Mary Miner
LINCOLN -- Mary Cecilia Miner, 47, of Lincoln died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lincoln. The Rev. John Perkinton will officiate.
Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Miner was born on June 12, 1951, at Omaha to Richard and Patricia DeBacker.
Survivors include two sons, Ben and Abe Miner of Lincoln; her parents, of Grand Island; three brothers, Richard DeBacker of Helena, Mont., John DeBacker of Grand Island and William DeBacker of Shore View, Minn.; and seven sisters, Susan Crump of Reston, Va., Patrice Downey of Butte, Mont., Janet Facciano and Dianne Sullivan, both of C'ur d'Alene, Idaho, Laura McAloon of Spokane, Wash., Julia Wolfe of Lincoln and Joyce Schmoll of Seattle.
John Bernt
SPALDING -- John A. Bernt, 76, of Spalding died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Rev. Frank H'lck will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with rosaries at 4:30 and 8 p.m., Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Bernt was born on June 27, 1922, on a farm near Pibel Lake to John C. and Margaret (Kizer) Bernt. He attended District 14 School and Spalding Public School. He farmed with his father until entering the U.S. Navy in 1944. He returned to Spalding in 1946 and resumed farming.
He married
Prudie Prickett on June 22, 1949, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. They lived on their farm in Wheeler County until his death.
He was a member of St. Michael's Men's Club and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Regina (Mrs. John) Scheef and Diana (Mrs. George) Valasek, both of Spalding, Arlene (Mrs. Pat) Carlin of Lincoln, Sharon (Mrs. Todd) Eckstrom of Osmond, Annette (Mrs. Nile) Kemble of Columbia, Mo., and Janet (Mrs. Tim) Miller of Norfolk; two sons, John and Denny, both of Spalding; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Ag Hust of Spalding; and three brothers, Raymond of Warrensburg, Mo., Leonard of Primrose and Pat of Spalding.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Funk, Annie Bernt and Loretto Sharp; and two brothers, Edwin and Mike.
Louis Lesiak
FULLERTON -- Louis A. Lesiak, 85, of Fullerton died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with a 4:30 p.m. family rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Further visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Marie Linke
ORD -- Marie Linke, 86, of Ord died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ord. The Rev. Roger Leavitt will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Scotia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Linke was born on May 29, 1912, at Valley County to John and Maude (McClery) Boyce. She grew up in Valley County near Arcadia, where she attended country school until going into Ord to attend high school. She graduated from Ord High School in 1931.
She married
Walter Linke on Dec. 10, 1939, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mira Valley. The couple lived on a farm in Mira Valley until 1954, when they moved into Ord. Mr. Linke died on Nov. 20, 1976.
Mrs. Linke was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She received the Woman of the Year award from the Ord Chamber of Commerce. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, crafts and garage sales. She was an avid fan of Ord Chanticleer sports.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Mercett, Calif., John of Lincoln and Melvin of Scotia; two daughters, Ruth Linke of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Stella Morrow of Scotia; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter; one sister, Gladys Williams; and one brother, Everett Boyce.
Henry Manning
SHELTON -- Henry B. "Hank" Manning, 92, of Shelton died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton. The Rev. Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Manning was born on Dec. 31, 1905, in Park River, N.D., to William and Mary (Buddecke) Manning. As a child, he moved to Wyoming and St. Libory. He attended St. Libory's Catholic School through the 10th grade. His father had a cream route with which he would help.
He played with St. Paul and Palmer baseball teams in the 1920s and 1930s and had a chance at the minor leagues. He chose to stay home and began to work at a mechanic shop in St. Libory.
He married
Catherine Jansen on Nov. 6, 1935, in St. Libory, where they farmed. They began farming in the Palmer area in 1952 and moved in 1963 to Shelton, where he retired from farming.
He enjoyed playing cards and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Alleen Wilks of Omaha; three sons, Melvin and Myron of Shelton and Wayne of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Manning of Grand Island; and one sister, Chris Adler of Denver.
He was preceded in death by thee brothers, Ben, George and Ray; and two sisters, Florence Manning and Elizabeth Flyr.
Darwin Poss
Elba -- Darwin D. Poss, 63, of Elba died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the Saunders County Hospital in Wahoo.
Services are pending with Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul.
Kenneth Rasmussen
ROCKVILLE -- Kenneth Rasmussen, 68, of Rockville died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Rockville. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in Souleville Cemetery.
A Christian wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rasmussen was born on Oct. 14, 1930, in Rockville to Ole and Annette Rasmussen. He attended Rockville public schools and graduated from Rockville High School in 1948.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a member of the American Legion Ashton Post.
He married
Rosemary Robson on Oct. 14, 1967.
He started farming in the Rockville area in 1969 and later opened Ken's Plumbing.
He was elected to the Sherman County Board of Commissioners in 1990 and served as a county commissioner for eight years, the last two as the board's chairman.
He was also on the boards of the South Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging and the Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services and served on the housing authority of Central Nebraska Community Services.
Mr. Rasmussen enjoyed playing cards and attending dances.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Terry and Larry, both of Lincoln, and Greg of Rockville; and one daughter, Dawn of Minnesota.
Cash Wozniak
ORD -- Cash Wozniak, 85, of Ord died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services are pending at Ord Memorial Chapel.
