Sweetman - Erma B., 86, Sedona, Ariz., died Saturday (5/5/2001) in Lincoln. Born, Hampton (8/23/14), to Jacob and Elizabeth Bamesberger. Majored in home economics and received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska in 1939. Taught home economics in Beatrice and Imperial. Served as county extension specialist for Washington County before graduate study at Cornell University. In 1945 became an extension specialist in home furnishings at the University of Amherst in Massachusetts. In 1953 entered private practice, specializing in interior design for church, home and commercial buildings in Wichita, Kan. Married to Harvey Sweetman, Brooklyn, N.Y., 1976. Accompanied husband to Mindanao of the Philippines to oversee the beginning of a new university sponsored by the Ford Foundation. After completion of this assignment and world travel, they settled in Sedona, Ariz., where she designed and supervised construction of their retirement home.
