Marian Anderstrom
LINCOLN -- Marian Anderstrom, 81, of Lincoln, formerly of Ashton, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Milder Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Rusty Miller will officiate. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City.
Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1916, at Ashton to Albert and Arlie (Corning) Anderstrom. She graduated from Ashton High School and the Omaha School of Vocational Nursing. She taught school and was a licensed practical nurse at several hospitals in the Ashton area.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Wilson and Mildred Calvin; and one brother, Dale Anderstrom.
'Cap' James
LINCOLN -- Orlando R. "Cap" James, 90, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at the Haven House of Wahoo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar View cemetery at Doniphan.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. James was born on June 3, 1908, at Paxton to Robert and Sarah (Kirly) James. He grew up and was educated at Paxton.
He married
Ruby Beekman on June 2, 1937, at Hastings. The couple lived in Grand Island, where he worked for the Works Progress Administration and was a farm hand harvesting crops.
He began working for Norden Lab in 1942. They lived in Grand Island until 1965, when they moved to Lincoln. The family moved in 1970 to Firth, where he had a small hog operation. He retired in 1972. They moved to Panama in 1987 and back to Lincoln in 1995.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Melvin James of Olympia, Wash.; two daughters, Carol (Mrs. David) Prokesh of Wahoo and Cynthia (Mrs. Arvin) Huenink of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis James of Grand Island; and three sisters, Nora Billington of Grand Island, Agnes Lockhorn of Wichita, Kan., and Dorothy (Mrs. Norman) Christensen of Anaheim, Calif.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Norvin Kinnaman
ATLANTA, Neb. -- Norvin Kinnaman, 73, of Atlanta, Neb., died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Methodist Memorial Homes in Holdrege.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege. The Rev. James McVicar will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Home cemetery in Holdrege.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Kinnaman was born on Nov. 16, 1924, in Naponee to Arlen and Ruby Mea (Simmons) Kinnaman. He attended school in Naponee.
He married
Evelyn Saathoff of Naponee. He started working for McClymont Feedlot in 1952.
He married
Judith Kinchel' of Holdrege in 1959.
He married
Grace Smith of Iowa on Jan. 16, 1968, and they lived at the McClymont Feedlot until moving to Atlanta in 1983. He retired from the McClymont Feedlot in 1993 after 41 years of employment. He moved into Methodist Memorial Homes on May 28, 1998.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Bryon) Lawrence and Sandra (Mrs. Merle) Bethune, both of York, Judy (Mrs. Don) Herzog and Janice (Mrs. Roy) Hill, both of Holdrege, and Kay Oldham of Shenandoah, Iowa; two sons, Lyle Kinnaman of Holdrege and Bill Silence of Overton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Arland and Maynard.
'Sally' Roberts
PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Marcella "Sally" Roberts, 77, of Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wood Brothers Chapel in Seward. Burial will be in the Seward Cemetery.
Mrs. Roberts was born at Dwight to Fred and Anna (Durbal) Vondra. She attended school at Bee and Dwight.
She married
Clifford Carl Roberts on Nov. 24, 1940. They lived in Nebraska for a number of years. She was a former employee of O.P. Skaggs in Grand Island.
She had lived in California since 1963. She retired from Alpha Beta Market in California as a clerk and cashier.
Her husband died on July 9, 1997.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Frank) Golba of Yorba Linda, Calif., Ruth (Mrs. Carl) Honeywell of Portland, Ore., and Carol (Mrs. Doyle) Muhs of Grand Island; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia (Mrs. Otis) Reinmiller of Staplehurst; and two brothers, Virgil of Bee and Fred of Lincoln.
Leo Van Nortwick
Leo A. Van Nortwick, 80, of Grand Island, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the Nebraska Veteran's Home in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Rev. Todd Karges will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Cozad. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Reynolds-Love Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Leo Van Nortwick Memorial Fund.
Mr. Van Nortwick was born June 7, 1918, near Eustis to James and Minnie (Relph) Van Nortwick. He grew up and attended school in the Eustis/Cozad areas and graduated from Cozad High School in 1936. He entered the United States Air Force, served during WWII and Korea, and retired as a sergeant. He attended Hastings Community Collage where he studied to be a dental technician. He worked for various farmers in the area and at Kirkpatrick Sand & Gravel and Overton Sand & Gravel.
He married
Elma Boggs Wood on Nov. 12, 1966, at Holdrege.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Eagles Club. He enjoyed playing pinochle, cribbage, fishing and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, Tracy Wood of Lexington, Greg Wood of Lincoln, and Grant Wood of Lincoln; two stepdaughters, Audrey Edwards of Fort Collins, Colo., Eunice (Mrs. Mark) Fagot of Lexington; a sister, Doris German of Imperial; 12 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Merle, Virgil, Woodrow, Edward, and Lloyd; and a sister, Ruth German.
Ralph Appleton
STROMSBURG -- Ralph E. Appleton, 72, of Stromsburg died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home of Stomsburg. The Rev. Lester Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

FULLERTON -- Leonard Edward Luebke, 58, of Fullerton died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Fullerton Manor.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. William Voelker will officiate. Burial will be at Grand Island City Cemetery. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Peterson
GREELEY -- Anna Peterson, 96, of Greeley died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at the Greeley Care Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. Father Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels cemetery in Spalding. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a rosary at 7 p.m.
