Imogene Quick
NORFOLK, Mass. -- Imogene Grace Quick, 79, of Norfolk, Mass., died June 3, 1998, at Norfolk.
She was cremated.
Mrs. Quick was born on July 22, 1918, at Grand Island to George and Lena Bloom. She attended local schools, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1936.
She worked briefly in Detroit, where she met her husband, Ivor Quick. They were married
in 1942. Mr. Quick died in 1995. Mrs. Quick then moved to Norfolk, where she lived with her son, Gregory, and his family.
She was active in bowling leagues, golf leagues and, most importantly, her bridge groups.
Survivors include her son, Gregory of Norfolk, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
Lydia Davis
ST. PAUL- Lydia Davis, 82, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services are pending at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Cress Marco
Greeley - Cress Marco, 80, of Greeley died Monday, June 15, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services are pending at T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home in Greeley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach with the Rev. Marcia Jark-Swain officiating. Burial will be in the Wolbach Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Greeley.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Doris Fish
BROKEN BOW - Doris Jean Fish, 70, of Broken Bow died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Broken Bow Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Hicks will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the Broken Bow Rescue Unit or the American Diabetes Association.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1927, at Broken Bow to William A. and Pearl D. (Baker) Fish. She grew up in Broken Bow and attended Broken Bow High School.
She worked as a baby sitter for more than 35 years, taking care of many children in Broken Bow. She lived with her sister, Alice, her whole life. The sisters moved to Custer Heights in Broken Bow seven years ago.
She enjoyed reading, especially to young children, and also fishing. She had spent 20 years fighting diabetes.
Survivors include one sister, Alice Fish of Broken Bow; and one brother, Vaugh Fish of Broomfield, Colo.
Mildred Hesselgesser
BROKEN BOW - Mildred Hesselgesser, 90, of Broken Bow died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Hesselgesser was born on May 14, 1908, near Anselmo to Bert and Sarah (Moody) Roberts. She attended rural schools in Custer County.
She married
Paul Hesselgesser on July 3, 1936, in Burwell. They lived near Burwell until 1961, when they moved to Broken Bow. They moved to Wood Lake in 1964. Mr. Hesselgesser died on May 11, 1975.
Mrs. Hesselgesser lived at Parkview Plaza in Burwell from 1975 until 1980, when she moved to Regency Place in Broken Bow. She moved into Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow in November 1995.
She enjoyed crafts, quilting and embroidering. She was active in volunteer work, looking after elderly people that needed extra help.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Darrill) Crouch of Broken Bow and Louise Hilliker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Alice; and a sister, Opal Hawkins.
James Holmes
ARCADIA - James Holmes, 63, of Arcadia died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcadia City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the hospital or the donor's choice.
Mr. Holmes was born on Nov. 3, 1934, at Ord to Ralph and Lyla (Stone) Holmes.
He married
Evelyn Thompson on March 28, 1959. They lived near Arcadia. Mr. Holmes farmed and was a crop insurance adjuster.
Mr. Holmes was a member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church in Arcadia and the Ord Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra (Mrs. David) Dubbs of Loup City and Judy Holmes of Kearney; one son, Daniel Holmes of Arcadia; two grandsons; a stepmother, Juanita Holmes of Olympia, Wash.; three sisters, Leah Hunt and Viola Hunt, both of Arcadia, and Betty Jo Johnson of Olympia, Wash.; and two brothers, Roy Holmes of Overton and Jerry Holmes of San Francisco.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don.
Richard Peterson
HASTINGS - Richard E. Peterson, 60, of Hastings died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sam Rathod will officiate. Private family inurnment will be held.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Richard E. Peterson Memorial Fund.
Mr. Peterson was born on Jan. 20, 1938, in Arcadia to William and Mary (Coulthard) Peterson. As a child, he moved to Loup City, where he grew up with his mother and stepfather, Lewis Chapman.
He married
Sandra L. Anderson on Dec. 27, 1959. He moved to Hastings from Loup City in 1959 and worked for the Nash Finch Co. for 39 years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hastings Chorus of the Plains, Lochland Country Club and Elks. He was past president of the Noon Lions Club. He volunteered at the Hastings Public Schools after retiring. He was a former member of the Neighborhood Four barber shop quartet.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kristin Peterson of Omaha and Kara (Mrs. Mark) Asmus of Columbus; two grandchildren; one sister, Janet Luther of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and one brother, Ronald Peterson of Loup City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather; an infant sister, June Peterson; and a brother, Robert Peterson.
