John Mundt
CENTRAL CITY -- John William Mundt, 81, of Central City died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Schmitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Pierce Chapel cemetery in Clarks with a 1:30 p.m. committal service. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Mundt was born March 18, 1918, to George and Bertha (Wegner) Mundt at North Platte. He grew up and was educated in the Central City area.
He married
Margie D. Garrett on Sept. 4, 1941, at Lincoln. They lived and farmed 10 miles north of Central City all his life. He enjoyed tending his cattle in his later years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Mundt of Grand Island and Jack Mundt of Phillipsburg, Mo.; one daughter, Lola (Mrs. James) Ruzicka of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers, Ralph and Lloyd, and one sister, Elizabeth.
Evelyn 'Petie' Wixson
JOHNSON'S LAKE -- Evelyn E. "Petie" Wixson, 88, of Johnson's Lake, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington after a short illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Lake at Johnson's Lake in Elwood with the Rev. Onamae Waddel officiating. Burial of ashes will occur at a later date in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to Johnson's Lake Emergency Medical Services, Chapel of the Lake Church at Johnson's Lake or the Elwood United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wixson was born on June 19, 1910, in Grand Island to Hans D. and Lena (Schimmer) Scheel. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High and Grand Island Baptist College. She moved to Lincoln and worked for Lincoln Drug Co.
She married
Floyd A. Wixson on July 20, 1940, in Grand Island. She worked at the First National Bank in Grand Island from 1941 to 1947. In 1947, she and her husband began operating Schimmer's Lake and Tavern until 1967. She then joined the Bank of Doniphan staff and worked there until she retired.
She and her daughter moved permanently to Johnson's Lake in 1990 after being part-time residents since 1967.
She was a member of the Elwood United Methodist Church, Grand Island B.P.O. Does Drove 147, Lexington Area Kiwanis bridge and several other bridge clubs. She also enjoyed knitting, baking and lake living.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Wixson of Johnson's Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.
Laura Rystrom
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Laura Rystrom, 92, of Northridge, Calif., formerly of Stromsburg, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at Northridge, Calif.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. The Revs. Jeff Thurman and Lester Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Twila Fielder
Twila F. Fielder, 79, of Grand Island, formerly of Hastings, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Hastings. The Rev. John F. Akers will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery at Hastings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings.
Memorials are suggested to the Second Floor Phillips/Nebraska Veterans Home.
Mrs. Fielder was born on Oct. 29, 1919, in Barnes, Kan., to Ralph E. and Grace M. (Park) Simnitt.
She married
Donald B. Fielder on Aug. 19, 1935. She moved to Hastings from Kansas in 1935. She worked at Rogers Grocery and Curly Stop and Shop in Kansas. Mr. Fielder died on April 5, 1991.
Mrs. Fielder was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Larry, Ron and Rick, all of Hastings, and Dan of Savannah, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Shriver and Norma Smidt, both of Hastings; one brother, Bud Simnitt of Washington.
Edna Barrett
ALBION -- Edna Pearl Barrett, 89, of Albion, formerly of Broken Bow, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. The Rev. Fred Roedger will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion. The Rev. Terry Otto will officiate.
Mrs. Barrett was born on Oct. 18, 1909, at Broken Bow to William Ward and Merle Nancy (Brakeman) Henman. The family moved to Oconto, where she received her elementary education. They later moved back to Broken Bow, and she attended Broken Bow schools.
She married
Floyd Eugene Barrett on May 2, 1925, at Broken Bow. They lived in Lillian until 1929, when they moved back to Broken Bow. She was a homemaker. Mr. Barrett died on Feb. 4, 1975. Mrs. Barrett continued to live in Broken Bow until September 1985, when she moved to Albion to be near her daughter, Vivian. She moved into Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion in December 1989.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Latrea Circle in Broken Bow. She was also a member and a color bearer of the BPOE Does in Broken Bow.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Oakeson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kay Shea of Santa Fe, N.M., and Vivian (Mrs. Bill) Thiessen of Albion; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arvid Henman of Grand Island.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Oxford and Eva Marsh; and two brothers, Charley and Richard Henman.
Lillian Ewoldt
Lillian M. Ewoldt, 62, of Silver Creek and Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Lakeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Julie Bringleson will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Ewoldt was born on May 29, 1936, at Columbus to Warner J. and Zelma L. (Shanklin) Eisenmann. She grew up and attended school in Columbus and Grand Island.
She married
Fritz Ewoldt on Dec. 12, 1954, at Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island before moving to Lexington. While living there, Mrs. Ewoldt worked for Monroe Automotive Equipment. They moved to Silver Creek in 1992. Because of her health, Mrs. Ewoldt moved to Lakeview in Grand Island on October 1998.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, fishing and camping.
She was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Nannette Dee Gass of Central City and Vicki (Mrs. Mike) Wodrich of Grand Island; one son, Roy Ewoldt of Cozad; four grandsons; two sisters, Pat Mielak of Genoa and Dorothy Spence of Polk; and one brother, Robert Eisenmann of Warren, Mich.
She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Jacob Ewoldt; and one brother, Kenneth Eisenmann.
