Judy Meyer
CENTRAL CITY -- Judy E. Meyer, 44, of Central City died of complications from multiple sclerosis on Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City. The Rev. Bradley Rick will officiate. Burial will be in Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mrs. Meyer was born Dec. 15, 1953, to James W. and Lilly M. Tatum in Atlanta. Her family moved frequently because of her father's work. She attended elementary schools in Kansas City, Mo. and Chicago, then moved with her family to Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1971.
She married
Dennis Meyer on June 12, 1971, at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. They lived in Ord for several years, then moved back to Grand Island, then to Central City in 1987. She worked at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office and several banks, including Farmer's National Bank in Central City.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. She enjoyed crafts and life to the fullest within the bounds of her illness.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Shane of Ottawa, Kan. and Scott of Central City; two daughters, Sara (Mrs. Jamie) Blodgett of Lincoln and Suzann of Central City; three grandchildren; her mother of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Jerry Tatum of Biloxi, Miss. and one sister, Janet Peart of Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Lucy Roblyer
BURWELL -- Lucy L. Roblyer, 86, of Burwell died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. The Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Firemen and Equipment Fund.
Mrs. Roblyer was born Sept. 1, 1911, to Charles and Sarah (Cross) Britton in Loup County.
She married
Erwin "Tom" Roblyer on March 22, 1933, in Broken Bow. The couple lived on a farm near Burwell and operated it together. He died in 1966. She continued to live on the farm until 1988, when she moved to Burwell. She moved to Valley County Nursing Home in Ord in spring 1994.
She was a member of Kent Corner Club and active in the senior center. She enjoyed reading and traveling to visit relatives.
Survivors include one son, Duane of Burwell; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Abe Britton of Foxboro, Wis. and two sisters, Lois Joan (Mrs. Henry) Rudnick of Long Pine and Joyce Lucille Scott and Broomfield, Colo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles; seven brothers and four sisters.
Paul Strasheim
AURORA -- Paul E. Strasheim, 57, of Aurora died after a long illness on Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Community Church in Aurora. The Rev. Jerry Breese will officiate. Burial will be in Central City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Strasheim was born April 22, 1940, to Arthur L. and Faye I. (Johnson) Strasheim in Lincoln. He lived in Texas and Iowa as a child and moved to Omaha in 1949. He graduated from North High School in Omaha and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha for two years.
He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, Progressive Designs, York Manufacturing and Chief Industries as a tool and die maker.
He was a member of Faith Community Church in Aurora.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Falls City and Jonathan of Giltner; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Andy) Freeman of Omaha and Sarah of Giltner; his mother, Faye of Edgemont, S.D.; three stepdaughters, Donna Stuhldreier, Kathy Rodenfeltd and Vicky (Mrs. Howard) Fritz, all of Aurora and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen; one sister, Gloria and his father.
Edgar Varney
BROKEN BOW -- Edgar Varney, 86, of Broken Bow died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Broken Bow.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Rosary is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials are suggested to Prairie Pioneer Center or Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Varney was born Oct. 2, 1911, to Seth P. and Lesta Grace (Fletcher) Varney in Ansley. He graduated from Ansley High School in 1930. He started his career at Steinmeier's Drug Store in 1927 and worked in the drug store business since then. He attended Creighton University College of Pharmacy and graduated from Capital College of Pharmacy in Denver in 1932. He passed the Colorado, Wyoming, Missouri and Nebraska state boards of pharmacy.
He was the longest consecutive registered pharmacist in Nebraska at the time of his death and had been registered since 1932.
He married
Dorothy Welte on June 19, 1934, in Broken Bow. She died in 1978.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 2388 in Broken Bow, Broken Bow Elks Lodge 1688 and served as treasurer for several years.
He served as a member of the Broken Bow school board, Prairie Pioneer Center board, Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce board and as a director of Broken Bow State Bank.
Survivors include four sons, Michael of Torrington, Wyo., Ran of Broken Bow, Tim of LaVista and Matthew of Fort Morgan, Colo.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, George of Denver and Seth of Arvada, Colo. and a special friend, Vella Bellinger of Broken Bow.
Franklin Vogel
CAIRO -- Franklin V. Vogel, 67, of Cairo died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at his home in Cairo.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cameron Cemetery. The Rev. Eldon Elsberry will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church in Cairo.
Mr. Vogel was born Sept. 25, 1930, to Everett and Ruby (Dubbs) Vogel in Wood River. He attended school in Wood River and graduated from Wood River High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953.
He married
Phyllis Lemburg on May 27, 1955, in Grand Island. They lived in Cairo until 1959, when they moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. He worked for the city there, constructing and maintaining the Summit House on Pikes Peak.
The couple moved back to Cairo to resume his business as owner and operator of Vogel Salvage in 1959.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Douglas of Grand Island and Ty of Cairo; two daughters, Jane Schipman and Kay Fielding, both of Grand Island; seven grandchildren and three sisters, Ramona Hadenfeldt of Fort Collins, Colo, Merna Hoage of Austin, Texas and Cheryl Tyler of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons.
Lynn Whitefoot
LOUP CITY -- Lynn E. Whitefoot, 63, of Loup City died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island from injuries suffered in an accident near Boelus.
Private family burial will be at a later date at Hayestown cemetery near Boelus. He was cremated. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Whitefoot was born May 25, 1934, at Boelus to Edward and Florence (Crowe) Whitefoot. He attended Boelus Public Schools and graduated from Boelus High School in 1952.
He married
JoAnne Lemburg on May 23, 1952 at Grand Island. The couple first lived west of Boelus and he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for several years. They later moved to Lincoln where he worked in construction.
They lived in various Nebraska communities over the years including Grand Island, where he worked for Lacy Construction for many years.
He married
Vicki Janulewicz on August 12, 1989, at Sterling. The couple lived in many states and communities and in 1990, moved to Loup City where they operated Whitefoot Roofing until the time of his death.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also was a talented musician and able to play numerous instruments.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve of Cairo and Neil of Boelus; three daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Curtis) Lehn of Boelus and Janet Whitefoot and Amy Whitefoot, both of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Dick of Grand Island and Don of Columbus and two sisters Helen Anderson of Grand Island and Dorothy (Mrs. Lyle) Hefner of Alda.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
