Harold Kinzer
ST. EDWARD -- Harold E. Kinzer, 76, of St. Edward was found dead of apparently natural causes Monday, March 29, 1999, at his home.
Services are pending with Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Tamela Hobbs-Tickle
CAIRO -- Tamela M. Hobbs-Tickle, 39, of Cairo died Saturday, March 27, 1999, as the result of an auto accident. Her husband was also killed.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Vernon W. Werner officiating. Burial will be on Thursday in the Cozad cemetery following an 11 a.m. service for her husband.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home in Grand Island and before services Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Tamela M. Hobbs-Tickle Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Hobbs-Tickle was born on Feb. 8, 1960, at North Platte to Larry and Geraldine "Geri" (Smith) Hobbs. She grew up in Ogallala and was educated there before moving to Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1978.
She married
Richard Williams, and they lived in Chapman and several other states. She returned to Grand Island in 1986 and attended Grand Island Beauty Academy. She worked at Center Stage Styling Salon.
She married
Trevor Tickle on Oct. 18, 1997, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island before moving to Cairo. She worked at the Hair Co. at the time of her death.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Tamela M. Williams, Sarah A. Williams, Katie M. Williams, Jenni E. Williams and Britney H. Williams, all of Cairo; one stepson, Trey L. Tickle of Cozad; her parents, Larry Hobbs of North Platte and Geri Terry of Grand Island; two brothers, Todd L. Hobbs of Grand Island and Trinity L. Terry of Omaha; and four sisters, Tonja (Mrs. Dodd) Cox and Traci Terry, both of Grand Island, and Keni (Mrs. Travis) Lee and Kristin Hobbs, both of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Isaac M. Williams.
Trevor Tickle
CAIRO -- Trevor L. Tickle, 30, of Cairo died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center from injuries suffered in an auto accident. His wife also died as a result of the crash.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad. The Revs. Bob Neben and Don O'Brien will officiate. Graveside services for him and his wife will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. The casket will not be open at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Trevor Tickle Memorial Fund.
Mr. Tickle was born on Oct. 7, 1968, in North Platte to Gerald and Laura (Knotwell) Tickle. He attended school at Arnold until the eighth grade. He was involved in Cub Scouts and Little League baseball.
He moved with his family to Cozad in 1983 and graduated from Cozad High School in 1987. He played high school football for four years at Cozad. He also enjoyed scuba diving and paint-ball competitions.
He married
Tamela Michelle Hobbs Williams on Oct. 18, 1997, at Grand Island. He had worked in construction in several areas of Nebraska and was a welder at a fabrication plant at Alda at the time of his death.
Survivors include a son, Trey of Cozad; five stepdaughters, Tamela M., Sarah A., Katie M., Jenni E. and Britney H. Williams, all of Cairo; his parents, Jerry and Freddie of Cozad; a brother, Troy of North Platte; and his grandmother, Opal Tickle of Grant.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Hazel Knotwell and Howard Tickle.
George Thiel
LINCOLN -- George R. Thiel, 77, of Lincoln died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at his home.
Private burial of cremains will be on Friday in Lincoln.
There will be no visitation. Roper and Sons Mortuary of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thiel was born on May 3, 1921, at Overton to Dwight and Fannie (Cross) Thiel. The family later moved to Grand Island.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He married
Delores White on Nov. 10, 1946, at Mankato, Kan. They lived in South Sioux City, where he was a contractor. They later moved to Lincoln, where he worked as a construction coordinator.
Survivors include two sons, Mike and Bruce, both of Lincoln; four grandchildren; three brothers, Karl of Grand Island, Dwight of Manteca, Calif., and Jack of Des Moines, Iowa; and two sisters, Patricia Stratman of Gothenburg and Vera Jarzynka of Yuba City, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Alfred and Frank; and four sisters, Leona O'Brien, Bonnibel Juzek, Leith O'Brien and Winifred Nelson.
Stephen Von Riesen
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Stephen L. Von Riesen, 53, of The Woodlands, Texas, formerly of Beatrice and Grand Island, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Asheville, N.C.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beatrice. The Rev. Mark Seiker will officiate. Burial will be in the Mennonite cemetery in Beatrice.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and the rosary will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Mennonite Central Committee Relief Fund.
Mr. Von Riesen was born on Nov. 3, 1945, in Lincoln. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1964. He graduated from Hastings College with a bachelor's degree in economics and from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1974. He served as Beatrice city attorney from 1974 to 1975 and as legal counsel for the Nebraska State Patrol until 1980.
He married
Patti Hiller on July 26, 1980, in Grand Island. He served as Hall County attorney from 1980 to 1986, when he moved to Houston to work for the National College of District Attorneys. He became an assistant U.S. attorney in Omaha in 1990 and worked for the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force. Since 1994, he had been an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Texas, where he prosecuted major drug crimes.
He was a member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in The Woodlands, Texas, the Men's Club and the Texas Bar Association.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Frances Von Riesen of Beatrice; and two brothers, James Allen Von Riesen of Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Randal C. Von Riesen of Beatrice.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius Von Riesen; and an infant brother, Jerry Von Riesen.
Harry Anderson
BURWELL -- Harry R. Anderson, 91, of Burwell, formerly of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna. The Rev. Ronald D. Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials are suggested to the church or Community Memorial Special Care Unit in Burwell.
Mr. Anderson was born on May 14, 1907, at Mason City to Robert O. and Muriel (Pringle) Anderson.
He married
Mildred "Nell" Shuput on Sept. 29, 1929. They farmed near Broken Bow for many years. She died on Aug. 22, 1993. He had been a resident of Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell for several years.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merna. He served on the Farmers Co-op board in Broken Bow and held several offices.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Richard) Hester of Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert; and one brother, Earl.
Alvie Coulter
ALBION -- Alvie Frank Coulter, 97, of Albion died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Albion. The Revs. Ray and Mary Avidano will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Albion.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Coulter was born on Nov. 8, 1901, at Lynch to Andrew Frank and Johanna Elizabeth (Perryman) Coulter. The family moved to Bradish in Boone County in 1908.
He attended Boone County District 49 and District 63 schools and graduated from Albion High School, where he helped organize the first A-Club. He attended Doane College for one semester until his father died.
He returned to Albion and worked as a grocery store clerk, stockman, bakery assistant and brick tender until 1922, when he began working at the Albion National Bank. He worked there for 44 years until retiring as vice president and cashier at the age of 65.
He married
Rachel Elizabeth King on Aug. 26, 1927, at Fullerton.
He participated in high school basketball and town-team baseball and softball for many years. He was a volunteer firefighter for 33 years and served as secretary. He was a charter member of the Albion Country Club and was an avid golfer until the age of 90.
He was chairman for U.S. savings bonds, co-chairman and treasurer for the Cancer Society and county treasurer for the American Red Cross.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Albion and served many years as an usher and Sunday school treasurer.
Mr. and Mrs. Coulter entered the Wolf Memorial Home Good Samaritan Center in Albion in July 1996.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Nashville, Tenn., and Andrew of Conway, Ark.; one daughter, Beverly (Mrs. Dean) Larson of Albion; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
