After graduating from University of Northern Iowa, began working for Union Pacific Railroad, where he was able to pursue an athletic career as a runner. Later attended Creighton Law School. Married, Alberta A. Schindler (7/14/35) at Peru. After earning law degree, worked for Federal Land Bank for 40 years before turning to private law practice. Interests besides law and family were his church, First Congregational UCC, where he served as moderator. Member, fraternal organizations: Sons of American Revolution, past state president; Society of the Cincinnati, Euclid Lodge 97 Weeping Water, where he received Jordan Medal as 70-year member.
