mable Meyer of Jamestown, North Dakota, and Arlene Ackerman of Streeter, North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, LeRoy; and two infant sisters.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2003, at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad with Pastor Bruce Berggren officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery northwest of Lexington, Nebraska.

Ezequiel Bautista
Ezequiel Garcia Bautista, 5, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 27, 2003, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska.
He was born December 23, 1997, at Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Gasper Escobar Garcia and Francisca Bautista.
Survivors include his parents of Lexington; one sister, Marisol Garcia Bautista of Lexington; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Service were held Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 8:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Rev. William Solis, officiating. Burial was at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Jake E. Moon, age 79 (1923-2003)
Jake E. Moon, 79, died at the Bethany Nursing Home in Minden, Nebraska, on Thursday, February 27, 2003.
He was born the fifth child of eleven to Oscar and Mary Maude (Baker) at Center, Colorado, on October 18, 1923.
Jake's childhood days were spent traveling with his parents over the Western part of the U.S.A. At age 16, he worked at the shipyards in California. All of his life he enjoyed farming, fishing and traveling.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, Elks Lodge and Eagles.
He married Ruth Buss on February 5, 1945, then making their home in the Cozad, Nebraska, area where he farmed. He also farmed in the Norfolk area and later in the Holdrege area.
After the death of his wife Ruth, and daughter Debra, who were killed in a car accident on February 29, 1972, he moved to the Minden area in 1973 where he farmed south of Minden. He married Helen (Pedersen) on January 31, 1976, and farmed until he retired and moved into Minden in 1989. He moved into Bethany Home on November 10, 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; one sister, Lavica (Robert) Malcom of Cozad; four sons, Douglas (Linda) of Garden City, Kansas, Dennis of Kearney, Dave (Sue) of Minden and Duane of Minden; one step-son, Keith (Susan) Pedersen of Omaha, Nebraska; one step-daughter Connie (David) Hoffman of Pryor, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and lots of nieces, nephews and friends.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter, one son, three brothers and six sisters.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2003, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial was in the Moses Hill Cemetery, north of Holdrege, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to Bethany Lutheran Church of Minden or Bethany Home of Minden.
Veryl H. Dannehl, age 82 (1920-2003)
Veryl Dannehl, 82, of Smithfield, Nebraska, died March 3, 2003, at the Holdrege hospital. He was born November 12, 1920, near Elwood to William and Sybil Anderson Dannehl. He moved with his parents to a farm south of Smithfield in 1924. He attended rural school and graduated from Bertrand High School in 1939. He attended a business college in Denver, Colorado, and returned to the farm in 1941.
In 1943, he married Florence Ohlenkamp. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945. His military service included assignments on the east and west coasts with longer stays in Seattle and 6 months in the Philippines. He returned to the family farm in 1945. In 1947, he became a rural mail carrier, retiring in August 1978. He then worked as a building contractor for Delmar Grafe for many years.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He also enjoyed woodworking and doing repair work.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood. He was a member and Past Commander of the VFW Post #5304 in Bertrand and had served as a member of the honor guard for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of Smithfield; a daughter, Connie (Delwyn) Anderson of Grand Island; a sister, Nila Eirick of Bertrand; a brother, Darrold of Alamo, Texas; and two grandchildren, Eric and Elissa Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marrold, Darrow and Marvin.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Elwood with Rev. Bonnie Linton-Hendrick officiating.
