Carl Bohl
HOLDREGE -- Carl Bohl, 84, of Holdrege, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Amy Britt
ANSLEY -- Amy Britt, 29, formerly of Ansley, died Nov. 22, 1997, in Utah.
Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Westerville Cemetery. The Rev. Mel Shepherd will officiate.
Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial are suggested to the Westerville Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Britt of North Platte; two sons, Andrew Vas and Caelin Vas, both of Ansley; her father and stepmother, Darrel and Hope Price of rural Ansley; two sisters, Patricia (Mrs. Marvin) Brugger of Albion and Deborah (Mrs. Wayne) Slingsby of Arcadia; two stepbrothers, Phillip Coates of Ansley and Kyle Coates of Lincoln; and grandparents, Rex and Frances Coffman of Aurora, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Price, and grandparents, Paul and Louise Price.
Ruth Thomsen
ORD -- Ruth Thomsen, 91, of Ord died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. M.S. Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire Department or Ord Township Library.
Mrs. Thomsen was born Nov. 5, 1906, at Tenino, Wash., to Henry and Nancy (Wygent) Covert. At the age of 5, her family moved to Ord. She attended a rural country school in the Springdale area of Valley County and was a 1924 graduate of Ord High School.
On Feb. 26, 1929, she married
Harvey Thomsen at Grand Island. The couple lived and farmed in the Springdale area of Valley County. Mr. Thomsen died Dec. 27, 1996.
She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge and helped with 4-H clubs. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, tatting, gardening, quilting, fishing, long walks and playing the piano.
Survivors include one son, Leo of Ord; three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dollie, Velna and Myra; and three brothers, Len, Bud and Jim.
Farron Anderson
COLUMBUS -- Farron Anderson, 30, of Columbus died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at his home in Columbus.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. The Rev. Brian Bergum will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery at Albion.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Further visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.
Mr. Anderson was born April 24, 1967, to Gayle and Marion (Smithson) Anderson at Neligh.
He received his education in Albion Public Schools. He graduated from high school in 1985. He worked at Pizza Hut Restaurant at various locations and was assistant manager at Bonanza in Columbus.
He worked construction in Lincoln and in Columbus he worked for Luedtke Construction, Heartland Builders, Rosendahl Construction and was currently employed at Behlen Manufacturing.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Gayle and Carol Anderson of Albion; his mother, Marion Anderson of Duncan Lakes; a daughter, Haily Anderson of Columbus; two brothers, Dwaine Anderson of Duncan Lakes and Kevin Anderson of Albion; and a sister, Carmen (Mrs. Jay C.) Johnson of Newman Grove.
He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Niles Anderson.
Bernice Elliott
Bernice Elliott, 81, of Benkelman, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at the Dundee County Hospital in Benkelman.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Vada Warren
THEDFORD -- Vada Warren, 75, of Thedford died as a result of a traffic accident near Stapleton Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Thedford. The Rev. Linda Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church in Thedford. Arnold and Mullen Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Church Building Fund, the Seneca cemetery or donor's choice.
Mrs. Warren was born Feb. 20, 1922, to Charles and Emma (Hanner) Licking on the family homestead south of Seneca. She attended grade school at rural District 16. She lived with her brother Clyde and his wife to attend high school, graduating from Omaha North High School in 1939.
She took normal training in high school and taught rural school in Thomas County for two years.
She married
LaVay Warren on Nov. 18, 1942, at Thedford. They lived on a ranch south of Seneca until 1961, when they moved four miles west of Thedford. She still lived there at the time of her death.
Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, sewing and cooking.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ at Thedford and the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include five sons, John and Rod, both of Stapleton, Frank of Thedford, Bob of Seneca and Jerry of Mullen; three daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Ray) Harmon of Grand Island, Mary Roy of North Platte, and Linda (Mrs. Wayne) Eggert of Hallam; two brothers, Norma Licking of Thedford and Thurman Licking of Seneca; one sister, Ruth Craft of Charleston, W.Va.; 22 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVay in 1967; an infant daughter, Carol; a son, Bill; six brothers and one sister.
Denman Dean
SLOAN, Iowa -- Denman F. Dean, 85, of Sloan, Iowa, formerly of Shelton, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan. The Rev. Emery Killian will officiate. Burial will be in Hite cemetery near Whiting, Iowa.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Dean was born Dec. 26, 1912, in Shelton to Bert and Edna (Lough) Dean. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1932.
He was employed as a gandy with the Union Pacific Railroad for a couple of years before he moved to Iowa and started farming. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. He returned to farming in the Whiting, Iowa area.
He married
Helen Fitzgerald on Oct. 1, 1945 in Elk Point, S.D. The couple moved to Sloan in November 1958 and continued to farm. He retired in 1990 and moved into Sloan in 1996.
He was a member of Emery-Johnson American Legion Post 481 in Whiting and the Whiting Rifle Club. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; three sons, James of Whiting, Mike of Salix, Iowa and Greg of Sloan; three daughters, Bev (Mrs. Ronnie) Copple of Salix, Chris (Mrs. Mike) Williams of Runnels, Iowa, and Denise (Mrs. Bob) Lestor of Bloomington, Minn.; two sisters, Opal Deen of Onawa and Alta (Mrs. Wes) Kensinger of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Sue; a sister, Nora Jane Waite; a brother, Ervin, and two infant brothers.
Howard Lee
PH'NIX, Ariz. -- Howard John Lee, 75, of Phoenix died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Phoenix, Ariz.
Services will be held in Phoenix.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery in Greeley.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home in Greeley.
