Johnson - Carol L., 68, Grand Island, died Saturday (9/1/2001). Born, Stratton (3/22/33) to Randall and Mabel (Packwood) Masters. Began music lessons at age 5 and became the church organist at age 12. Attended Doane College as a music major; the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in elementary education. Began teaching in Holdrege, later moved to Lincoln where she met and married Don Johnson on (3/29/56). Moved with husband to St. Edward, where they taught in the St. Edward Public Schools. Moved to Grand Island, 1959, and began as church organist for Trinity United Methodist Church. Moved to North Platte, 1965, where she served as organist for the Methodist Church. Returned to Grand Island, serving as church organist since. Taught for a total of 31 years in the Grand Island Public Schools. Member, Trinity United Methodist Church; Riverside Golf Club; P.E.O. chapter EH. Life Contributor to the Community Concert Patron of Music fund. Active in the Riverside Women Golfing Association. President, Grand Island Community Concert Association. Had a passion for bridge and played international bridge throughout the world on the World Wide Web. Loved to travel but above all else, she loved her family.
