Tavlin - Mitch, 95, Lincoln, died Wednesday (2/13/2002). Born, Grodno, Poland (6/6/06). Immigrated to United States in 1912, Lincoln resident for 90 years. Graduated, Lincoln High School, 1923. Captain, U.S. Army, World War II veteran. Member, Tifereth Israel Synagogue, Lincoln Elks Lodge 80, VFW, B'nai B'rith. Mitch was in the automobile business in the 1930s and owned the Sleepy Hollow Motel in the 1950s, but he was best-known as Lincoln's wine merchant, owning and operating the Cork 'n Bottle for 40 years and then managing the wine departments at various SuperSaver stores until his health forced him to retire in 1995 at age 89. Mitch was an absolutely unforgettable, one-of-a-kind person who thoroughly endeared himself to the people of Lincoln, the city he called "The Best Place on Earth."

Bahr - Matthew J., Bismarck, N.D., originally of Lincoln, died Thursday (2/21/2002) from injuries sustained in a flash fire. A charismatic drummer for the rock bands Top Roxxi and Johnnie Quest and a talented and gifted tattoo artist and designer for Derma Design in Bismarck. His original designs are being used around the country and these designs reflect his zest and enthusiasm for the active life he led. Some of his artistry can also be seen at www.dermadesign.com.
