ALBION -- Earl Ramm, 66, of Albion died Friday, May 14, 1999, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with the Rev. Brian Bergum officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Albion with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 162 of Albion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Emily Sands
BROKEN BOW -- Emily Verna Sands, 102, of Broken Bow died Friday, May 14, 1999, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Gary Zohner
ST. EDWARD -- Gary Zohner, 50, of Battle Creek and St. Edward died Thursday, May 13, 1999, in St. Edward.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek with the Rev. Peter Utecht officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery in Battle Creek.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Walter Mundschenk
GRAYMONT, Ill. -- Walter E. Mundschenk, 80, of Graymont, Ill., died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Pontiac, Mich.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Flanagan, Ill., with Pastor Thomas L. Delk officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac and one hour before services on Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Mundschenk was born on Feb. 4, 1919, in Albion to Frank L. and Anna (Krohn) Mundschenk. He attended Boone County schools.
He married
Gwen B. Burcky on April 1, 1945, in Somonauk, Ill.
Survivors include two sons, Randall Mundschenk and Gary Mundschenk, both of Graymont, Ill.; one daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Mitch) Smiley of Bemidji, Minn.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six brothers, Lenard Mundschenk of Marion, Iowa, Kenneth Mundschenk of Flanagan, Ill., Robert Mundschenk and Julius Mundschenk, both of Albion, Frank Mundschenk Jr. of Grand Island and the Rev. Harold Mundschenk of Eagan, Minn.; and four sisters, Josephine Mundschenk of San Diego, Emma Kennedy of Pontiac, Ill., Catherine Pyka of Martinez, Calif., and Elsie (Mrs. Dale) Wheeler of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.
Laura Rystrom
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Laura May Rystrom, 92, of Northridge, Calif., formerly of Stromsburg, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at Granada Hills, Calif.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. The Revs. Jeff Thurman and Lester Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be before services Saturday at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home of Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rystrom was born on Dec. 14, 1906, in Crete to William and Mary Ellen Woodard. She was educated in Crete.
She married
Jay E. Moorhead in 1928. In 1934, she moved with her family to Beatrice, where she lived for several years. She moved in 1945 to Stromsburg, where she owned and operated the Burg Theatre for several years.
She married
Carol Rystrom in 1951. She continued to live in Stromsburg until after his death in 1975, when she moved to York. She moved to Northridge in 1981 to be near her son.
Mrs. Rystrom was a past president of the United Methodist Women of Stromsburg and past worthy matron of Rob Morris Chapter 192 of Stromsburg. She was a member of the Northridge United Methodist Church, Northridge Woman's Club and the Granada Hills Senior Citizen Club.
Survivors include one son, Gerald of Northridge.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, one sister and one brother.
Theodora Baumann
Theodora "Teddy" Reimers Baumann, 83, of 1923 Stagecoach Road died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until after the rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the church, St. Francis Foundation or the Theodora Baumann Scholarship Fund at Grand Island Senior High.
Mrs. Baumann was born on Sept. 28, 1915, to Theodore and Alta (Bake) Reimers. She lived most of her life in Grand Island.
She married
John O. "Jack" Baumann on Oct. 14, 1941, in Grand Island.
Mrs. Baumann had been a member of Delta Gamma sorority while attending the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was a member and past president of PEO Sisterhood Chapter EZ, an original member of the local Book Club, a Red Cross volunteer and a cornerstone member of the United Way Builders Club from 1993 to 1999. She also endowed the Theodora Baumann Scholarship at Grand Island Senior High.
She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Stuhr Museum and Riverside Golf Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (Mrs. Dennis) Swanstrom of Sioux City, Iowa, and Annibet (Mrs. Jim) Griffin of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; two sons, John Baumann of Palo Alto, Calif., and Mark Baumann of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and her caregiver, Teri Lockhart.
Her husband died on Dec. 6, 1979. She also was preceded in death by three sisters.
Thomas Coyle Jr
Thomas P. Coyle Jr., 75, of the Grand Island Veterans Home died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in All Faiths Chapel at the veterans home. The Rev. Jim Schmitt will officiate. Burial will be in Burkett Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the veterans home.
Mr. Coyle entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 3, 1942. He served in World War II and received a Purple Heart before his discharge in May 1946.
Survivors include one brother, Richard Coyle of Omaha.
William Peterson
William C. Peterson, 81, of Grand Island died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Bishop Michael McCain will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Peterson was born on Dec. 4, 1917, at Dix to Alfred and Stella (Kelly) Peterson. He grew up and was educated at Dix.
He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 8, 1940, served in Europe during World War II and was discharged on Oct. 13, 1945.
He married
Doris Catherine Frerichs on April 22, 1946, at Lodgepole. The couple lived in Sidney and Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, George Peterson, Walter Peterson and Dana Peterson, all of Grand Island; three daughters, Lucinda Williams of Wood River, Joan (Mrs. Marc) Lovendahl of Morganville, Kan., and Kathy Wilson of Grand Island; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elmer Peterson of Cheyenne, Wyo., Merle Peterson of Gurley and James Peterson of Dodge City, Kan.; and one sister, Francis Peterson of Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura; a grandson; two great-grandsons; and a sister, Ila.
