LOUP CITY -- Steve I. Peters, 79, of Loup City died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services are pending with Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.
Donal Bayne
CRETE -- Donal D. Bayne, 67, of Crete died Thursday, May 6, 1999, at Crete.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ-First Congregational Church in Crete. The Rev. Bob Shofner will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverside cemetery in Crete with military honors by VFW Post 4959 of Crete.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. Visitation will continue before services at the church.
Survivors include a son, Scott of Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Deb (Mrs. Craig) Snyder of Crete and Bev (Mrs. Guy) Jones of Crete; a brother, Gary Bayne of Aurora; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Arlone Hanousek
LINCOLN -- Arlone L. Hanousek, 46, of Fairbury, formerly of Wood River, died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a 7 p.m. rosary. Memorials are suggested to Region Five.
Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Hanousek was born June 13, 1952, to Louie and Bernadine (Stanczyk) Hanousek in Grand Island. She grew up in rural Wood River and attended District 13 and Wood River public schools. She also attended Grand Island Senior High School.
After high school, she lived at various sheltered program homes, with the most recent being Independent Living in Fairbury under the supervision of Region Five. Her main work in life was to spread love, joy and friendship to those she met.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. She participated in 4-H as a child.
She enjoyed entertaining friends, crocheting, knitting and music. She also enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her sister, Marlene (Mrs. Dan) Wagoner of Wood River.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Christopher Reinke
SMITHFIELD -- Christopher Reinke, 20, of Smithfield died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at Tri-County Area Hospital in Lexington.
Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Neva Corrigan Neva M. Corrigan, 67, of Grand Island died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at the Lakeview Health and Rehab Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Cole will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harlington cemetery in Waverly, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Mrs. Corrigan was born on March 3, 1931, in Juneau, Wis. to Albert and Elvira (Reichert) Rohde. She grew up in Juneau and graduated from Juneau High School in 1949.
She married
Arnold Corrigan Nov. 27, 1959, in Madison, Wis. In 1969, she attended the Ambassador Motels Management Course in Denver and graduated in 1970 with a motel management certificate.
From 1971 to 1976 she was co-manager of the Erin Rancho Motel. From 1976 to 1978 she was a secretary for the Hall County Civil Defense. From 1978 to 1983 she was the church secretary at the Faith United Methodist Church. In 1983 and 1984 she worked part-time for Goodwill Industries. From 1984 to 1992 she was a marketing coordinator at Delicious Foods. From 1992 to 1994 she was a telemarketer for the American Heart Association. She then was employed from 1994 to 1996 as the secretary/receptionist at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Dorcas Circle at the church and served as pianist and organist as well as singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school classes in many churches.
She was an avid Nebraska and Green Bay Packer football fan.
Survivors include one son, Jeffrey of Grand Island; one daughter, Gwen Millspaugh of Chapman, two grandchildren; and four sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Lloyd) Hazzard of Yuma, Ariz. Carol Majeski of Millbrae, Calif., Joyce Sass of Espanola, N.M. and Ellen (Mrs. Bill) Clausen of Madison, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991.
James Fagan
James Edward Fagan, 79, of 5063 N. 80th Road, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
Mr. Fagan was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Abbott to John J. and Esther (Bryson) Fagan. He grew up in the Grand Island area, attending rural school west of Grand Island and graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1938.
He married
Elinora Soeth on April 5, 1947 in Grand Island. They lived northwest of Grand Island all of their lives. She died in 1989.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Platte Duetsche Society and the Grand Island Saddle Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Dian (Mrs. Roger) Eigenberg of Hastings; three sons, Tom and Gary of Cairo and Jim of Grand Island; six grandchildren; and one sister Dorothy Adams of Douglas, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack.
"Penny" Fothergill
Pensri "Penny" Fothergill, 54, of Grand Island died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 at her home from apparent natural causes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Centennial Towers Community Room. The Rev. David Hoesch will officiate.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kleine Funeral Home. Following the visitation, Mrs. Fothergill will be cremated.
Mrs. Fothergill was born March 8, 1944, in Korat, Thailand as Pensri Saenlert. She grew up in Thailand and received her early education there.
She married
Harold Fothergill on Dec. 18, 1970, in Korat. The couple made a short stop in Grand Island in March 1971 and then moved to Fort Sill, Okla. where she received her GED. Later they moved to Germany for three years and then moved to Fort Dix, N.J. In 1980, they moved to Grand Island.
In 1981, after trying for years, she became a U.S. citizen. Government red tape, residency requirements and other roadblocks postponed an earlier citizenship. Mrs. Fothergill's daughter Petchroong became a citizen automatically when her mother became a citizen.
She is a member of the Buddhist Faith, the American Legion Auxiliary of Central City. She always enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Peteloon of Thailand, Fred of Clarks and Robert of Central City; one step-son, Anthony of North Carolina; three daughters, Moung and Suchada of Thailand and Petchroong "Pet" of Grand Island; one step-daughter, Robin Throm of Marysville, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and two sisters in Thailand.
Lucille Klein
ST. PAUL -- Lucille V. Klein, 79, of St. Paul, formerly of Wolbach died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Ken West will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Living Center or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Klein was born May 13, 1919, at Primrose to Harvey and Bertha (Adams) Allard. She attended schools in Fullerton and Greeley, where she graduated. She then attended Kearney State Teachers College where she graduated with her teaching certificate. She taught school at District 48 near Cedar Rapids and at Star School near Wolbach.
She married
Ervin Klein Aug. 31, 1941, in Wolbach. The couple first farmed by Wolbach for two years. After Ervin served in the U.S. Army the couple moved back to Wolbach. In 1952 they moved to Fremont where she worked at George Schweiser Co. until 1970 when they moved to San Jose, Calif. The couple returned to Wolbach in 1978. They lived at Parkside Plaza for a short time before returning to Wolbach. She entered the Heritage Living Center in 1992.
She enjoyed fishing with her husband, knitting, handicrafts and playing the piano and organ.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the church circle and the Logans Ladies Aid of Wolbach.
Survivors include three sons, William of Cedar Rapids, Jim of Sunnyvale, Calif. and Tom or Arroyo Grande, Calif.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers Charles and Glenn of Greeley; and a sister, Aletha Teply of St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandson.
