Friedman - Jerry, 41, San Francisco, died Friday (5/17/2002) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, of lymphoma. Born, Ogallala (7/17/60). Graduated, Ogallala High School, 1978. Attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, three years, and was a member of the UNL Yell Squad, 1981-82, and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Earned bachelor of science degree in speech pathology/audiology from Northeastern University, Boston, 1984, and master of science degree in audiology from Galludet University, Washington, D.C., 1986. Regents Fellowship doctoral candidate in a special education joint program with the University of California in Berkeley and San Francisco State University at the time of his death. He had finished all but his dissertation. California Board of Medical Quality Assurance licensed audiologist. Worked for several years for the Hearing Society of the Bay Area as a clinical fellow, audiologist/program coordinator for the Hearing Outreach Program and the director of audiology. Served as a consulting audiologist for the Specialized Audiology Center in Amman, Jordan, and later for the Society for the Care of the Handicapped in the Gaza Strip. Also known as "Vassy," a founding member of The Kinsey Sicks in San Francisco, an all-male a cappella singing group that tours the country.
