Helen Eberle
KENESAW -- Helen Mae Eberle, 82, formerly of Lincoln, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Haven Nursing Home in Kenesaw.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Rev. Cliff Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the Mason City Cemetery.
Miss Eberle was born Dec. 25, 1916, at Mason City to Fred and Hattie (Hauck) Eberle. She attended Beachville Country School near Mason City. In 1935, she moved to Lincoln. She worked in food service most of her life. She worked at Miller and Payne Department Store and later worked at a hospital kitchen. She lived in Lincoln for 63 years before moving to Haven Home in 1998.
Survivors include three sisters, Eleanor Anderson of Broken Bow, Betty Beno of Minden, Shirley Eberle of Ansley; a brother, David Eberle of Minden.
She was preceded by a brother, Raymond Eberle.
Lucille Govern
COLUMBUS -- Lucille Rose Govern, 83, of Columbus died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Joseph A. Miksch will officiate. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery in Krakow, rural Genoa. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a 7 p.m. vigil at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sharyn Roder
McCOOL JUNCTION -- Sharyn L. Roder, 60, of McCool Junction died Saturday, Feb. 26, 1999, at McCool Junction.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool. Rev. Anne Rosenquist will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery east of McCool.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Clarence Karsten
Clarence L. Karsten, 76, of Grand Island died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, with a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Karsten was born July 8, 1922, in Loomis to Louis and Emma (Haeffner) Karsten. He grew up and attended school in Elm Creek.
He entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 16, 1942, serving during World War II and receiving a Bronze Star medal. He was discharged on Oct. 13, 1945.
He married
Grace G. Loschen on Aug. 13, 1943, in Lexington. The couple lived in the Kearney, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad.
In 1971, they moved to Grand Island, and he continued to work for the Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1982 after 41 years. He then began working for Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home and retired in 1996.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post No. 759 of Kearney and the American Legion Post No. 53 of Grand Island. He was a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers, of which he was past president, and the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks and the Platt-Duetsche.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Maxine (Mrs. Ron) Erpelding of Gibbon and Beth (Mrs. Larry) Janecek of Gering; one son, Rod Karsten of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Bertrand, Florence Montgomery of Norfolk, Lila Rishel of Gothenburg and Fern Karsten of Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Herman and Walter; and two sisters, Edna Hayward and Mabel Hemstrom.
Gerald Thornburg
Gerald Thornburg, 86, of 910 N. Boggs died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at the St. Francis Skilled Care Unit.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton cemetery at Fullerton.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Thornburg was born on Jan. 14, 1913.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Thornton.
William Adamson
FULLERTON -- William Lowell Adamson, 68, of Fullerton died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the University Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Burial will be at the Fullerton cemetery with military rites. The Rev. Roy Cupples will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Memorials are suggested to the Victory Baptist Church in Fullerton.
Mr. Adamson was born May 16, 1930, to William E. and Shirley B. (Stevens) Adamson in Fullerton. He attended school in Fullerton, graduating in 1948.
He served in the Korean War. He attended the University of Nebraska for one year and then Milford College. Later he worked in a garage with his father and at the post office part-time until he retired.
He was a member of the Fullerton American Legion Post No. 151 and attended the Victory Baptist Church in Fullerton. He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one brother, Richard E. Adamson of Kearney.
Ivar G. Larson
STROMSBURG -- Ivar G. Larson, 83, of Stromsburg died Friday, March 5, 1999, at the York General Hospital.
Services are pending with Palmer Funeral Home of Stromsburg
Edward Casford
WYMORE -- Former Grand Island resident Edward C. Casford, 96, of the Wymore Good Samaritan Center died Friday, March 5, 1999, at the Beatrice Community Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Laughlin-H'vet Funeral Home in Wymore. Visitation will continue one hour preceding services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Laughlin-H'vet Funeral Home in Wymore is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Casford was born May 26, 1902, at Medford, Okla. He graduated from high school at Tecumseh.
He married
LaVetta Schultz on Oct. 15, 1934, at Kansas City, Mo. They lived in Tecumseh where he was a car salesman before moving to Grand Island in the early 1940s. He was a salesman for the 'lwin Chemical Company at Grand Island until his retirement in 1975.
He moved to the Wymore Good Samaritan Center in December 1997.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Grand Island. He enjoyed working on the apartments he owned and working with cars.
Survivors include nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVetta on Aug. 8, 1995; a brother, Raymond "Buss" Casford and by three sisters, Winnifred Cook, Fern Casford and Faye Casford.
Darrell Frye
BUFFALO, Minn. -- Darrell D. Frye, 62, of Buffalo, Minn., formerly of Burwell, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn.
Services were March 1 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. The Rev. Edward A. Blair officiated.
Graveside services will be at a later date in the Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell. Peterson Chapel in Buffalo was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Frye was born Dec. 15, 1936, to Robert and Addie Frye in Burwell. He was a 1954 graduate of Burwell High School.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for many years as a service technician at GTE in Mound, Minn., until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Kelly Patton of Buffalo, David Frye of Watertown, Minn., Terry Frye of Maple Lake, Minn., and Sherry (Mrs. Pat) Germo of Buffalo; three granddaughters and one grandson; two sisters, Virginia Britain of Ansley and Darlene (Mrs. Jupe) Anderson of Burwell, and a brother, Robert Frye of Burwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter and a grandson.
