Virgil Prorok
ST. EDWARD -- Virgil Charles Prorok, 61, of St. Edward died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward. Visitation will resume Saturday from 8:30 until 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Prorok was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Boone County on a farm south of St. Edward to Charles F. and Agnes Kush Prorok. He attended rural school Districts No. 47 and No. 54 south of St. Edward.
He worked constructing metal buildings with various construction firms, including Behlen Construction, B-D Construction, Ed Prorok Construction and Monr' Construction. He erected buildings all over the United States.
He was a member of the St. Edward Catholic church.
Survivors include two brothers, Rudy prorok and Bill Prorok, both of St. Edward and two sisters, Virginia (Mrs. Bill) Schumacher and Margaret (Mrs. Gerard) Micek, both of St. Edward.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ralph, Ray and Eddie.
Alma Wilson
LOUP CITY -- Alma P. Wilson, 87, of Loup City died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Loup City. The Revs. Lawrence Garland and Doug DeNeui will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to the church, the Sherman County Historical Society or the I Believe In Me Ranch of Kearney.
Mrs. Wilson was born Dec. 23, 1910, at Thayer, to Samuel and Janet (Frazey) Elrod. She began her early education at Thayer and, in 1917, moved with her family to a farm northeast of Litchfield. She then attended country schools and Litchfield High School.
She married
Henry J. Wilson in March 1927 at St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm near Loup City until 1945, when they moved to Cheyenne, Wyo. In 1949, they returned to a farm west of Loup City. Mr. Wilson died in 1988. She continued to live on the farm until April 1997, when she moved to St. John's.
Mrs. Wilson enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and First Baptist Women, the Sherman County Historical Society, the Happy Circle Extension Club and a was a former member of the Loup Valley D.A.R.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Wilson Jr. of Loup City and Richard Wilson of Pleasanton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hallie Woolf and Laura Kensinger; and two brothers, LeRoy and Archie Elrod.
Marjorie Church
ELM CREEK -- Marjorie Elizabeth Church, 86, of Elm Creek died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. LaQuita McKibbin will officiate. Burial will be in Pierce Chapel cemetery near Clarks.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the 'S Arbor Chapter 200 or the Good Samaritan Home Health Care Services in Kearney.
Mrs. Church was born Feb. 16, 1912, at Clarks to John and Meta (Kokjer) Key. She attended Clarks Schools.
She married
Leonard Church on Dec. 7, 1929. They lived in Clarks and other area towns. Mr. Church was a section foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1929 to 1959, during that time Mrs. Church did payroll and bookkeeping for her husband. In 1959, they moved to Elm Creek where they were living at the time of her death.
She was a 50-year member of the 'S Ivy Chapter 210 of Clarks and a past president of the Central City Women's Club and the Bi-County Extension Clubs.
Survivors include her husband, a son, Robert, of Bella Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley (Rex) Kelly of Holdrege and Mrs. Patricia (Maynard) Anderson of Herman, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Hallett of San Rafael, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
John Nagorski Jr.
SILVERTON, Ore. -- John Nagorski Jr., 56, Silverton, Ore., formerly of Grand island, died Tueday, May 26, 1998, at Silverton.
Services will be at Ungers Funeral Home at Silverton.
'Jean' Hornby
Marilyn "Jean" Hornby, 66, of Grand Island and formerly of Hastings, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island with the Rev. C. Roger Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Hornby was born on April 27, 1932, in Hastings to Jessie and Helen (Scudder) Wailes. She grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1950. While in high school she played the saxophone in the marching band.
After her education she worked for the telephone company. She moved to Colorado where she worked for Sears. She later returned to Hastings and then moved to Grand Island where she was employed by Goodrich Dairy and Austin's Furniture.
On Aug. 22, 1971, she married
Robert Hornby in Grand Island.
Mrs. Hornby was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed quilting and her English Bulldogs.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Grand Island; one daughter, Pam Robledos of Grand Island; two sons, Jerry Malone and Monte Malone, both of Grand Island; two stepdaughters, Pamela Bosley of Lincoln and Melanie Robbins of Omaha; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her mother, Helen Wailes of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Beulah Andersen
AURORA -- Beulah Andersen, 87, of Aurora died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Higby Mortuary chapel in Aurora with the Rev. Jay Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Higby Mortuary.
Mrs. Andersen was born Sept. 24, 1911, to Nels and Tilda (Nelson) Nelson near Aurora. She attended country District Schools 56 and 89 near Marquette.
On March 16, 1932, she married
Herluff Andersen in Aurora. The couple farmed in the Marquette area until they moved to Aurora in 1979.
Survivors include one son, Donald of Aurora; one daughter, Betty (Mrs. Robert) Crawford of Muscatine, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Edna Boltz
WOOD RIVER -- Edna M. Boltz, 90, of Wood River died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Gretchen Diers officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Boltz was born on Jan. 21, 1909, to August and Jane Maria "Jenny" (Parker) Dibbern in Wood River where she was also raised and educated. She attended Grand Island Senior High.
On Feb. 4, 1929, she married
Claus Boltz in Grand Island. After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm near Wood River. They lived in the Wood River area for several years before moving to Grand Island in 1970. Mrs. Boltz worked at Delicious Foods and Sink and Baer Cleaners. She also raised one grandson, Jerry Wilson of Lincoln, Ark.
Mrs. Boltz was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Ladies Club, the Platte Duetsche Society and Ladies Aide at the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma Jean (Mrs. Frank) Gosda of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Ira Dibbern; one daughter, LaVonne Sautter; and one granddaughter, Connie Gosda.
