Dorothy Niemeyer
WOOD RIVER -- Dorothy Niemeyer, 79, of Wood River, formerly of St. Paul, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Jim Warner will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 8 p.m., Friday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Niemeyer was born on Sept. 29, 1919, on the family farm near Ord to Zachary and Mary (Carkoski) Greenwalt. She attended Valley County schools and grew up on the family farm. She then moved to Omaha to work.
She married
Otto Niemeyer in 1949 in Ord. The couple lived in Ord, where she helped her husband operate the Veterans Club. They later moved to Kearney, where they lived until his death.
Mrs. Niemeyer later moved to Heritage Living Center in St. Paul, where she lived for 20 years. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River in 1994 and lived there until her death.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She enjoyed music and helping others.
Survivors include one son, Bob of Boise, Idaho; three grandchildren; and one brother, Louie Greenwalt of Elyria.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Greenwalt; and two sisters, Rose Lonowski and Magdalen Wisniski.
Helen Phillips
WOOD RIVER -- Helen G. Phillips, 91, of the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lowell Rosenbaum
ALBION -- Lowell Dean Rosenbaum, 70, of Albion died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Brian Bergum will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Albion with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 162 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 736 of Albion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Rosenbaum was born on April 1, 1928, at Cedar Rapids. He attended Pinnacle Hill School and graduated from Albion High School in 1946.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was stationed in Germany.
He married
Doris Roberg on Sept. 7, 1959, at Albion. They lived in Albion and farmed in the Plum Creek area east of Cedar Rapids. They sold out in 1984, and he then worked as greenskeeper at the Albion Country Club.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Rae Valley Heritage Association of Petersburg.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert of Omaha and David of Plymouth; one daughter, Linda Pearson of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Dale of Albion; and one sister, Joyce (Mrs. Bob) Schrad of Albion.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ivan.
Downing Rounds
ARCADIA -- Downing Rounds, 79, of Arcadia died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcadia City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Arcadia Rescue Unit or the American Diabetes Association.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rounds was born on March 25, 1919, at Arcadia to Don and Leona (Evans) Rounds. He attended country school and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1937.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He then returned to Arcadia, where he worked at various jobs before farming in several areas near Arcadia. Besides farming, he raised registered Black Angus cattle.
He married
Alfreda Collier on July 30, 1948, at Litchfield. They lived on a farm east of Arcadia.
He was a member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Ord Elks Lodge 2371. He was a director of the Loup Valley Public Power District for 41 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheryl (Mrs. Gene) Haddix of Scotia; a son, Steve Rounds of Arcadia; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Floyd Wrobloske
FULLERTON -- Floyd Wrobloske, 85, of Fullerton died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at the Fullerton Manor.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be in the Krakow Catholic cemetery in rural Genoa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary, Thursday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mr. Wrobloske was born on May 4, 1913, in Merrick County to Joseph and Anna (Staniec) Wrobloske. He attended the Krakow Catholic Country School.
He lived in Central City and worked for a construction company in Grand Island for many years. He moved in 1970 to Genoa, where he farmed and gardened. He moved to Fullerton in 1988 to live with his brother and entered the Fullerton Manor in 1994.
He was a past member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Krakow.
Survivors include one brother, Ray of Fullerton.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe; and two sisters, Helen Wozny and Clara Wrobloske.
Angeline Bell
MINDEN -- Angeline Dora Christine Bell, 80, of Minden died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at her daughter's home in Minden.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. The Rev. Terry Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Layton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bell was born on June 15, 1918, at Minden to Carl J. and Dora (Swanson) Carlson. She grew up in the Minden area.
She married
Charlie A. "Bill" Bell on April 30, 1938, at Axtell. They lived and farmed in the Holdrege area until moving to Minden in 1946.
She was active in social activities at East View Courts in Minden, where she lived until December 1998. She enjoyed fishing with her husband.
She volunteered at the Kearney County Community Hospital Long-Term Care Unit. She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden and the women's circle.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Hammer of Minden, Bess Kauk of Alma and Rosalie Bigham of St. Joseph, Mo.; a son, Leroy Bell of Boelus; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Grimm of Battle Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson; a sister, Caroline Lammers; and an infant brother.
