Alice Ramaekers
NORFOLK -- Alice Ramaekers, 60, of Norfolk died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Albuquerque, N.M., as the result of an automobile accident.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk with the Revs. Dave Belt and Tom Fangman officiating. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. today at the Home for Funerals in Norfolk and 7-8 p.m. this evening at the church with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Ramaekers was born Aug. 25, 1941, in Humphrey to Michael and Josephine (Roman) Knust. She was raised in Petersburg and graduated from John the Baptist Catholic High School in 1959. She graduated from the Lincoln School of Commerce and worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Omaha.
She married Francis John Pfeifer on Sept. 3, 1960. The family lived in Omaha and had five children. They moved to San Juan Capistrano, Calif., in 1970. He died in a work-related accident shortly after their move to California.
She married Edward "Bud" Ramaekers on Aug. 21, 1970, and the two families became one. She kept the books for the business and raised their family.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and was active on the parish council. She was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a former president of Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was also involved with Christians Encounter Christ, Birth Right, PEO, the Christian Women's Club, in which she was a Bible study leader, and the Sacred Heart Charismatic group. She participated in several bridge groups and was a Mary Kay representative.
Survivors include her children, Terry (Julie) Pfeifer of Grand Island, Mike (Sue) Ramaekers of Norfolk, Doug (Lisa) Pfeifer of Lincoln, Mark (Maryrose) Ramaekers of Omaha, Brenda (Rich) Krumel of Des Moines, Iowa, Jeanne (Chris) Guta of Frisco, Texas, Kevin (Heidi) Ramaekers of Atlanta, Crissy (Brian) Wood of Minneapolis and Tim Ramaekers of Columbus and his fiance, Michelle Becker; 28 grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Cecelia Ramaekers of Genoa; four brothers, Art Knust and Mark Knust, both of Elgin, and Joe Knust and John Knust, both of Petersburg; five sisters, Mary Ellen Frauendorfer of Lindsay, Lucille Kalinowski of Columbus, Lorraine Seier of Petersburg, Doris Schrad of Elkhart, Ind., and Janet Klein of Spalding.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, three brothers and two sons.
Lambert A. Zoucha
CLARKS -- Lambert A. Zoucha, 81, of Clarks, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Clarks, with the Rev. Don Cleary officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Clarks.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Arrangements were made by Solt Funeral Home, Central City.
Mr. Zoucha was born Aug. 13, 1920, in Merrick County to Jacob J. and Josephine (Lassek) Zoucha. He graduated from high school in Clarks then moved to Buffalo, N.Y., to work in the experimental department of the Curtis-Wright airplane factory.
He was married to Clara D. Zegar on Aug. 20, 1942, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Buffalo. The couple moved back to a farm Clarks in 1945, where Clara still resides.
Mr. Zoucha enjoyed inventing things. He loved music, and was able to play five different instruments: The trumpet, clarinet, accordion, violin and piano. He was a member of the Zoucha Polish Music Orchestra.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters: Judy Brown and Laurie (Jim) Wruble, all of Clarks, and Marilyn (Rob) Arnald of Grand Island; one son: Jim (Lisa) Zoucha of Orchard; sister Marie Zoucha of Clarks; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by infant brother Joseph; brothers Ben and Adrian; infant sister Gertrude and sister Marcy Janovec.

COLUMBUS -- Anna E. McDonald, 90, of Columbus died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital Inc.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Dr. Larry Adams officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. McDonald was born on May 12, 1911, at David City to Edwin F. and Frances R. (Veleba) Hawk. She attended rural Holt County School. She worked as a housekeeper on a ranch in the Deloit area.
She married Watson R. McDonald on June 22, 1927, in O'Neill. They farmed in the Deloit area until 1965 when a tornado hit and destroyed the farm. They then moved to Neligh and in 1986, they moved to Columbus.
She enjoyed music, gardening sewing, baking and being a homemaker.
She was a member of the church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann (John) Higgins of Lincoln, Rose Miller of Downey, Calif., and Ginger Moon of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Erma McDonald of Neligh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Richard McDonald; three brothers, Jim Hawk, John Hawk and Frank Hawk; two sisters, Clara Hall and Lucy Libby; and one son-in-law, Gary Moon.

Theodore Stanely Jarecke
ST. EDWARD -- Theodore S. Jarecke, 87, of St. Edward, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Boone County Health Center, Albion.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Novotny officiating. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Genoa, with military rites accorded by the Crosier American Legion Post No. 226, St. Edward.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today at the Miller-Levander Funeral Home, St. Edward, and 7 p.m. today at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service.
Mr. Jarecke was born April 7, 1915, in Genoa, a son of the late Stanley and Domicela (Shotkoski) Jarecke. He was baptized at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Krakow. He attended Nance County School District No. 63, west of Genoa. On July 10, 1941, he joined the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged Oct. 10, 1945.
He was married to Lillian J. Ziemba on May 3, 1948, at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Krakow.
They farmed the family's home place west of Genoa until the early 1970's. In 1979, the couple moved to St. Edward.
Mr. Jarecke had been a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Holy Name Society, Genoa, until his move to St. Edward, at which time he joined St. Edward Catholic Church.
He was also a member of Crosier American Legion Post No. 226 of St. Edward. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; and brother Art Jarecke of Genoa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Christine Oseka; and three brothers: Ralph, John and Ben.

SCHUYLER -- Marcel Frank Andel, 69, of Schuyler, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler with the Rev. Gerald Leise officiating. Burial will be at Schuyler Cemetery.

Mr. Andel was born July 24, 1932, in rural Butler County, near Appleton, to Frank and Veronica (Janak) Andel. He was educated at Appleton grade school and David City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived on the farm near Appleton until moving to Schuyler in 1958. He continued to farm in Butler County and was an avid outdoorsman.
He married Dolores Sedlacek on Aug. 9, 1958, in Schuyler.
He was a member of the church, past member of McLeod Post 47 of the American Legion and Hespen-Mitchell Post 4836 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim (Brenda) Andel and Steve Andel, all of Lincoln; one grandson; three sisters, Martha Sejkora of Arizona, Elsie Smola of Dwight and Mary Ann Romshek of Bellwood; two brothers, George Andel and Robert Andel, both of David City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

COLUMBUS - Louis E. Mick, 88, of Bellwood died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Morys Haven in Columbus.

Mr. Mick was born April 10, 1912, in Bellwood, to Joseph F. and Minnie (Sprunk) Mick. He received his education at District 13 and Bellwood High School. He married Barbara Liss on Nov. 24, 1936, in Duncan. He farmed for more than 42 years in the Bellwood area.
He was a member of the church, Holy Name Society and the Eagles Club. He served on the Alexis Township Board and on the Bellwood Co-op Grain Board.
Survivors include one brother, Joseph Mick of Columbus; two sisters, Ilene (William) Aerts of David City and Augusta Kracman of Bellwood; and one sister-in-law, Lorene Mick of Columbus.

She married Alphons Micek on Oct. 24, 1937, in Duncan. She was a homemaker and worked as head cook for the lunch program for St. Stanislaus School.
She was a member of the church, St. Ann's Sodality, Franciscan Order-Third Order of St. Francis and Legion of Mary.

Mrs. Owens was born April 5, 1932, at Loup City to Anton and Sophia (Rewolinski) Lewandowski. She attended grade school at District 59 Country School and St. Josaphat's parochial school and graduated from Loup City High School in 1950. She married Raymond "Bud" Owens on Sept. 29, 1951, in Loup City. They farmed in Arcadia. In 1962, they moved into Arcadia. She entered Valley County Nursing Home in Ord in July 1985.
She was a member the church as well as of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society in Arcadia and the American Legion Auxiliary in Arcadia. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, polka music and dancing.
Survivors include her husband of Arcadia; five sons, Richard "Dick" Owens of Albion, Myron "Mike" Owens of Lincoln, Mark Owens of Hastings, Dwain Owens of Columbus and Shawn Owens of Arcadia; five daughters, Paula Johnson of Arcadia, Janelle Masters of Hastings, Julie Gydesen of Ord, Patricia "Patti" Buttell of Hastings and Mary Young of Columbus; two brothers, Fred Lewandowski of Ansley and Dale Lewandowski of Loup City; four sisters, Donette Holcomb of Arcadia, Marge Larimer of Billings, Mont., Harriet Polski and Esther Kaminski, both of Omaha; 24 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, infant Joseph Owens and Alan Owens; one brother, Carl Lewandowski; and two sisters, Evelyn Janulewicz and Rozella Silver.

COLUMBUS - Marilyn M. Walker, 75, of Columbus died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Federated Church in Columbus with the Rev. Dorsie Ivy officiating. Burial will be at Columbus Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker was born June 11, 1926, in Syracuse to Merlin and Alice (Copenhaver) Balfour. She received her education in Nebraska City. She moved to Columbus in 1954. She was a longtime cook in the Columbus area, working in many restaurants. She owned the F & M Cafe.
She was a member of the church. She was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Roger Newell of Oregon, John Newell of Washington and Larry (Christine) Walker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Betty (David) Jacobson of Platte Center; four sisters, Margaret Farris of Arizona and Barbara Esser, Helen Rankin and Corrine Bryant, all of Nebraska City; one brother, Robert Balfour of Sidney; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

SAN ANTONIO -- Amelia A. Wilson, 84, of San Antonio died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at San Antonio.

Mrs. Wilson was born April 16, 1917, in Columbus to Matt and Hedwig (Tryba) Jarecki. She attended St. Bonaventure School in Columbus and was a retired Civil Service employee at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.
Survivors include her sisters, Barbara Jarecki and Germaine Cummins of Holdrege; one brother, Anthony (Mary Anne) Jarecki of Tyler, Texas; stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Harlan Schott
BRIGHTON, Colo. - Harlan C. Schott, 73, of Brighton, Colo., died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Porter Hospice in Denver.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday with a graveside service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Mr. Schott was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Omaha to Carl and Anna (Dinkel) Schott.
He married Shirley F. McClendon on June 25, 1971, in Brighton.
He worked as a warehouse manager at United Power, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. He was involved with the Brighton community for more than 40 years. He worked for the Brighton Police Department in 1960-61 and with the Ambulance Corp. in the 1960s and 1970s. He owned and operated S & S Security in Brighton.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and sponsored many softball teams in Brighton. He was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Sode of Augusta, Kan., and Sherry Pfeifer of Columbus; two sons, Ronald Schott of Milliken, Colo., and Wayne Schott of Madison; one stepdaughter, Julee Kramer of Eagle, Colo.; and one stepson, Steven Sanders of Fort Lupton, Colo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alfred A. Starostka
Alfred A. Starostka, age 85, of Columbus, died Thursday, April 26 at the Columbus Manor. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m.; Monday April 30, 2001 at the McKown Funeral Home with Fr. Alfred was born November 28, 1915 in Silver CReek, Nebraska to John & Mary (Czarnick) Starostka. He married Lee Johnson-Conger on May 4 1963 in Madison, Nebraska. He received his education in Merrick County rural Schools. He grew up in the SIlver Creek area. Alfred worked for over 22 years at Husker Steel as a welder until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #1834 in Columbus where he worked bingo. He enjoyed gardening and fishing in Minnesota.
