Anna Sisty
STROMSBURG - Anna R. Sisty, 88, of Stromsburg died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at the Hearthstone in York.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Stromsburg United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeffery Thurman will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
Mrs. Sisty was born on Dec. 9, 1909, on a farm southwest of Stromsburg to Lewis A. and Maggie M. (Austin) Burg. She attended Willow Hedge County School.
She began her career as a beautician at the age of 16. Three years later, she received license No. 11 from the state.
She married
Wayne E. Sisty on Nov. 4, 1937, at Seward. She continued her beautician business, Anna's Beauty Shop, where she worked until retiring when she was 75 years old.
She helped her parents, who lived with her in their later years.
Survivors include one son, Burdette Sisty of Stromsburg; one daughter, Bess McCord of Osceola; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Burg of Stromsburg.
Her husband died on Jan. 21, 1979.
Tonia Steele
ST. PAUL - Tonia M. Steele, 33, of St. Paul died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at the Howard County Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Robert Paulson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Steele was born on July 1, 1964, in Grand Island to Fritz and Karen (Nelson) McCord. She grew up at St. Paul, attended Bunker Hill School south of St. Paul and graduated in 1982 from St. Paul High School.
She worked for Chief, New Holland and Palmer Implement and Irrigation, as well as Jack and Jill in St. Paul.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
Survivors include two sons, James of St. Paul and Eric of Grand Island; two daughters, Dakota of St. Paul and Andrea of Grand Island; her father, of Geneva; her mother, of St. Paul; two brothers, Todd McCord of Wood River and Timothy McCord of St. Paul; her maternal grandmother, Florence Nelson of St. Paul; and her paternal grandmother, Doris McCord of Palmer.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Troy McCord; her maternal grandfather, Ellis Nelson; and her paternal grandfather, Frederick McCord.
Lyle Wickard
HASTINGS - Lyle Wickard, 73, of Hastings died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. The Rev. Ronald Wickard will officiate. Burial with military rites will be at 3 p.m. in Fort McPherson National cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Wickard was born on July 3, 1924, in Sumner to Clark Alton and Grace Wickard. He graduated from Sumner High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Jan. 12, 1944, to April 24, 1946.
He married
Mary Paxton in 1953 in Valentine. They moved to Hastings in 1963. He retired from Fast Construction. Mrs. Wickard died in 1983.
Mr. Wickard was a member of the Eagles Club in Hastings and the American Legion in Kearney.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Linda Downing of Hastings; two grandsons, Randy Downing and Brad Downing, both of Hastings; a great-granddaughter; one brother, Alton Wickard of North Platte; and a special friend, Wauneta Penrod of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Roger Wickard, Robert Downing and an infant son; and an infant daughter.
Ernest Reznicek
DODGE - Ernest J. Reznicek, 80, of Dodge died Monday, June 15, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus' Catholic Church in Dodge. The Rev. Mel Wiese will officiate Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus' Catholic cemetery in rural Dodge.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church. A Catholic Workman Lodge rosary will be at 3 p.m. and a public rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Reznicek was born on May 15, 1918, at Cedar Hill to Andrew and Emma (Pavel) Reznicek. He attended rural schools.
He married
Wylma Dostal on Sept. 20, 1938, in Howells. They farmed eight and a half miles south of Howells. They move to Dodge in August 1971. After retiring from the farm, he worked for Ruskamp Construction for two years. He then worked at the Dodge Dairy for 20 years until retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the Catholic Workman Lodge and the Holy Name Society and a past member of the National Farmers Organization. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus' Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald Reznicek of Ord and Leo Reznicek of Madison; five daughters, Delores (Mrs. Merlin) Yosten of Grand Island, Linda (Mrs. James) Havelka of Howells, Bonnie (Mrs. Marv) Evert of Crete, Kathy (Mrs. Don) Thompson of Kalona, Iowa, and Joan Reznicek of Kearney; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Reznicek of Dodge; and two sisters, Agnes Cech of Schuyler and Anna Kempf of Graettinger, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary; five brothers, James, Frank, Adolph, Emil and Edward Reznicek; and one sister, Lillian Dvorak.
Elizabeth Eggert
RUSSELL, Kan. - Elizabeth June Eggert, 65, of Russell, Kan., died Friday, June 12, 1998, at Russell Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Russell. The Revs. Michael Fibranz and Henry Hartman will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. Eggert was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Russell City Library, Deines Cultural Center of Russell or "The Lutheran Hour" radio program.
Pohlman's Mortuary in Russell is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Eggert was born on June 22, 1932, near North Loup to Oscar and Lydia (Foth) Bredthauer. She moved to the Grand Island area when she was 3. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in home economics and a teaching certificate.
She married
Richard H. Eggert on Aug. 16, 1953, at Grand Island. They lived in Hays, Kan., for several years before moving to Russell in 1965. She was very involved in civic affairs, as well as working part time in her husband's drug store. They retired in 1994.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the library board at Russell and the Central Kansas Library Board. She was a director of the Deines Cultural Center at Russell.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Paul and Kurt Eggert, both of Los Angeles, Keith Eggert of Taos, N.M., and James Eggert of Bedford, Ma.; one daughter, Katherine Eggert of Boulder, Colo.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Oscar Bredthauer of Grand Island and John Bredthauer of Houston; and two sisters, Barbara Jackman of Los Angeles and Joan Marotz of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Bredthauer; and a sister, Rosemary Schultze.
Lillian Sears
FARGO, N.D. - Lillian M. Sears, 84, of Fargo, N.D., formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo.
Services were on Monday at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, Minn. Additional services and burial will be at Mount Hope cemetery in Valentine.
Mrs. Sears was born on Oct. 16, 1913, near Valentine. She grew up and attended school there. She taught country school near Kennedy before moving to Grand Island in 1941.
She was a waitress at the Holiday Inn in Grand Island until retiring in 1975. She continued to live in Grand Island until moving to Fargo to be with her daughter in 1993.
Survivors include one daughter, Danita (Mrs. Al III) Lerberg of Fargo, N.D.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
